June 11th, 2010 9:08 AMEsperIt seems like everyone and every house has a different setup. I don't watch much television so I don't know all the detail though. It's nuts.
It's a shame no one has a time machine so they can go back and stop that from happening. I bet that's what everyone says. -
June 11th, 2010 12:14 AMPokémon Ranger ✩ MoriartyAhhh, I didn't realise you had to pay for channels like HBO. I thought they came included in regular channel packages >: *clueless about American television*
Whoever thought of the Regeneration idea when William Hartnell (1st Doctor) announced he was too old to carry on doing the show was a genius. Unfortunately the first ever Regeneration episode is lost thanks to some idiot ordering some of the older episodes destroyed to make space in the BBC archive >: A lot of Second Doctor stuff is lost forever. -
June 10th, 2010 8:58 PMEsperI heard Rome was pretty good. I sometimes forget about HBO and those other exclusive channels. They're a step up from regular TV, but only because people are willing to pay for shows that are a little more raunchy than the regular fare I think.
It's got a great formula. It's the show that can go on forever. I was always a little disappointed growing up that there were only so many reruns of Star Trek I could watch. It seemed like they only played the same 10 episodes over and over. -
June 10th, 2010 12:37 AMPokémon Ranger ✩ MoriartyI think America's getting better at good television! HBO especially. When I have a job, I'm going to buy a load of HBO boxsets from HMV :3 Especially Rome.
It was a low budget show, but it was amazingly popular. Even when they tried to cancel it during the Sixth Doctor's run, so many people complained that they brought it back. Really, there was no British television that had a good budget until the 1990's - we were so poor, we couldn't afford it. :-( -
June 9th, 2010 7:14 PMEsperThose old managers must have come to America because (for the most part) we still haven't got good television here. You'd think that eventually by accident it would happen, but no.
But really, I read that it was a pretty low budget show. Like the spare change you find in the couch low budget. It's amazing it lasted. -
June 9th, 2010 12:31 AMPokémon Ranger ✩ MoriartyYes, there are several occasions where the serialisation of the show just doesn't work. :| Normally it was because the script writers were at the mercy of their clueless managers, who knew sod all about good telly.

June 8th, 2010 2:53 PMEsperAnd I always though fan fiction started with Star Trek.
They wouldn't be so bad to watch if they'd known about pacing and tried to incorporate it into the episodes. That's what kills it for me. -
June 8th, 2010 2:41 PMPokémon Ranger ✩ MoriartyHaha, yep, corny British telly at its best! x]
A lot of the old Doctor Who serials are simply terrible, but if you ever wanted to get into them then I'd recommend the Second Doctor story "The Mind Robber". Trufax: the Doctor saves the day by...writing fan fiction. -
June 8th, 2010 2:12 PMEsperYes, but I've seen almost nothing of the older series. Just some of the very first episodes, which are awful, but a fun kind of awful.
