January 18th, 2009 9:30 AMicomeanon6To be honest, I've been a little slow on reading as of late seeing as how busy school's kept me. In school we're reading Robinson Crusoe...an unabridged Robinson Crusoe, which apparently means preserving its idiotic format and unregulated spelling and grammar. While reading it, I couldn't help but wonder how it would be received if it were posted here. I think we'd tear it apart, seeing as it has abysmal spelling and no chapters or other such divisions whatsoever. The whole story's one giant stream of consciousness, which makes it quite arduous to read.
As for that guy (or girl?) who posted that "story," I think someone needs to explain to him how the ego is supposed to work.
Writing good stuff --> larger ego. (Not the other way around!)
EDIT:
One more thing, because it bothers me that no one else here seems to have heard of this. Have you ever heard of a DOS game made by LucasArts in 1990 called "The Secret of Monkey Island?" There are two kinds of people: those who think that it's the best game ever, and those who haven't heard of it. -
January 18th, 2009 12:48 AMAstinusHIIIIIIIIIIIIIII MAGIC LEGUME!!! :'D I've gone insane.
I'm slacking off from writing my fanfic to start a loverly conversation with you. So like...sorry about that guy...who wasn't listening to you. You were awesome, though, and better than me, because you can form a complete thought without scaring people.
Um. Um. Read any good books lately? I'm gonna be asking for recommendations soon, since I'm going through my to-be-read pile. I just finished The Great Gatsby and am now starting to read Sister Carrie.
And yeah. Still lazy. XD Lazy lazy lazy. And forgetful. People need to harp on me to do things, instead of expecting me to remember.
zomg! Ramble. So...hi and stuff. -
January 1st, 2009 9:28 PMicomeanon6No need to thank me, it's all part of the job. *puts on cape and flies away.*
Seriously though, that thread couldn't have lead to anything good, thanks much for closing it. -
January 1st, 2009 8:05 PMAstinusI hate to sound condescending, but I don't think the majority of this little writer's community is critical enough to vote intelligently on this sort of a contest.
This made me snort in laughter. =D Thanks for the laugh. -
December 17th, 2008 5:28 PMicomeanon6Don't worry about it, I've been really busy too. And now, I need to finish typing this up before someone comes barging in and finds me on a Pokemon forum. (My house gets crowded around Christmas, which makes posting next to impossible.)

December 16th, 2008 12:23 AMAstinus... :<
I'm working on a response to your PM. I read it, but I need to do research on what you were talking about, because I is the epitome of suck. And I'm lazy. But I just got a new game, and hours are increasing where I work, and...! Now I'm just making excuses.
But I'm not ignoring you. I am just lazy. -
November 30th, 2008 8:33 PMicomeanon6Ho, Asty!
Now that you're back, there's something I've been wondering. Why don't you just lock or remove the revision bin? As it is now, it just gets some n00by authors to post their fics where no one will read them.
...
On second thought, let's keep it. xD -
November 10th, 2008 11:55 PMAstinusShame about Michael Crichton, neh? I cried that night after my mother told me. I picked up Next, which I wanted to read anyhow, but now I really want to read it.
He'll be missed. -
November 4th, 2008 7:26 PMicomeanon6You'll be back, you just love us too much. ;)

September 12th, 2008 11:44 PMAstinusIt also scares people away when they look at your profile. They see my user name and how much I ramble to you, and then back away very very slowly. *high fives*
Where I am isn't all that dark either. I live in the 'burbs, where the neighbors leave spotlights on until two in the morning. That's why I stay up so late. I don't have all that much interest in the scientific aspects of the sky, stars, and planets. (I know some information, but not a lot. XD) But I will always enjoy just standing in the middle of a dark backyard at three in the morning, when there's only one street light, looking up, and just seeing stars. Not a lot, but enough.
It's better in winter, when there's more brighter stars. Winter's also the season of my favorite constellations and meteor showers. The Gemini meteor shower gave me a few good fireballs. Same with the random night when I was outside, facing south, and the northern sky was lit up with a fireball. It was so bright like a nuclear blast. XD That was in fall, though. And I'll shut up before rambling on about how I remember it was fall. *hides astronomical charts*
The last place that I went to where there wasn't any lights was Cape Cod. Of course, I was younger then, and wound up spending that weekend dead in bed from swimming in the ocean. So I don't really remember the skies there.
Unfortunately, where I'm moving to in a few years is much larger than the town I'm in now by at least 150,000 people. But the state it's in is also much larger than the one I'm in now, so maybe I can find someplace to head to when I want to see the stars.
We can only hope that something will change to see the stars. I hope so, but like you, I'm probably going to be very disappointed. -
September 12th, 2008 1:45 PMicomeanon6Verbosity isn't a problem, it makes my profile page look more productive! *gives thumbs up*
Seeing as I live in Suburb-ville, USA, I don't get to see that many bright stars. That's why I'm so glad I went on that trip last summer, it was so clear you could actually see shooting stars with reasonable frequency, not to mention the Milky Way, which is quite a spectacular sight. I really wish people didn't feel the need to leave street lights on all night, it just drowns out the stars. Maybe someday when our oil usage is down significantly the air will get clean enough to see the stars even around cities. (Great, I just used wishful thinking, now I'm set up for disappointment. *headdesk*) -
September 11th, 2008 8:04 PMAstinusAw, but nighttime is my favorite time. There's no other time that I enjoy being awake, around, and happy in. I mean, when else can you step outside into a pitch-black yard, look up, and see the stars twinkling as they had before you were born, and will continue to do long after you've been snuffed out. Plus, it's just genuinely creepy being out there, hearing no noises except for nature, and wondering if you're going to get attacked or not. XD
You're welcome. It was the least I could do. I mean, they're spamming up your thread with reviews that don't help you out/that break the rules, so I had to step in at some point. And I've seen it happen on other forums where a fic is closed due to spammers, punishing the author but not those who spammed. I didn't want that to happen to you and your story. ><
And it's pretty much true facts that the stories you don't want that much attention given to will be given attention, and those you want reviews for just remain quiet. It's a shame really, when that happens. But hey, that's the way things go. (Plus, there's the fact that Gary-Stu's Adventure or what the title is idontreallyknowsorry is a parody fic, meaning that it's probably easier to review for the common folk than your whateveryourotherficistitleddontknowthatoneeither story, which is a more serious attempt. You're not the first to have this happen to them. It happened to me as well, with my three FFC fics. [Though one was only posted on my LiveJournal, and the other two were cross-posted. But even then, my more serious fic only got one review, and I wanted reviews for that one. >< But it contains spoilers for one of my later fics, and I didn't want to really post it so early.] So don't feel too bad about it. It's happened before to other people, and it'll happen again to other people.)
I'm exceptionally verbose these days. Sorry. XD -
September 11th, 2008 4:00 AMicomeanon6My internal clock is set to a hypothetical time zone that doesn't have any nighttime.
BTW, thanks for clearing the spammers away from my fic. I just wish my regular one got that much attention. >_< -
September 11th, 2008 2:29 AMAstinusWhy are you stalking me this early in the morning? :<
-
September 8th, 2008 12:16 PMAstinusOf course I had to make mention of my Magic Legume! ^^
Thanks for the "HOLY CRUD!" re-mod message, by the way.
