Yeah, true, but many languages do. Word order is one of the easiest things for me to grasp, actually. Spanish uses SOV, although German uses SVO like English as far as I can tell (only been studying it for eleven weeks).

I hate when people complain about having to read long posts. The worst abbreviation in the history of ever is 'tl;dr'. *shudders* If somebody writes me a long VM/review, all it tells me is that they actually care enough to take the time to do that. which is why I sometimes leave fanfiction reviews that are longer than the chapters I'm reviewing orz

I post my fanfiction both here and at Serebii. I've only got one fic going at the moment, Champion Game, because doing more than one never works out for me.

Also, writer's block is a myth! I have decided this recently because I use it as my excuse for everything. Hurk.

I know right? :D But they do get a bit complicated as you progress T_T

Haha, great minds think alike then! xD I was afraid you were going to beat me up with a face like this >:B which will make me look like this #_O I wonder why some people don't like to read/write a lot. D:

That's cool :D Where do you write your fanfiction at? I've started stories but they're all still on my computer, with writer's block >.<

Waaaaaait . . . Subject, object verb? As in . . . SOV? As in . . . the same structure every sensible language in the world uses?! 8D

Writing lots is fine, writing lots is good! I should write some more too, I have a faaaanfiction chapter to finish and I need to find a way to get Elesa into it somehow. :U

My teacher told me that French, Spanish, German, and other languages start off by making you conjugate the words. In Japanese, we just start off with the vocab and sentence structure (in my classes). But, we did start conjugating verbs this year (starting to learn how to speak informally). The characters for Japanese? Yeah, it does look like a lot - 46 compared to 26. But once you learn one set, the other is really easy to remember. The way I learned last year was that we learned 5 a day (starting from the left column).

    あ か さ た な は ま ら や わ ---a--ka--sa--ta--na--ha--ma--ra-ya-wa
    い き し ち に ひ み り ---------i---ki--shi-chi--ni---hi---mi---ri
    う く す つ ぬ ふ む る ゆ を ---u--ku--su--tsu-nu---fu--mu--ru-yu-wo
    え け せ て ね へ め れ ---------e--ke--se--te--ne--he--me--re
    お こ そ と の ほ も ろ よ ん ---o--ko--so--to--no--ho--mo--ro--yo--n

Note: を is said the same as お, but used as a particle to mark the object in a sentence. は is also used as a particle to mark the subject

Basic Sentence Structure: (subj.) は(obj.) を (verb)

    わたしはにほんごをはなします。 - I speak Japanese.

(And that's your crash course on Japanese 101! To learn more, please buy our product at...)

If I may ask, what are you going to major in? :D

Haha, I had a feeling that you were going to find it sooner or later. xD

(Sorry for writing such long vm's, I have the urge to write tonight... O_o)

Yeah, it seems much more sensible than German at least. The only trouble is the separate alphabets, which I could learn if I had the motivation. I just didn't realise I wanted to learn Japanese until it was kinda too late. Still want to pick it up at university though.

Oh I see. I wondered why the colour changed to black there. XP

I was thinking about taking all three at my school (French, Spanish, and Japanese) at once, but I was thinking that it'd be too hectic for my schedule D: I do know this senior/junior? at my school that is doing that - wish I'd see her around more so I can talk to her >.< Japanese is pretty easy actually. It's very similar to English when you put sentences together. :D When translated, it can either make sense by literally going left to right/ vice-versa sometimes, which is pretty cool I'd say.

    Huh? What's . . . what?
Did you highlight the area above the arrow? xD

Haha, fair enough. That's the great thing about learning languages at school. I'm doing two and I'd do Japanese if I could, but for now I'm just gonna have to settle for picking up vocabulary and very very basic sentence structure from anime and friends who do speak it. (Hence 'kore', lol)

    Blitzle for the absolute win.

Right - forgot to add that in there...whoops. Dx 'Kore' does mean 'this' actually. Don't know where I got 'here' from. O_o The slang is confusing me...haha. I can probably ask my teacher on Monday, might as well know it since I'm learning [:

Me too. Emolga doesn't really catch my eye, it's not as cute as the other electric pokemon. :I

Haha, it looks really good...cheater. :l (Just kidding xD)

Yeah, that sounds right, I guess. But can't 'kore' also mean 'this'? So she could just be talking about the pocky there (ie this is good, ne! [yeah I'm thinking cutesy factor]). . . eh, but you're right, it's in katakana . . . Heck, I dunno.

And yeah, that hamster . . . urgh. I wasn't a huge fan of Emolga, but I didn't hate it either. After seeing that one, though . . . hmm.

Also, I had to fiddle with the colours a bit, obviously, although on the whole I did very little to the image. It's almost like cheating! ;P

Hahah! It was hard to imagine Emolga as a hamster, but it totally see it now (he'd steal all of the attention from Elesa - which we both agree is not something that should be done xD). This is cool - I can translate it for you :D Ok, so it says: うまいね、コレ (Umai ne, Kore)

    So... :D

    → "うまい" means "good/delicious/tasty"
→ "ね" is just like a confirmation/emotion part (like "this is good!") OR...just to be cutesy lol
→ "コレ" (this one is a little bit sketchy for me @[email protected]) Since it's in Katakana, a different type of writing used in Japanese (used for foreign words), it's probably the name of someone, or that Emolga haha BUT, これ (Kore) means "here" - its just written in another style, called Hiragana.

Note: ここ (Koko) also means "here" but they are used in different contexts.

But in my opinion, she's probably saying: "It's good right/isn't it Kore?" (As in talking to the Emolga or someone else). She could also be using "コレ" as in "here you go" but I don't think so (doesn't feel right to me). >.<

Whew, my wall of text just ended. xD

Well, here's a copy of the original that I uploaded to my photobucket:
    Spoiler:

Woops, that's huge. I'll spoiler it.

And I know what you mean on both counts: I'm learning Spanish and German, and it's great to be able to understand random snippets you come across. And Elesa's smile is not something we want to distract from. BD

Haha, usually the language you'd find on fanart xD I'm still learning it, so I might be able to translate it. It's fun to understand a language that you're learning x3 I think it was a good choice cropping out Emolga - would've distracted people from Elesa's smiling face. :D

The original had her saying something in Japanese, but I have no idea what it says. Also there was an Emolga eating Pocky while sitting on her head, but it looked like a fat hamster so I cropped it out lol. Some people have actually criticised me for having an 'out-of-character' Elesa in my theme. o_O I like her better smiling, though.

    Oh, likewise! :D
