April 2nd, 2009 3:33 PMPhanimaMy mistake. *scratches head* I've been talking to people about a lot of manga recently, I just got everyone muddled up.
And Yukiteru will do that to you but he does get better. To be honest though, I only really stuck it out because I wanted to see how the other diaries worked. I do like Minene though, the 9th diary holder iirc.
I didn't mind Fukunaga's baldness actually, but I'm glad he decided to go full trans again. (^~^) -
April 2nd, 2009 1:34 PMKogentaI did? ::does not remember:: I should probably take a look at it then. ^-^;;
At the moment I have conflicting feelings regarding Yukiteru. Sometimes he seems to do things well; at others . . .
Sidenote: I am thankful Fukunaga started wearing his wig again in the latest Liar Game. The short hair bothered me for some reason. -
April 1st, 2009 2:22 PMPhanimaSorry, I meant To Aru Majutsu no Index. You recommended it. :D
And I'm actually reading Mirai Nikki too. I would've suggested it but the main character's personality annoyed me so much that I felt like dropping it. It wasn't until the last few chapters that I started not to hate him. (^~^); -
March 31st, 2009 10:17 PMKogentaEr, sorry. I was probably thinking of double-posting when I edited the VM.
Ironically, I think my suspicions of a plan waned around the time Hasegawa brought the money back to the North side.
I am not sure if I have heard of Index or Veritas. My latest new read is Mirai Nikki--something my sister recommended to me for tsundere content. -
March 27th, 2009 12:58 AMPhanimaYou should post a new VM. *didn't notice edit at first*
Anyway, what happened? Five new chapters just came out. (o3o) Guess they wanted to wrap up the third round, which I suppose is fair enough, since the fourth is sounding wonderfully diabolical. Although, I'll admit now and not just to brag that I had a suspicion that Akiyama had already won when Hasegawa returned with the money to the North. Just something about that page and the continuing lack of screen time the South got in the game, clinched it for me.
And yes, although not exactly shock-horror material, Uzumaki was wonderfully disturbing. I believe there's also another manga by the same author called 'Gyo'. Uses the similar concept of disturbing its readers.
Oh, and I also started on Index (3 chapters in) and it reminds me a bit of Veritas, high schoolers with scientific enhanced powers. It's interesting. -
March 24th, 2009 10:44 AMKogentaAkiyama seemed to at least suspect the North had a plan. Even if he lost, though, I doubt he would lose so easily.
EDIT: Spoiler - - - -
[Well the South won somehow. That answers my previous question(s) and leaves a new one.]

I read through Uzumaki this afternoon. It was rewardingly disturbing . . . Draws the reader in, too. ^-^;; -
March 19th, 2009 3:11 AMPhanimaI was actually wondering about that too. Akiyama might've told the bald guy just to agree with Yokoya's questioning and may have actually persuaded him to formulate another plan. Of course, now I'm just speculating.
And I practically scour the internet for good horror manga. Unfortunately, there's not a lot out there really. -
March 18th, 2009 9:40 AMKogentaHeh, I read Liar Game 51 last night. Currently I am wondering if Akiyama merely told the third man what he told the others or if he has another plan.
"Uzumaki" and "One Missed Call" do not sound familiar, but a good horror manga is always welcome--or usually welcome, anyway (it might be inappropriate at a funeral or something). -
March 18th, 2009 3:11 AMPhanimaI just finished reading chapter 51. I'm going to go ahead and spoil it, so if you don't want to know, just skip to the next paragraph. xP All through it, I had an inkling that Shibayama wouldn't confess and that the South's plan would actually work, but I should've known better than to expect the easy way out. Then again, at least it presents another opportunity for Akiyama to come back.
And I've never heard of Spiral before, although at first I was thinking it had something to do with Uzumaki (a horror manga about spirals). I'll take a quick skim over the first few chapters to check it out though. And also, "One missed call" is another short series (2 chapters). It has psychological elements but is more or less swayed towards the horror spectrum. -
March 16th, 2009 10:27 PMKogentaLiar Game 50 was interesting. Waiting for 51 now . . . ^-^;;
I might try to read at least a decent portion of Death Note during a break in school, then. Currently I am working on Spiral ~ Suiri no Kizuna. It has some mystery, but it is not quite as logical or mystery-centric as some other series. -
March 15th, 2009 1:25 PMPhanimaI pretty much ignored her back-story as well, since being a hypnotist is rather a standard fare occupation for a a lot of characters in manga nowadays.
And they've released chapter 50 of Liar Game on One Manga. As for Death Note, I don't want to sound like a raving fanboy, but if you're into psychological thrillers, you should definitely give it a read through. -
March 15th, 2009 11:07 AMKogentaHm. I can understand what you mean about the hypnotism. Thinking back, though, I should have been more suspicious since the story emphasized her history as a hypnotist.
I read to Liar Game 49 (all that was available on the site) the same day I read through Doubt. Death Note I have actually only read the first chapter of . . . -
March 15th, 2009 6:29 AMPhanimaI agree, the catchphrase was a nice touch but personally, I've always discounted hypnotism, it just feels like a cop out.
And I started reading Liar Game today and got up to the latest chapter. I couldn't stop reading, it's just really engrossing. (owo) Great find. I'd say it's almost comparable to Death Note, it just lacks a certain...quality. Maybe it's the severity of dying that gives the latter more impact. -
March 14th, 2009 9:19 PMKogentaI thought Rei was dead, too, and decided that the backstory given to her was probably told to make the reader feel bad about her demise. The trigger line revealed at the end was nice.
Though it is not as death-related, Liar Game is another interesting mind-game manga. -
March 14th, 2009 6:02 PMPhanimaI suspected everyone at one point or another, though I seriously thought Rei was dead when I first saw her. I adored the ending though.
There's not enough psychological manga out there. (=3=)
