'_'; It seems like it'd score easy wins in your meta, because Prophecy is a very passive deck and Lightsworn has no great way to counter the deck's ability to rapidly output damage. Six Samurai cannot deal with GAM, because none of their staple Synchros can fight Heavy Infantry and they just get nuked by the card advantage and point removal the deck has.
Maybe it's your list that's built incorrectly? Are you running Genex Undine and 7-9 Atlanteans (the ones that act as discard fodder)? Are you running Abyss-sphere? (Other Abyss- S/T cards are pretty meh) Are you running 2 Abysspike, 3 Abysslinde, and 2 Abyssmegalo? etc.
I'm sure mine was a few on card mechanics. Some I understand and some I don't though I have other friends that are judges so they'd be able to help me.
Priority is a ***** too. I may have missed that one, though turn player always has priority until they state otherwise. I remember seeing three specific questions on priority and one dealt with card mechanics too.
As for Mermail I dunno I'm workin on a Mermail deck, but everyone is telling me not to waste my time. I think two of our better duelists have used it and they said it sucked. But their play styles don't really match up with the deck either so I don't know XD
Like I said every region has different opinions on decks. What works in one area doesn't always work in another.
What, why is nobody playing Genex Atlantean Mermail? They're top of tier 1 right now ... hyperconsistent and extremely strong. o_o
EDIT: Oh also the level 1 test is actually fairly easy; I took it with some fake info and got 90% (I dunno what mistakes I made though, lol - probably the ones regarding Priority?). It's nowhere nearly as crazy as DN's admin tests... those are actually real terror. I know every area has different decks that are currently "in". No one locally uses Chaos Dragons after the last Ban list update (cept myself). RIGHT now everyone is using Prophecy/Lightsworn/Six Samurai decks and an occasional Wind-up/Rescue Rabbit deck.
I'm still the only one to use Macro deck and I can compete fairly well with them. Last time I used it I almost made it into the top 16, but my tie breakers killed me. Not saying that I disagree with what you are saying. Yes Macro is a lower tier deck, but if you can get what you need before your opponent, then its a good deck that can still hold its own. As for dead draws, there are always ways to fix that if you know how/have the cards to do it.
No, it's not that ... Volcanic Rocket was played as a card that was similar to Stratos in that it was an instant +1 as soon as you summoned it (even if the deck couldn't use Blaze Accelerator that well - and anyway Blaze Accelerator is not that bad as point removal).
Re: Macro - yeah, you can have D. Fissure and Banisher, but the latter is fairly fragile while the former is not as disruptive; and yes, even taking into account that you have six copies of Macro plus a couple Banisher it's still rather weak, because one, the deck functions at sub-par levels unless it has a copy of Macro or pseudo-Macro out, and two, any subsequent copies of Macro or pseudo-Macro once you have the first largely become dead draws, especially in games where your opponent does not care at all about Macro's disruptive nature. I used to play Macro Monarchs a long time ago, and they've always been tier 3 at best, sadly. Because of a mixture of both of the reasons I listed above, Macro has never been and probably will never be a great "enabler" card - unlike something like Gateway of the Six Samurai or Wind-Up Factory, continuous S/Ts which provide great advantage but is not necessary to the function of the deck. (Gates of Dark World / Dark World suffer from a similar dilemma as well but DW do not suffer as much as Macro decks when Macro isn't on the field vs when Gates isn't on the field - Gates is just a constant source of free cards.)
Chaos Dragons are very good right now, and a decent choice; one of my friends really likes the deck. One thing to be noted is that it is basically shut down by a copy of Shock Master which calls "monster effects" - not that it matters, though, since the deck is able to output a huge amount of damage very quickly, and you should be okay as long as you don't get your field cleared away.
Because Burn decks which was the sole mechanic to the Volcanics fell through. It was easy to counter burn decks between '09-'11.
As for Macro, despite the name, Macro Cosmos isn't the center card. Dimensional Fissure and Banisher of Radiance are used a lot in both decks. Depending on the build you use, Control or Aggro, you set the decks up differently. Control Macro focuses on the monsters, a lot of lower powered monsters that are used to swarm the field and stay there as you slowly pull out the larger combos with the two Dark Monarchs or Zaborg/Mobius. Aggro focus on sheer power and prevent the opponent from summoning anything or pulling off summon comboes as the graveyard is blocked and everything is constantly removed. The Aggros rely on a lot of spells and traps to obliterate the opponent's field.
I'm a defensive type of player so my play style is slower than almost everyone and I just can't get into fast decks, so I tend to take my time with the beat down. I use the defensive control deck and combo DF/MC/BR with Gravekeeper's Servant to push an attack lock on my opponent.
My deck is like 4 years out of date as it can't use Synchros or Exeeds so I have a lot of work to do with it XD Which is why right now I'm running Twilight Dragons. (Light Sworn Engine)
Macro Cosmos isn't really a great card to base a deck around ... it's a brutal hate card though, and it's popular being used as such right now.
Hieratics are a combo deck. Did they draw their combo? Do you not have any answers? If the answer to both is "yes", it is basically game (of course there is the off-chance that the opponent doesn't know how to do the combo right, in which case free win).
Volcanics have always been "okay" and people used to really like Rocket's card advantage but the engine fell out of favor sometime between 2009 / 2010 for some reason ... I dunno why.
