January 7th, 2011 7:30 PMVernikovaYeah, you explained to me your Killer Moth problems.
Okay, I think I understand your problems here.
Raven was my favorite Titan from the animated series so it's a shame to learn that they ****ed her up so badly. This is certainly a lot of suff to take in. -
January 7th, 2011 7:21 PMCharaxesThe animated versions are now considered as part of canon AU, but not what I meant. Wikipedia will help in depth, there. As it gives me a headache.
Dick, originally, he had a bad relationship with a new lady crimefighter. Bad meaning drugs and emotional screwing up. After that, dated the Silver Age Batgirl, Barbara Gordon. (You know her from Batman: TAS). Proposed, told no, and almost died in Infinite Crisis. (Superboy, yeah, the one in Justice, was the target instead.) Now, he's Batman, after a sticky wicket with Batman R.I.P. (I don't mind Dick as Batman, but DC went about it in the wrong way, I think.)
Raven was officially dead in 2003 or a spirit form, until she was revived. (I think the animated series and her popularity within had much to do with it.) And then, they did nothing with her, for the most part. Why bother reviving her, if you don't have a role for her? I read up on her, tonight, and it's possible she has a son now. Yeesh.
And Killer Moth, I already explained to you, didn't I? Then, after doing nothing with him, they killed him in a throwaway panel in Infinite Crisis. Headdesk.
Yep. My head hurts remembering all that. Heh. -
January 7th, 2011 7:12 PMVernikovaWhat would be considered AU though? Would JL be AU? What about Beyond? I would assume that B:TBaTB would be AU.
What exactly happened? -
January 7th, 2011 7:05 PMCharaxesActually, DC does do a lot of AU. Dick Grayson has had multiple versions. To the point, where it was a editorial nightmare to edit. So, Crisis of Infinite Earths was done. Killed off all the worlds, save for one and merge all the continuity. But DC effed up, anyway, and they had to do it, again, many times.
Headdesk. This is why I hate comics, and why I do my stupid canon rule. Actually, what happened to Dick, Raven and Killer Moth is why I walked away in 2004. Happy I never looked back. -
January 7th, 2011 7:00 PMVernikovaOkay. :)
But couldn't they just AU for the hell of it instead of making two different characters? -
January 7th, 2011 6:51 PMCharaxesNo, this is good. We can ignore stupid decisions by the execs. Apply to your other shows.
Part of it was for new directions in storytelling. Others, it's for sheer legacy, and can be done cheaply but still have "Character X" around. (I re-edited Jason Todd's name out, as I didn't know how familiar he is with you. Although, in the Batman series in the 90's, the second Robin was Drake with Todd's origin/background.) The second Kid Flash in the comics is the result of the latter, for legacy's sake, as he already had his own established identity as a crimefighter. -
January 7th, 2011 6:48 PMVernikovaOkay. :(
I understand it much better now. Why are there two Robin's though (Not including Todd I guess)? Is it just for creative liberties or was there an earlier series that made it that way? -
January 7th, 2011 6:40 PMCharaxesWe'll ignore that, as per stupid canon.
Justice's Robin is confirmed to be Grayson, even though, the current comic series the animated series seem to be based on, it's Drake. Yeah. (I thought it was Tim, and it doesn't help that Tim has mad hacking skills. Dick has them, too, but not like Tim's.)
Titans, it's Dick, but it's complicated. In the first season, they wanted to make Robin a composite with bits of Dick and Tim. However, in Season Two, Nightwing appeared, which is purely Dick in his adult alter ego, plus Larry the Titan. (They played up a visual cue, spelling out that Larry is a dimensional alternative of Dick.) There is also Haunted, when Raven was in his mind. The scene played like it was Dick's, but there is Tim's origin to consider briefly.
If all fails, Stranded captured Dick's inability to relate to Starfire perfectly. Tim is not... emotionally stunted around women, or not compared to Dick.
As I said, it's a little complicated. Got it? -
January 7th, 2011 6:33 PMVernikovaI agree he is awesome. Too bad his character was killed off so soon in G. I. Joe.
So if I understand you correctly, Titan's Robin is Drake and Justice's Robin is Grayson? -
January 7th, 2011 6:26 PMCharaxesFair enough.
Yeah, but Phyton's so awesome, it is forgiveable. I have to admit, I wasn't prepared for Black Aqualad. heh. No worries, though.
The big difference between Drake and Grayson, it depends. Grayson was the first Robin, and has been called the soul of the DC Universe, as everyone has worked with him. Not that Drake was morally inferior, as Tim just hasn't been in the game as long. Until his parents were killed by editorial control, Tim had a rather stable life. Whereas, Dick pushed himself fully into the superhero game, as he had no one else, save for Bruce and Alfred.
Tim's origin was also fascinating, as they retconned him into the circus tent where Dick's parents fell and died. And then, he did the detective work by himself, and figured out the rest. (I don't believe it, but there wasn't anything say he wasn't there. Heh.)
Is that a good start? Been a while, since I had to explain Tim vs. Dick. Heh. -
January 7th, 2011 6:20 PMVernikovaYou're right. I can't think of one time recently.
Wonder Girl's design is ugly. I have nothing else to go on.
Cyborg's VA is, like, typecasted for every black hero role isn't he? XD
I've always wondered what the difference between Drake and Grayson. Could you explain it to me?
Hopefully. -
January 7th, 2011 6:14 PMCharaxesGood luck with that.
Well, it was easier when they were with WB, but now, I'm not sure, since everyone has parted ways. Supergirl might, so don't rule her out. And why no like Wonder Girl?

Good stuff, as apparently, it is Dick Grayson as Robin. Thought it was Tim Drake. Also, Cyborg's VA from Titans voices Aqualad. Awesome.
Final season, and hopefully, it will go away for good. -
January 7th, 2011 6:09 PMVernikovaStill thinking.
That's interesting since I always thought that DC shows would be able to use any DC character without any problems. Still wish she would be on though. And I don't like Wonder Girl anyway.
That still airs? -
January 7th, 2011 6:02 PMCharaxesNo, never.
Yes, but you have to understand on copyrights, as comic copyrights in media are very complicated. (It's why Wonder Girl wasn't allowed on Teen Titans, for example. But, she was with Titans Go, the comic version, as that was fully owned by DC.) I don't totally agree, as Artemis and Ms. Martian have their following, and haven't been converted for new media. (Ironically, Ms. Martian is the reason I would watch.) Also, you want someone who has been identified with the team. In fairness, Supergirl has been a Titan in the books, but it isn't as obvious. Compared that to Starfire or Raven, as they are core Titan members.
And, Supergirl is also on Smallville, so there is that issue. -
January 7th, 2011 5:57 PMVernikovaUmmmmmmmmmm
I understand now. I kind of wished that they used Super Girl instead of Artemis or Ms Martian though.
