Well, furry reptiles aren't unheard of. Isn't there a line of dragons in B/W with Beatles hair? I was just curious though, I probably wouldn't have been feeling the mane either. Not that I haven't tried similar... I sometimes go through countless iterations before I find just the right part or shade of yellow.

Eh, the mane was just a rough thing I tried and didn't follow through on so it looked rough and unfinished. Besides, it feels more like a reptile than a mammal so it seemed weird to give it a bunch of fur without going for a major reworking of the sprite.

...not that I'm against that. I just didn't have much time to work on it but I still wanted to show my "progress".

Oh, I meant like... the coloration. There are
only the green lines because this bad boy...

...Had a green mouth. You can also see where I got the
white around the eyes and the ears/horns/top-of-the-head tails.
You can get rid of the green altogether, if you want.

...How did it look with a mane, by the way?

The only things I can actually juggle are scarves. ;) The little hankie kinds, of course.

I didn't do anything to the head because I didn't want to overcrowd it since there's already a fine amount of detail there. I did try giving it a furry look though, trying to give it something like a lion's mane, but it didn't look all that great. I'll still try out a few things and maybe get it to look more like a thing.

Ooh, neat. Like I said, you're good with soft colors. :D
    It's definitely looking more like a.. a thing. A thing-shaped thing.
Did you experiment with yellow areas on the head at all? That might look nice...

I posted this nearly an hour ago, but it never went through... Huh. Also, I've never handled a live goose, but I'm better at juggling and making balloon animals than either of yous guys. ;)

Okay, so I didn't really have any ideas after all and just added stripes and dinosaur-like plates.

I think it's got the right amount of resemblance for it to work. I'm not a big fan of evolutions that look too much like each other. The creative fun is more in making them different, but still having some connection.

Actually, in reflection, it bears the slightest resemblance to one of the very first Pokemon sprites I made (below). Think there's anything to it? I kind of... Well, kind of don't, since the similarities are few, but still.

Yeah, it pretty much just needs touched up and shaded in B/W style, as that seems to be the standard the Communitydex is moving toward. Also, interesting detail. My sprites tend to look more like odd animals than Pokemon.

I really should look into how B/W sprites are done... I'm still spriting in the GBA style, and feel like I'm falling behind.

I'll try to work something out. Honestly though, it looks 90% done already.

Dunno, but you have a way with soft colors. Pink and yellow pastel? Blue with cream stripes? It only looks the way it does because it was based on this:

That's pretty nicely done. I could do something with it if you really don't want to bother. I have no idea what I would do though.

Hey, would you be interested in doing something with this sprite for the Communitydex?

I just threw it together as an example of... something-or-other, for... what's-his-name. He was a beginner, so it was mostly an example of form. In any case, I didn't put much thought into the shading. If you have the time (and interest) to touch it up and make it look, er, interesting, for the Communitydex, that would be great. :D

tl;dr, I just like to do lineart and want other people to do the hard parts.
