October 1st, 2009 10:09 AMTyrosHaha, true. n.n Although, I do like battling just for the sake of battling, so I probably wouldn't have a problem having a match against you if you wanted to use hax stuff. XD; I might be the only one, though. >__>;
And yeah... I'm a fan of all the N64 generation of Pokemon console games. The Stadiums, Pokemon Snap was fun, if not ridiculously short. XD; I even enjoyed novelty stuff like Hey You, Pikachu! to a degree. n.n Gamecube was only okay... XD and Colosseum had a story mode at least. And now, they release something that's nothing but battling endlessly on the Wii. >__>; It's terrible. I really hope they change it with the next game that's projected to be coming out.

October 1st, 2009 3:15 AMMiriaHaha no problems. ^^ I'm quite firm with my opinions I suppose..! But I don't have to battle using the rules I don't like so I shouldn't complain really. lol Unless I start challenging people and stuff on these forums.. Doh! :P Well, yeah I agree with you there, pretty much all Pokemon games apart from most on the DS / GBA / GB have been ****..! Although Pokemon Stadium was quite fun. ^^ Especially when you could pick between all of the Pokemon available and make a team from that.
-
September 30th, 2009 3:10 PMTyrosYeah... That's actually why I don't like it much. XD; Just because it's given me so many problems. n.n; That, and it lacks a story, any kind of fun aside from just battling over and over and over, no mini-games, no point to playing it, honestly.
I wish they'd make a Stadium for Wii. D: Like the two they made long ago, on N64.
And yeah, I know, it's not really an argument. XD; I guess I'm just too used to forum chats going sour suddenly. n.n; But the other reason I figured I'd stop defending the current way of battling is 'cause it seems that you're pretty well set in your opinion. XD; So, I'll respectfully stop trying to change it. n.n

September 30th, 2009 1:50 PMMiriaHehe Oh no, not arguing. ^^ Just a little discussion ! You played lots of Pokemon Battle Revolution on the wii btw? There's some crazy haxx luck going on there in the rank 7-8 battles! :P
-
September 30th, 2009 8:48 AMTyrosLuck almost never favors me. XD; That's the bothersome part for me.
And sure, Taunt would've been great... Except it only needed one Double Team to mess me up. I didn't know it was gonna use it, so I wouldn't have known to taunt it until after the first one. o__o
Anyway... I'm gonna let it stand that we have differing opinions there. XD; No need to get into any kind of epic argument about it. n.n I'll just stick with my, 'sometimes there's just no countering luck.' thoughts. XD;

September 30th, 2009 8:44 AMMiriaWell, yeah but that's still whining about abilities and possibilites everyone can have and that are all part of the game as well as part of Pokemon battles. If you've played it long enough against NPC's and in the Colosseum battles etc, they don't make any exceptions and you get used to having **** luck sometimes, sometimes it favors you. ^^ It's supposed to be unexpected and a little luck based. I simply don't agree with taking things out just because they're annoying, find a way to counter them instead. Example, don't let a Pokemon use Double team too many times, taunt it? Hit it with moves that can never miss, example Swift and Areal Ace. :P Against Garchomp, use a high defense pokemon that can take the blow then go for a 1hit. Use Protect/detect.. Switch out if you're sand attacked too many times etc.. =]
-
September 30th, 2009 8:31 AMTyrosXD Well, Garchomp happens to do it better, simply because I'm pretty sure he's faster than almost anything OU (Except, like, Ninjask, who doesn't hit all too hard) and he has an excellent movepool. n.n Trust me, it does make sense.
About the Wobbuffet, though... Yeah, it makes sense not to hit it until you need to... But if you just start using Stat-upping moves, or things that don't hit, then it can just Encore you, then switch out into something that'll kill you while you're helpless, trapped in Encore. o__o
And finally... Well, I know where you're coming from, but here's the thing about luck:
I once had a match where a Vaporeon in PBR double teamed once. After that, absolutely nothing I did hit it, and it swept my team. Even when I double teamed back 3 times, it hit every single time.
Can I say I lost because I wasn't skilled enough? Nope. Do I know what I have to do it make sure that doesn't happen again? Not at all. I lost because of random luck. (It was the 85th or so fight on the 100-battle-marathon thing, too.)
This is why they try their best to take out things that rely on luck for winning, because then it's never clear who trained their Pokemon the best, or who predicted their opponents moves best.
See what I'm saying? Double Team, Bright Powder, Focus Band, where you randomly hang on with 1 HP... You never know when they're gonna kick in. And if they kick in at a place that completely screws you over... Well, what would've happened if it didn't? You just lost because of luck, and that's just crappy.
...
I also hate luck items because I tend to have to worst luck, too. XD; So, I'm one of those examples that always get messed up because of it. >__>;

September 29th, 2009 2:34 PMMiriaHehe well, with a Wobbuffet, I simply don't hit it untill I have to. :P And I prefer playing double battles. As long as you ignore it, it can't do squat..! And I can think of a lot of good Pokemon that are very fast and all hit like bloody trucks. :P Imo, it's not quite fair or right to ban Pokemon and held items from battles, unless it's banning legendaries obviously which you naturally don't really like to fight.. But everything else, it's in the game and meant to be used.. people should just deal with it and learn to handle it instead of complaining and banning it.

September 29th, 2009 1:54 PMTyrosWell, I can't really say much about Wynaut (I think it might be accidentally there, 'cause I can't see it fighting in a real match very well. O__o)
But Garchomp: Have you ever fought one who trained it the way it's supposed to be trained? It's lightning fast and hits like a truck. A combo that's really hard to switch into in any tier other than Ubers.
And Wobbuffet: Again, it comes down to fighting someone who knows how to use it. It's got Counter, Mirror Coat, Encore and either Safeguard or Tickle. The combo of Encore and Counter/Mirror Coat means that it's definitely gonna send a hard hit back your way, and almost guarantees a knock out because of its high HP.
More importantly, because of Shadow Tag and the way that it auto-traps opponents in with it, it can't be countered. That's a very important aspect of the metagame, countering, and if something can't be countered, then it's very powerful. (Wobbuffet is the only Pokemon that literally can't be countered.)

September 29th, 2009 11:49 AMMiriahehe yeah that's true. ^^ Wobbuffet and pre-evo aswell as Garchop, why are they considered such tough ubers? I don't generally find them hard to fight? lol
-
September 29th, 2009 9:37 AMTyrosWell, you can still use Latias. n.n Just don't equip it with Soul Dew. That stat boost the item gives her makes her strong enough to be an Uber.
And, besides, that doesn't necessarily mean you can't use them... Just build an Ubers team to face off against other Ubers teams. *Nods some* -
September 29th, 2009 8:51 AMMiriaAha I see. =] Well that was very informative ! Thanks a lot. Shame my faves Lugia, Ho-oh, Latias/Latios and Mew can't be used! lol Atleast the legendary beasts and birdies are ok. ^^
-
September 29th, 2009 7:25 AMTyrosXD One second, I'll write up a quick list.
NU - The Lowest Tier
Articuno
Entei

All those are considered fine to use in normal play against people, and those in OU and UU especially will probably be found on most people's teams. *Nods*
The ones that are considered Uber, and too powerful for any play aside from against other Ubers and a handful of OU Pokemon are:
Arceus
Darkrai
Deoxys (All forms)
Dialga
Garchomp (One of only 3 non-legendary Pokemon that appear here.)
Giratina (Both formes)
Groudon

September 29th, 2009 6:31 AMMiriaAh right. ^^ So which ones don't count as ... too strong and too cheat? lol
-
September 29th, 2009 6:20 AMTyrosXD For most of 'em, it really is kinda like cheating if you use them against anything but other Legends. For others, though... They work fine in OU, which is why I'm making a Jirachi. n.n
... Double post... Curse you interwebz! DX
