December 2nd, 2011 3:01 PMChairman KagaMan, those responses. You know, there's a stronger anti-vet undercurrent at PC than you'd think, start going through the blogs, you'll find one in particular that's pretty shocking toward the middle of last month.
More on this subject later. -
December 2nd, 2011 2:12 AM22saThere... posted a feedback thread trying to convey my point about Member Fan Clubs.
I wonder if it's really just a few of us who could use it x_X -
December 2nd, 2011 1:16 AM22saI didn't find Angel Beats! a tearjerker at all... it's just quality anime with all nice art, moe, character, and comedy .
Attractive for a white girl probably. Do you like white girls? Any racial preference?
Speaking of which, I don't actually remember any Roman philosophers.
Can't demand serious discussion of this crowd I suppose. There has been deep works of art, fanfiction across the Pokemon forums though, and lots of deep theory on Pokemon strategies and movesets. Speaking of which, I've neglected to browse the art sections... oh well :P
I know... I see you try too hard at times, but I like how you try to contribute anywhere you can.
Oh... you recall incidents of hacking making you lose posts?
I've been normal okay. Frustrating with having to do some house clean up for family who's coming to spend December here -_- -
December 2nd, 2011 12:30 AMChairman KagaTheoretically, I intend to watch every anime at some point or another. I hear Angel Beats a tearjerker though so I don't know if I can handle it until life is a little brighter for me :p
Ahh, so you were basing your statement off of Paige, hah. No one could ever understand how I ended up with a girl that attractive. I guess it was just my animal magnetism and knightly chivalry (not).
It would seem that over the centuries, a forum became simply a place to discuss anything. Would a Pokemon forum in its truest form demand that we discuss Pokemon philosophy? If a Pineco uses Selfdestruct in Ilex Forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?
Blegh, looks like I'll be ducking into chat more out of morbid curiosity than anything else if I ever decide to go in. As if the DCC wasn't hard enough to penetrate between the sluggish activity and the high school life topics. I'm happy that these people in the springtime of their nerdy youth are having fun, it's just not for me though.
Of course, post count didn't matter in the clubs even when they did actually add to your post count. I never actually cared about that, I was just genuinely having fun, which I continued to do after they made the postcount change. Not that it matters, but between the change in member groups and losing many posts thanks to a hacking, I probably would have pretty close to 20k posts all told. I'm still brimming with conversationalism, I just have to take it elsewhere now.
How have you been these past few days? -
December 2nd, 2011 12:21 AM22saAw... well you going to watch it? :)
-
December 2nd, 2011 12:20 AM22saI was thinking another point of evidence known as you being paired with Page ... er, I forgot her proper name
Nope, no knowledge on the forum here... I just know philosophers used it for their discussions. Kind of cool methinks. :) Makes me want to treat the forum with the same... uh ... :\
No, the chatroom sucks for us old-timers. It's worse than DCC. I only suggested it if you're curious to see who goes on PC the most these days.
Exactly, I like how you understand. Not having a group conversation really limits function of this forum.
I don't care about the post count being in there or not, it was the space that mattered. Oh well, truth is I was away when it was shut down. I'm partly to blame, lol. -
December 2nd, 2011 12:18 AMChairman KagaNegative, actually :p If you were looking at my VMs, the Kanade in question is Minamino Kanade of Suite Precure fame.
-
December 2nd, 2011 12:14 AM22saOh you watched Angel Beats! ?
-
December 2nd, 2011 12:09 AMChairman KagaWhoopsie, I kind of let the conversation die again.
Well, the themeing isn't going very quickly, heh. I have my idea, but whether I actually have the skills to execute it (and whether or not I can make heads or tails of the skin-creation interface in vbulletin) is another question entirely.
Elesa.......is so like me? XD Why, the fact that I was primarily known on PC for having lascivious feelings toward a cartoon character for years shouldn't mean anything at all! :p
You know, Roman history is one of the holes in my historical knowledge. I red several war chronicles and political histories of ancient Greece (in the original language, even) but Rome eluded me. It's certainly the kind of topic I wouldn't mind doing some independent study on, I just have to shake off this burnout from the excessive reading I had to do in college. Do clue me in on the origin of the Forum if you know.
Being the slightly forgetful person that I am, I still haven't tested out the chatroom. I had kind of an "I think I'm too old for this place" moment today when I entered the DCC and recoiled at the teenagers talking about their dislike for various academic subjects in school, so I'm now lacking in chatroom confidence. Will I have anything I can actually relate to? Am I anything more than just an oddity at this point? I'm at peace with the fact that I'll never be what I once was here, but I do want to fit in in some respects.
It just makes me miss member clubs all the more. VMs are so sadly lacking in that party-like atmosphere and aren't good for getting to know people. What were clubs hurting, considering that they didn't add to your post count? (I lost thousands of posts when they made that switch XD) -
November 29th, 2011 1:40 AM22sa*Checks out pokelink* Oh.... this theme looks exactly like my profile. X_x Haha.
I always liked Midnight Misty for the nice atomsphere it gives off.
Elesa huh. *Google* Oh, that hot model gym leader. Lol, that's so like you. Yes, better be sexy Alan. :>
I don't fully understand what's right or wrong either. For someone like me the past matters absolutely because the bulk of my values are about understanding things. So basically case-by-case like you said. All in the values of each individual.
You saying that makes me remember the origin of the forum in ancient Roman philosophy activities. Did you ever get a chance to learn about the history of the original forum by the way?
Oh... I only went to the chat room because I was bored. I like the solidity of the forum better, and the graphical themes people put together to make it all look nicer, partially what attracted me to PC to begin with really. But again, chat room provided a quick random list of a portion of who the current regulars are.
At some point at my time at PC, loneliness perhaps, stopped me from starting threads. Otherwise I would really stick to the forum rather than VM. (Still bummed out about the loss of Member Fan Clubs for the same reason) -
November 29th, 2011 12:06 AMChairman KagaI'm doing okay, as usual. Nothing interesting to speak of. PC is generally very dead this time of night so I'm always glad to have you on.
I still use Pokelink, which is what I generally used when I was here. I do switch to Plusle's Play Date now and again for the nostalgia, and I would use Midnight Misty all the time except that for some reason the banner was edited to hastily have an image of Ash slapped on as well. My 14-year-old self doesn't like the eyes he's making at her.
I'm not much into the Pokemon games themselves anymore, but I do still appreciate the characters. My goal is to make a theme that's dark + neon lights that features Elesa, a gym leader from B/W. My gfx skills are middling, but after reviewing a lot of PC themes, most of the work is just deciding on your color scheme and the only heavy lifting is the banner and background. We'll see if my ambitions result in something or go down in flames.
Definitely take the time to compare Kishida's artwork to the Totori figure before making a decision. Getting a 2D face right in a 3D space is always a tricky thing and we don't have the luxury of being able to examine Japanese goods in person. Figurine makers need to get with the times and provide hi-res 360º images of products to retailer sites.
Maybe I'm just trying to sound like I know what I'm talking about with the memories thing instead of actually knowing something, heh. Having a connection to a past that no longer exists can slow down the emerging future, though whether this is a good or bad thing comes down to a case-by-case basis. Sometimes progress is liberating, sometimes it's dehumanizing. But I do think that tradition is necessary for culture to exist at all.
Hey, now that I'm back, I'm staying whether the dynamic here creates a place for me or not. Maybe those who would have been rapid-fire posters in the DCC in the past have moved to the chat. All the more reason for me to check it out. I suppose it's just that on a forum, I value the method of posting that leaves an eternal record of what was said over the transience of a chat room. Forum posting also leads to more substantial conversation, but maybe I'm being too serious for my own good. Gotta loosen your tie and let the XDs fly sometimes, eh? -
November 28th, 2011 11:48 PM22saHow are you tonight btw?
My mind isn't integrating very well for some reason ~_~
I got lazy about checking out all the styles when I saw how long the list is just now and just switched to a nostalgic Plusle's play day.
You have interest in graphic design? It's the most common ambition of PC members by far. XD I'm surprised you got an idea, go for it!
Kishida Mel huh. 3D translation is horrible from my experience. -_- I'll still have to think a lot on the matter. I want to buy Totooria, but would hate to regret it.
Nope, just a lot of Project Diva because I made a gigantic Project Diva channel.
Again, good luck with the job hunt.
Exactly! Memories, the past, are proof of who we are! Impedes progress? I wouldn't know that one.... I've NEVER been found of sacrifice, so I will probably never understand haha.
Yes but we're bums here right? Eventually we'll have to be more useful to society and leave, lol. -
November 28th, 2011 10:59 PM22saYes, check out the chat - it might give you an idea of who the regulars of modern day PC are. :)
Brb~ shower before I keep sitting my dirty arse in my room -
November 28th, 2011 10:32 PMChairman KagaJust saw your most recent message. I've actually never been! Maybe I should fix this. It would certainly be good for my as-of-yet failed reintegration into PC.
-
November 28th, 2011 10:31 PMChairman KagaAh, sorry for not getting back to you right away, I was actually absorbed reading the site styling section (it's hidden to non-supporters) as I'm planning to make a style and I neglected to check my VMs.
About figurines, I'd buy more if I had more money. Virtually all that I own are from One Piece, as I had a very intense period of fandom with the show throughout 2009 and 2010 now have several shelves of UFO prize figurines and candy toys from the series. My fandom has somewhat waned since then so I sometimes consider unloading my collection for what would be a considerable amount of money.
I've seen the Totori figurine and she is indeed rather pretty. I'm fond of Kishida Mel's character designs, though I can't guarantee how well it will translate to 3D. I'm assuming you own lots of Vocaloid stuff, heh.
Back to the serious, I suppose. My only interest in having more income has to do with the greater amount of personal freedom that comes with it, though I would also like to be able to sustain my hobbies within reason as well. More college is fairly out of the question right now, and there's not much you can dump history credits into anyway to fast-track yourself to something else. It was my passion as a teenager and young adult, but there's no dancing around the fact that I'm royally screwed.
You know, about nostalgia being a weakness, it's the kind of thing that may impede progress but the cost of never yearning for the past outweighs the benefits. With nothing to cherish or remind us of who we used to be, we're cold. It's cutting off a part of your own humanity.
Kylie, Kylie...I briefly spoke with her after my return, though either we don't post in the same forums or she has the same habit that I do of barely appearing on PC. How I wish more vets would come back and stay. I desperately miss the DCCs that could accumulate as many posts in a couple of days as they do in a month now.
