I think they dealt with no Russian kind of poorly too. The idea was good but, as soon as all the armed guys came it was just another shoot em up. I also don't get why you couldn't just shoot Makarov there and then/
I found MW2's story to be the same as pretty much every other shooter or military movie. The Russian airport level, for example, was executed in a really poor way and failed to evoke the response in the player as IW had intended.
Being enjoyable doesn't make something good though.
Yes, it did what it set out to do, but it wasn't deep in any way. I enjoyed the singleplayer campaign for what it was: a solid shooter with some good gunplay.
I don't think mw2's story was anything short of good. Albeit it doesn't stand up to some of the other big hitters of 2009, but it was enjoyable and it delivered.
I mostly need the 3+ player parts since I have a second pad I can use on my own to get the others.
And then I need to work on acing the levels, with The Bunker being a real pain.
