June 21st, 2009 12:42 PMchanchimiWell, that's good (I think!) Seems like you'll be reading lots of books next school year. I had a lot this year, I don't so much as mind just reading a book but it's bever fun to write essays and do projects on them!!!
-
June 21st, 2009 11:19 AMLucentMm, I believe we'll also be reading "Beowulf" (yet ANOTHER great work of literature XD). Though, personally, I want to get my English teacher to let us read "And Then There Were None" by Agatha Christie. It was such a good mystery book <3
Grapes of Wrath apparently takes place during the Great Depression, but... Our English teacher read one chapter out of it once, and it actually sounded interesting XD -
June 21st, 2009 11:17 AMchanchimiYour probably right xD
Oh, the Odyssey? I always thought that was a pretty good story, I liked it. Grapes of Wrath, I've never read that, but I'm sure I'll have to sometime.
xD Heck yes! Wouldn't that be so much better?!
-
June 21st, 2009 11:15 AMLucentThe school'll probably make you read it eventually, since, like I said, it's a "great work of literature". And yet another book I couldn't finish XD
We're gonna be reading the Odyssey this year by Homer, I know that~ I think we'll also be reading the Grapes of Wrath. Both supposedly great works of literature.
Personally, I'd rather be reading PokeSpecial and write an assignment on that XD -
June 21st, 2009 11:05 AMchanchimixD Yes, yes he is!!! That'd ne a great name for a philosopher indeed! Haa, poor Herman! I've never read Moby Dick (I don't really want to read it) xD
-
June 21st, 2009 10:56 AMLucentSir Loser Man, a great philosopher of way back then! Actually, that'd be a pretty funny name to call him by XD Especially if no one knew his name. Reminds me of how someone got Herman Melville's name wrong in an obituary. And Melville wrote "one of the greatest stories of all time" (though not in my opinion; Moby-Dick was boring >.> The '50s movie was good, though).

June 21st, 2009 10:54 AMchanchimiWell, you know there is this one teacher I hate.... xD
Yeah, you have a point. I agree, that is pretty funny what he did. Haha, then we would all know who Sir Loser Man was instead of Socrates! xD -
June 21st, 2009 10:50 AMLucentXD I think if teachers tried something like that, they'd get fired. Though, if there's a teacher you REAAAAAAAAAAAAALLY hate... XD
Still, I find it funny how a great philosopher like Socrates did something somewhat evil to some loser who just wanted to know everything in the world. Though then again... If that loser did in fact get his wish, he might've become more famous than Socrates, and we wouldn't even know who the heck Socrates was XD -
June 21st, 2009 10:41 AMchanchimixD Niiiice.
I've never heard that story, but it was good. GO SOCRATES! Teach that loser a lesson! xD I guess that'd be an interesting way to teach/and or prove a point. As long as teachers don't try anything like that.... xD -
June 21st, 2009 10:39 AMLucentMm, it also reminds me of something I once read. Where someone went to Socrates because he wanted to learn everything there is to learn about life. Socrates then led him to some water, and told him to look in it and say what he saw. The man looked in the water, and told Socrates he saw nothing. Socrates told the man to get a closer look, but as the man leaned his head closer into the water...
Socrates forcefully dunked the guy's head in the water. Until it looked like the man was about to drown, Socrates pulled the guy's head out. The guy asked Socrates why he did that. Socrates told him "What did you want more than anything just now?" The guy answered he wanted air. Then, Socrates said "Well, when you want to learn as much as you wanted air, come back later."
Socrates totally owned the dude XD -
June 21st, 2009 10:36 AMchanchimi
=O STALKER!!! *Hides*
Thanks!~
Yeah, me too probably. It's hard to believe that someone who wrote such a short answer got a higher grade than someone who wrote a long response! Haha xD
Short answers RULE!!! (Most of the time! 8D) -
June 21st, 2009 7:49 AMLucentI'm a profile stalker. What else did you expect? XD
Mm, I hope you did well, too~
Seeing that question, I probably would've answered like Green did when Yellow asked it XD It immediately reminded me of her when I saw it XD And it reminded me of Green's response, too.
Short answers ftw \o/ -
June 20th, 2009 10:38 PMchanchimiEhh!!! You saw what I wrote!!! xD
Ah, well, thank you! I hope I did well so I won't have to take it again.
Haha, that's a funny story. My biology teacher was telling a story of his of when he was in a college ecology (I think) class. The final test had only one question which was, "What is evolution?"
So he wrote a totally long-winded essay, full of terms and everything. Later he turned it in and got a "B" while someone else got an "A" and that guy answered "Evolution is change."
It goes to show, short answers aren't always bad! xD -
June 20th, 2009 5:16 PMLucentOh, SAT taker, I hope you get a good score on it~
*has to wait 'til 11th to take the SAT* At least I don't have standardized tests to worry about...
...
Speaking of SATs, I heard this funny but -most likely- untrue story:
A bunch of high schoolers were spending a load of time studying for the SAT. Then, when the day came, they were well prepared. And, on the test, was only one question with one word. It was "Why?" So, a bunch of kids wrote long, detailed explanations, but the only one who got it right wrote,
"Why not?"
---
Don't we wish it were that easy? XD -
June 18th, 2009 2:57 PMchanchimiHello, The Wind is Blowing!
xD Well, I'll just write up a quick storyling for him myself.
