I like being surprised. Seeing a bunch of loose elements come together at the end of a movie where I had no idea how they would tie together is a lot of fun for me.

Those stories without endings leave me feeling a little cheated.

Guess we are in the opposite in that area there. I just find stories without a real conclusion leave a bigger impression on me, I'm trying to figure out what happens for days. I love cliffhangers as well.
Sad endings are good too, I can't stand happy endings. I don't want to watch other people enjoy themselves god forbid.

Haven't seen it, haven't seen it, haven't seen it. Probably because I like happy endings. Or sad endings. Or bittersweet endings. Mostly I just like good conclusions and stores that wrap up nicely. Which Murakami doesn't do, which is why I have trouble reading him.

    Eraserhead, Mulholland, Space Odyssey

more that i cant remember probably also by Lynch and Kubrick BUT THE POINT IS, I enjoy ******** cop out endings, more fun that way. I don't want to know how it ends, I like my imagination to think it out for me.

If they were aiming for something to rake in the money, then no they would never make a film of it. I think it would be good artistically though.

I can see why Sputnik Sweetheart hasn't been made into a movie. It had a kind of non-ending and ambiguous characters. The characters build up to something and then it just kind of leaves you there wondering what's going on without much resolution of anything.
