January 29th, 2011 9:19 AMlatioslegendsEven with fundraising I can't believe your school can save up such a large sum of cash to send nearly the entire senior class to NYC. You either have a small school, or have a highly focused majority. =P
I'll admit some of the new pokemon do look pretty neat, but otherwise I ain't much of a fan... some look ridiclious, others may look too similar to actual animals. I'm not sure of a shortage of the 3DS
but I know for sure plenty will be buying it now that we know the price tag is at $250.
So this is the painting you have told me over these months about! Got to admit the final outcome of your work really shows that you put an effort into getting the porportions of the title, pikachu and general box design all correctly in place.^^
Oh a English teacher? =D sounds like something you would love when considering your current education choices. And its a great idea to attend a smaller and or Community College before heading off to a four year program. ;) The cost is greatly reduced, stress is toned down for mulitple reaons, extra time to organize oneself, and your chances of acceptance to a more prestigous university increase by all means.
The funny thing is I want to be a Historian. Just my educational path is a bit more military like. -
January 23rd, 2011 9:30 AMJustinDestructionHeh, yes, the AP English classes were brutal... though for English, our teacher fell off a cliff in Tacoma Washington, and so we had a sub most of the year. O_o. So that wasn't as hard.
But yes, our Senior class takes a trip each year to NYC. We do fundraisers and stuff to get enough money. I'm just hoping I can visit the Nintendo store!
Haha, yes, ironic indeed. I am pretty excited about the new games. Some of the new guys actually aren't total failures. And yeah, I'm not sure about when I'll get it. My birthday's in May. I could buy it before that probably... the thing I'm worried about is a shortage of 3DS's, similar to the Wii.
Here is the painting!: http://www.twitpic.com/3psuvn
Andd... I am planning on going into English education, most likely. My Music Theory teacher was saying how he hopes I go into English, due to my way with words. I often make him chuckle with my random phrasings. Of course, all you can do with a bachelor's in English is teach or write basically. And writing. I'd like to do it, but I guess it's the intimidation of actually becoming a renowned author. So I can teach, and additionally write in my spare time I suppose. Hah.
I just never really could figure out what I most wanted to do. Teaching seems viable, as it's something I like, the literature and that. But I'm not one for the sciences and I'm not too great at math. But yeah. I'll be attending a smaller college for now that's somewhat close to me, and then I may transfer somewhere else depending on how that goes. -
January 14th, 2011 1:08 PMlatioslegendsPersonally as someone who is part of our county's police explorers I am trying to keep an eye out for a possible drug dealer. More merit points towards me. =3
Pretty much all English or related AP classes are considered the most rigorous, so it comes to no surprise that you would be given suc a silly assignment as of making a wiki page. -_o
You get a class trip to NYC!?! What class is the for? O_O
pretty Ironic when I think about it; your hyped up for black and white and I still haven't finished SS/HG. :P As for the 3DS I'll probably wait six months after its out. Too pricy for me.
Good to hear your almost done with that painting! =D you should send me a photo of it! Oh and speaking of school related things, what are your after high school plans?^^ -
January 11th, 2011 6:58 PMJustinDestructionWell that's good to hear.
Man, the world could do without so much widespread drug/alcohol use. It's something I struggle with often. One of my friends got into pot recently and it's seriously negatively affected him in quite a few ways. Sad.
And yes, AP classes ughhh. I'm in Music Theory and Literature. Besides having to make a wiki page for the novel Heart of Darkness neither has really been that bad at least.
Glad to see your plans are all seemingly in order.
Hm my life's good I suppose. I am now in the musical process for Hello Dolly. I got a really terrible role because my choir director got mad at me. I went from my awesome song last year to about 6 short lines. X_x
But that's the only major negative. Besides that, I'm waiting for Black/White, the 3DS, and my Senior class trip to NYC. All of which are in March. Hah. I'm also glad that I'll be done with high school this year. I can hardly believe it. But really I'll probably miss it.
Ahh, looking back in our conversation... well I am also, in art class, (I should be) finishing up my painting of the Pokemon Yellow box cover tomorrow! Heh. I mentioned I wanted to do it before, but yeah I actually did it. -
January 9th, 2011 1:01 PMlatioslegendsI can I say I have had more positives than negatives lately if that counts for something good.=]
On the side of negatives I still am looking for work around my county. School wise I've recieved quite a few projects from my AP classes as the marking period comes to a close. Family wise my sister has been a real pain; she's a great student and all but we've found out she's been doing marijuna with her delinquent friends (I consider her a delinquent as well, so it makes sense =P).
For the positives in my life, thankfully they are mostly one's of opportunity! =D I"ll be joining CAP (Civil Air Patrol) by the end of this month along with starting up another year in the Police Explorers. Adding on to this I think I have a shot of getting into the Naval Academy.
Their acceptance is only 1/10, so thats pretty intimidating.
but nevertheless I always have a backup plan. If it doesn't go to plan I'll apply to the Michigan Maritime Academy, or the Citadel in South Carolina. =)
So what is up in your life? -
January 8th, 2011 5:47 PMJustinDestructionHello! How goes life?
-
July 11th, 2010 11:57 PMlatioslegendsGood luck with that last meet, and as well with the test. To be honest though I still find it ridiclious you had to read that Anna novel as a requirement. Reading in the Summer is for enjoyment not for torturing thyself. =P
-
July 11th, 2010 5:57 PMJustinDestructionVery interesting! I'll definitely be hoping that eventually we will see another console Battlefront! Those games were so fun; my brother and I used to play for hours, just instant action matches.
Yeah, I've never read too many comics either. The most I've read was the graphic novel Watchmen. I'm not gonna start reading all these hard core mangas, but Death Note has me hooked! I am within the home stretch of Anna Karenina, and our final meeting is this Friday! After that, I am free! Though not really, because there's still a test and I have to read 2 more books, but I can choose them from a list, so it's much better that way. I can't decide between Frankenstein and Pride and Prejudice though. -
July 10th, 2010 6:26 PMlatioslegendsI might buy rising since Kojima never has let me down, but I am still a bit cautious. The gameplay looks good so far but I hope the game has some variety.
As for Battlefront, there WAS a 3rd in production but the company went bankrupt. =[ here's a vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j81I_-uaOqg good news though rebellion took over the production so it could come around, but not for a while at least. For Final Fantasy the game play ain't for me at all, and Resident Evil, only enjoyed the 4rth.
I ain't a big Comic Book reader, but from what I hear all the time, the Death Note Manga is pretty darn good.^^ -
July 10th, 2010 12:44 PMJustinDestructionYeah, some of my friends and I play on Xbox Live. Recently though, not at all. Hah.
Well, because he always hated me. lolz. He is an adherent of a girl that hates my girlfriend and I to such an extreme degree... it really makes no sense. But seeing that they both graduated last year, they drove by and blew air horns every night over the summer, threw a burger king Pokeball toy filled with chocolate sauce at my house, and now, a year later, continue to do similar things, I find it hard to believe that they will ever grow up. lolz.
And yes, The Smashing Pumpkins performed quite excellently, although Billy Corgan tends to pick odd setlists... and so was the case there. I have seen... Flyleaf and Skillet together, then I saw Projekt Revolution with Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, and HIM, among others... then I saw... Avenged Sevenfold with Shinedown, Buck Cherry, and Saving Abel, and then I saw Avenged Sevenfold with Papa Roach, Buck Cherry, and Burn Halo, and last night it was The Smashing Pumpkins with Bad City and Kill Hannah... the concert would have been much better had it only been the Pumpkins. We left during the encore-we had been there for 5 hours total, and they were playing for over 2 when we left. It was great though. As for Gaga, I cannot restrict myself to a genre of music, as I love it too much to be close minded. I detest the attitudes given with music and fights over whose genre is better, and so I just listen to anything good. Although I hate rap with a horrible passion-but I still like Eminem, Jay-Z and then random songs by random people. I like moderate amounts of classic rock, but usually the singers hold me back, because some of their voices just drive me up a wall. I'd generally say I like more obscure classic rock. Bowie is probably my favorite of the classic artists, but I enjoy Aerosmith, Ozzy, Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Metallica (if you consider them that, some do, others don't), Motley Crue, Queen... most of what I enjoy has roots from the 90's rock area though, Green Day, Bush, AFI, Soundgarden, The Smashing Pumpkins... ah I love tons of bands. Anyway though, to me, Gaga's style is not capable of being replicated. She is quite outlandish. Though her music just gets cemented into my brain and so I have decided to not fight it and become a fan.
Ah, I hadn't realized you were a fan of MGS! It has become probably my favorite franchise-though it is hard for me to say I like something more than Pokemon... and yes, Rising will be interesting-I will likely still have to buy it, despite that it will be different. It looked cool from the trailer at least. And I agree with your statement, I was imagining that it would have to be before MGS4 to make any sense. The ending to 4 was great.
As for franchises, I love Fallout as well, and Rogue Squadron and Battlefront were endlessly entertaining. I only wish they would make a new Battlefront for the consoles! I haven't played any of the other ones you mentioned though. I enjoy Final Fantasy as well as Resident Evil, Left 4 Dead, and Halo. I'm also greatly anticipating Golden Sun for DS... I loved the first two on the GBA. I also play Assassin's Creed, and I'm waiting for Force Unleashed 2 and Portal 2. Haha. Portal was a great game. So hilarious.
I gotta go to the mall today so I can get the 6th volume of Death Note manga. I don't generally read that stuff, but Death Note is awesome. The only other manga I've ever read was the Pokemon adventures, which I may buy the original ones of that sometime too.
Sorry if I overwhelmed you with text! -
July 9th, 2010 1:02 AMlatioslegendsOnline teams eh? I never could get a decent team together for Bad Company.
Space Invaders? By the sounds of it I'm guessing it turned out perfect.^^ though why in the world do you hate the dude?
Going to a concert? The sad truth is I never been too one. *shot* About the price, 50$ for a ticket ain't too bad. $45 has been the average around Detroit. As for your friend, meh I could never be jealous; reason I am no fan of Lady Gaga. Her music and costumes are too freaky for me. *pure classic rock fan*
Your actually both right and wrong on MGS 5. The next MGS is a spin off with Raiden. Too put it simple it ain't a game for the original fans; pure hack and slash. Recently though a MGS 5 was announced by Kojima. No details just yet but I'll be keeping an eye on it. Personally I really hope he keeps it before the events of MGS 4. The game had a very satisfying ending to the series, and was well worth the long cutscenes. And yes I am a MGS fan. -,- *sigh*
Actually there quite a few Franchises I like: Fallout, Uncharted, Star Wars (as a kid I could not resist Rogue Squadren and Battlefront), Mafia (I can say its a series since a second one is coming out this August), Valkyria (though the second is coming, I'll pass on it because of sterotype high schoolers), and last but not least; Brothers in Arms. -
July 8th, 2010 8:48 PMJustinDestructionPretty open, though I don't admit that I own the Pokémon dolls. Haha. Yes, it was an idea I've had in my head for a while... I took drawing class in my Sophomore year, but last year had no room for the next level, mixed media, in which you do drawing, painting, sculpting, and various forms of art. But I've had it planned for a while. You also get to do a silk screening for a shirt, though I have no idea what to do about that-too many possibilities. I was thinking of doing an emblem for Halo, because my friends that play it-which is about 5-6-all use this cat logo with a flaming head lol. I was thinking of making that onto shirts for us. Of course, we are the laughing stock of Xbox Live... it's always "hey look guys, a team of p***ies!"... and then we utterly destroy them lol. Every time they make one such remark, we always win. But we work horribly as a team-quite comical, actually.
Anyway though. Yeah, I kinda thought of it because this kid-who I now hate-did this really awesome Atari painting with Space Invaders last year. It was done all blocky and such, and I thought, it would be really cool if I painted the cartridge to an old Pokemon game. And the classic-ness of it does add to it, I must agree with you.
Tomorrow I am going to Colombus, Ohio to see The Smashing Pumpkins. I am quite excited. Me, my brother, dad, and girlfriend are staying at my dad's friend's house for the night. But it should be a good time. Meanwhile, my friend Emma from school is seeing Lady Gaga perform on the Today Show tomorrow morning, which I will admit I am somewhat jealous of. Especially since it is free! And if I had went to see her-which it is a good thing I didn't-the cheapest tickets were $50. Craziness.
But yes I'm rambling now. I need to keep pounding through Anna Karenina, and I'm almost at the end of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker... though nowhere near done with it. There's like 100+ extra missions, and a lot of replay value. Hideo Kojima is working on a game that is possibly Metal Gear Solid 5, which I find interesting, because I'm not sure how they could continue it... I quite love Metal Gear. Do you like any other franchises besides Pokémon? -
July 7th, 2010 11:20 PMlatioslegendsI guess your very open about your obession? XD Well I guess that makes us opposites there. You know if you do a painting of the classic cartridges that would be freakin sweet! Anything in the classic genre usually has a ton of appeal to anyone in my opinion.
-
July 6th, 2010 12:35 PMJustinDestructionHah, well I'm not sure what of use I really have. None of those ones though. My friends all know that I love Pokémon. I played and so did one other kid really, but then I got one of my friends to buy a DSi just for Platinum and he was obsessed with that and HG/SS, until he got mad cuz he couldn't catch Entei/Raikou for their running all over. Haha. I just admit it, and if I look stupid, oh well. I suppose I just don't care anymore! Next year in my art class I am planning on doing some Pokémon work... I am going to do a painting, though I can't decide what of... possibly the Pokethlon artwork, or of the original cartridges for Red/Blue/Yellow.... if I can't fit all though, just Yellow, since that was the first one I owned. So yeah, I suppose I just have a great friend group, in which most also like Pokemon. Which is cool.
-
July 4th, 2010 11:27 AMlatioslegendsWell as long as my buds don't know, I suppose I can be a poke nerd for a litte while. Yeah I have been buying more and trading more recently. The others I am looking for are Lugia EX, Shiny Latias, Shiny Latios, and Shiny Rayquazza from the EX Deoxys series. Also been keeping an eye out for Base set Charizards. If your trading I have quite a few I can offer. =P
So do you keep your pokemon fandom a secret, or do you admit it to your friends?^^ sadly in my case I can hardly work up the guts to spit it out. To be quite frank, the only thing my friends ever did find out about me in my personal life was that I'm conservative when it comes to politics.
Happy Independance day!
