    Man, I haven't been able to touch my computer for ages- I didn't get to play past where I last said. I sent you a PM, but got a blank screen when it reloaded, so I guess it didn't send. Sorry dude, I've been really busy- I've got a German oral exam and a piano exam next week, and I'm desperately trying to study/practice for them:( along with that, I've got alot of homework, despite being on a week off.
    I'm sorry, dude, I should have told you sooner. I could try tonight after I'm done with schoolwork, but.. Well, you've already waited ages, so I don't know. I really have tried, I'm sorry it's taken this long to actually hear from me.
    Like I said, I'll try my best to have it tonight for you, but...

    Heads up, though- it's likely that, for the next two and a half months, I'll be as busy as this- if not even busier. I've got state exams at the end of June, and I really.. Well, I have to do well. Having said that, I definately wont be able to spend any time on the computer, so... During that period, I wouldn't be able to do any work for you. So if you have any plans to release a beta during the next two and a half months, then you'll need to find another tester. Sorry, bro.)

    For the record, I had to use an Action Replay code to give me rare candies (so incompetent, I couldn't actually make the hidden item work in-game, as you suggested...) but I put them all around level 17 when I started, so I can still see how challenging the Trainers are.
    Again, deepest apologies for not having done anything in this long, (and evidently, since the PM didn't work) for taking this long to reply. Talk to you later.

    Hm, I hadn't even thought about awards, lol. I'm not even sure how that works...
    Glacidea, like the Gracidea flower? I love the Snow-lax idea, can't wait to see it :D
    Maybe I'll try messing around with Emerald sometime, though I've already decided on Firered for my next hack, out of necessity. Of course, I'm planning a bit far ahead :P
    As for Hidden Ties flashing, I was thinking that there would still be a black silhouette while the letters weren't flashing. I may have the wrong understanding, but I believe that the way flashing works is it displays two different pictures in succession, right? So would it be possible to overlay the embedded letters with black silhouette, hiding them, and the embedded silhouettes with the flashing letters? Not sure if I really explained that well...
    Yeah, I'll definitely look into editing Constrict, once I've finished off the scripting.

    Well, you're a pretty great hacker, yourself. It's uncommon to see a hacker who can script for themselves as soon as they release their hack (as opposed to those who post a thread with intentions of learning, but still seeking scripters). I mean, most of us, like me, can work with maps and graphics, but only have basic, if no scripting knowledge. Being able to script for yourself is more efficient, it means you have almost total control over the hack's progress (unless you're waiting on a job from someone else ^^').
    I know, I understand why you wouldn't want to include visual gore- that can stop you from winning awards, I think, and while that wouldn't be my first priority, it's nice to know you have a chance, right?
    Yeah, eye candy is great:D my hack has a snowy town, called Glacidea Town, and just for the sake of it, I have a Snow-lax. As in a Snorlax made of snow. A little guy standing in front of it says "Hey, check out what I made!", lol. I dunno, it seemed like original eye candy at the time, so.. Yeah.
    Anyway, that's cool, I love manipulating the existing tiles, too- although unfortunately the Emerald tiles are all generally yuck, and the existing secondary tiles don't go with my inserted ones at all, so.. Yeah, total replacement is needed.
    Oh, yeah, Emerald is great. You just need to make a crapload of backups, as occasionally random things go wrong- such as the voicegroups, the music generally goes a bit crazy.
    For the title screen.. That wouldn't look weird, I think it'd be cool, but I dunno if it's possible to have separate things flashing... You could have some letters "embedded" into the background, and the others flashing, so for example you'd always see H D E T E, but the I D N I S would flash on and off, filling the words. That's about as close as you could get, I think.
    And for Tentakill, cool, make him strong :P I always thought the evo line wasn't great, I mean Tentacruel are generally easy to beat, but.. With better speed and attacks like Crunch, it'd be pretty formidable. Oooh yeah, I love when moves are edited- Constrict should be improved, definately. With Bind, I'm surprised it's not decent already. They're both essentially the same, save for Bind's extra "damage".
    Wow, they're sort of alarming now. This is exactly 2303 characters long...

    Ah well, I'll go check. It's no biggie anyway.
    As for the quote, don't mention it. I like Anselection well enough (did some scripting for him on his hack), but I know that I personally hate it when people I disagree with assume I'm on their side. And you are a good hacker, so you deserved the compliment.
    Yeah, I'm not too big on graphic gore, but I see what you mean. It wouldn't really work though, because if you noticed in the hack, there was no trace of a body. I may make that significant later on, and until I know if and how I'll do so, I'll just leave out blood just in case I regret it later.
    I wasn't sure if the fade in/out would be possible, I've never really attempted intro screen editing (though I think I might have a shot at tile editing... more on that later). In that case, it would probably be best to just have solid letters, with no flashing or fading.
    You know, maybe I'll look at Emerald for my next hack, seems like it's got a lot of room for modification. That's cool that you'll have secondary trees though, I just have a thing for eye candy ;)
    I just looked at a tile editing tutorial, and it looks way easier than I'd thought, so I might try inventing and inserting a few tiles to a guinea pig rom, and maybe change some for HT later. I've also hijacked and edited the tiles from Erika's gym, so now I've got some cool little bush-trees and an extra flower tile.
    Oh wait, I just had a random but potentially awesome thought. For the intro screen, what if every other letter flashed at once, so it would look like H D E T E, then I D N I S. Would that look excessively wierd?
    I'm planning on giving Tentakill Crunch, just because he's actually got a mouth. I'm also giving serious consideration to upgrading Constrict (the most pointless move in the game... even fails to Splash, because at least Splash is funny...). As for stats, I'm thinking probably an upgraded version of Tentacruel (duh), so a special wall primarily, with good speed and upgraded Sp.Atk.
    ...you're right, they're getting longer with each post...

    Lol, I think you'll find your VMs grow steadily longer the more you talk to me. It genuinely happens to everybody else who talks to me, strangely, haha. Ok, so no more saying.. That name. Good. Although.. There's a post in the thread where you said the name, a good while ago. Maybe look for that and edit it too, just in case some brainiac decides to go rooting.

    Anyway, I suggested the blood because.. Well, you know, after all those people being killed in the Utopia Project HQ, I didn't really think blood mattered, lol. Although, scary/ominous doesn't have to be bloody/gory, so it's all good:D
    Anyway, I've sent him a VM asking, I'm sure he'll say yes, as he's awesome, as I said. I wouldn't think he's thought too much about the stats or movepool, either, and I've never thought about it at all, so I'm assuming it's fine in that regard too.
    About the title screen... I'm not really sure you can do that with Fire Red. By fading, you mean like the ancient lines would on Groudon/Kyogre/Rayquaza's body on an RSE Title screen, right? I'm not sure the FR Screen supports that- you can make it flash, alright, but it's not a steady fade-in-fade-out thing, it just flashes, which would look pretty... Meh, compared to fading.
    With regards to the tree... Ah, if only you said that a few weeks ago, lol. Well, actually... That tree is the region's main tree, used everywhere. But, thanks to Emeralds excessive amounts of secondary tilesets, almost every town has it's own type of tree. Although I'm thinking of having the same secondary tree in each tileset, as it'll be a heck of a lot easier to manage, lol.

    Our VMs are getting freakishly long. I'm typing this in Notepad so that I can read your post and make sure I'm responding to everything O.O
    Yeah, Tentakill would be great, if Pokeyomama doesn't mind. I've already got some ideas for the stats and moveset additions (though if you or PYM has any preferences in that regard, let me know).
    0.o I completely forgot there was a trial period, and my hex editor just blew up. So... I'll try to find a new one, I guess...
    Regarding the title screen, no need for blood (this is, after all, a Pokemon game, lol), but I think just the braille on a rock wall would actually look pretty cool, with the game title overhead. Actually, instead of the traditional style for the actual title, would it be possible to have shadowed letters, with the "Hidden Ties" script fading in and out from black to light blue (with the normal Pokemon logo overhead)? Or am I making things needlessly complicated?
    Yeah, I really love what you did with the trees in that tileset, they look fantastic. Just a suggestion, but I really enjoy playing hacks that have more than one type of tree in the tileset. Just a thought, but it's cool to have two different styles of tree just to add eye candy, in addition to the skinny trees.
    Ideas are free, lol, especially since you really inspired that one (if by accident), and that would be really cool.
    Ah, so this is an Emerald hack, I suppose that makes sense, if you wanted to use Deoxys Spd. I can do some scripting for you if you need it (though I don't know... testing my hack may have turned you off to my scripting, lol). And by now you've probably already seen my response to your PM.
    Btw, I'm editing my earlier VM to take out that Fakemon name, I'm going to see if anyone will actually decipher the braille hint in-game.

    Haha, really? Tentakill.. Well, if you want it, I suppose that should be alright, lol. I'll have to ask Pokeyomama, as it's his concept, just my art, but he's awesome, so he should be fine with it.
    Well... Ok, I'll make a pic showing you the steps to do it. Text alone makes it a bit complex, but with picture's you can actually see what's involved, rather than just read.
    And yeah, Hex Workshop is good, but I've already used the 30-day trial, unfortunately, so it's expired and I can't use it unless I buy the full one (which I can't do as I haven't got proper internet anyway)
    <explanation- I use my mobile phone's internet for everything. When I send files to you, I port them to my phone via USB, and upload them that way. When I download files (tools, graphics, the betas from you and such) it's vice versa- I download them to my phone, and transfer them to my PC>
    Anyway, that sounds like a cryptic title screen, I like the idea:) although you'd want a bit more in it, right? I mean.. On a cave wall with blood dripping down, or something?! Lol, I dunno. No rush, anyway.
    Ah, I'm glad I'm actually getting feedback on that screenshot, lol (I didn't really post it in expectance, I just wanted a teaser. It's cool that I'm getting it, though- first chrunch, now you:D)
    thank's, I'm personally proud of my trees. I wanted DP Trees, but not ones that totally filled out the 32x48 pixels, as they looked bad when they were beside each other. So I just.. Sprited my own tree, lol. All tiles in my hack will be sprited by me, or ported from Fire Red (but that's really just the gatehouse and that's it).
    Also, the waterfall.. I noticed that myself, it does look a bit strange, like it's coming out from the wall- but I think that's just how you map waterfalls. I looked at the Ever Grand City map, and.. Its waterfall is the same. However, you're idea rocks, and I may do that. I'd have to duplicate the Waterfall tiles so they'd cover the player, but.. Still, that's a brilliant idea. And have an NPC nearby complaining that there's no way to proceed:D Yay, ideas:P Thanks for that.
    Anyway, I'll bear you in mind. I'm doing ALL maps first, then moving on to scripting (which I've to learn properly). I've also replaced every Emerald OW with the Fire Red ones (an hour of my life I'll never get back), so it's basically an overhaul on the graphics- I kinda thought Emerald needed it.
    Actually, I've found a way you may be able to help me. Remember a month or so ago, I told you about- nah, I'll PM you, lol:D

    I was pretty much thinking of just inserting him for the heck of it, and I think you're right; there's just no point... though I'd love to insert Tentakill if you think that's feasible (lol, out of the blue, but I really love the concept).
    I'm plodding along with the beta, just got done with some mapping today. I still need to insert a ton of scripts, and I haven't yet decided where I want to end this release... Once it's ready, I'll send you the patch.
    Regarding hex editors, Hex Workshop is supposed to be pretty good (I'm not too experience with hex editing, but I've messed around with it somewhat). If you can tell me exactly what, where, and how to edit, I can go in and try myself. I'd learn something too :)
    An intro screen would be fantastic. I'd like to have the fakemon's name written across the background in Braille (if you need to know what that'll look like, it's actually in the next patch), but other than that I'm stumped. You have more experience than me in this sort of thing, what do you think?
    Oh, and I'm intrigued by that Infinity screenshot in your sig (nice tiles, btw). It looks like the waterfall is hitting the pond a tile beyond the rock wall, I don't suppose there's something back there? If there's anything I can do to help you with your project, just let me know; I owe you one ;)

    No, you're not a jerk, you had said before you'd be changing something- this was just a preview of the style I'd be using, and whether you wanted me to change it or not.
    The Big towns/cities are custom, and have to be. I mean, I could just magnify the normal one like you did, but they'd still have to go in as separate tiles when making a tilemap. (I kinda have an idea on how to insert it, but I'd have no way to change the colours, as my only hex editor, Translhextion, is crapping out on the Search function, which I need for it to be actually useful. I can't seem to find any others, so that's why I made no promise to insert it).
    Anyway, Zorua and Zoroark...
    Personally, I wouldn't. All that's known about them is their type, basically, so you'd be plucking stats and movesets from thin air. However, if you think you could fit them into the story or something, then I'll insert them definately. But if it were me, I wouldn't insert them just for the sake of it.
    Then again, if you just want them for the sake of it, that's fine too, and I will.
    I've also to insert Chatot, remember? Maybe.. Make a list of all the things needed for next beta, send it on with a patch, then I'll do them and test for you. That'll be the handiest way.
    (if you really want to insert the Zorua line, I hope I haven't dissuaded you or anything. It's only my opinion- your hack, your Pokemon. I'm just here to do what's needed:)
    Oh, and thanks for the comment on Tentakill.:) My friend, Pokeyomama, said he'd love to see a Tentacruel evo, and I had free time one day, so.. Yeah, there's the result. I'm glad anyone who looks at it likes it, lol.
    I haven't seen you around for a good while, good to talk to you again :D
    EDIT: Oh, by the way... Have you been thinking about a Title Screen? I could work on one for you, if you had any ideas?

    Seriously though, fantastic job! I may just take another shot at inserting it once it's done, see if I can get it right this time.
    Btw, you know Zorua and Zoruark, the two 5gen Pokemon they've released? I'm thinking about inserting those to HT (translation, I'm considering begging you to insert them for me). D'you think that would be a good idea, or a bit premature?

    At the moment, I'm having some minor problems with the fact that my Chatot OW is monstrous (though Wigglytuff came out great), so that event may look a bit...wierd...
    ...
    Oh well... but you definitely met Wigglytuff and Chatot, as far as you got. The basic plan is just to have a side quest where the player can help Wigglytuff rescue Chatot. As for the item sprites, those might not even be necessary, it depends on how certain aspects of the storyline work out.
    The biggest thing I'll need soon is another beta test once stage 2 is ready, you did a fantastic job with that last time. Thanks again for all your help!
