May 24th, 2018 8:57 AMCodeHelmetIt wasn't cheap but conveniently appeared out of thin-air that it made it cheap and WTF worthy. TR was given Mimikyu-Z by Acerola, hence them having it makes sense. Who GAVE Ash Pikashunium-Z? AFAIK absolutely freaking no one.
Btw, I haven't seen 76 yet but I'll get around to it sometime soon. The events of 75 all but point to a win against Nanu next week in 77 and 78 appears to be a clash of UB's(perhaps involving Poipole). No idea what 79 onward is yet since they haven't been announced(but should be in the next week). May know if Serena is coming back next month. -
May 24th, 2018 7:42 AMHikamaruAlso, the dreaded Pikashunium Z made a comeback. The stupid plot device that PRB12 said was the reason Ash pulled off such a cheap and undeserved win over Lusamine.

May 24th, 2018 7:37 AMHikamaruAs I said in the thread, I feel having Pikachu go from a move of varied base power to a measly 55 base power is a silly excuse by the writers to downgrade his power without resetting him completely.

May 24th, 2018 6:42 AMCodeHelmetElectroball replacing Volt Tackle wasn't necessarily bad due to Volt Tackle's recoil. I've never been a fan of recoil moves and I often avoid them in-game even when they have significantly more power(like Submission and Double Edge for Generation 1 as an example). As for Electroweb, yeah I have to agree with you on this. The average power of Electroball was typically 80 due to how fast Pikachu is over the bulk of opponents(very rarely is it 60 or the base 40). To go from that to a base power of 55 doesn't make sense unless you figure its a "Defensive" move. Granted if you go with the Defensive argument, he'd been better off giving it Light Screen or Charge(wherein it makes Pikachu Special Defense stronger while boosting the next Offensive move). Heck Charge Beam would had made more sense(makes Electric moves stronger the more times its used). Heck Electric Terrain would had made more sense than Electroweb.

May 24th, 2018 2:46 AMHikamaruLooks like Pikachu has learned a new move for the first time since BW...
Spoiler:
... and it's Electroweb! Guessing he's now forgotten Electro Ball for it, meaning the new moveset is Thunderbolt, Quick Attack, Iron Tail and Electroweb.
My big complaint is Electroweb is a pretty weak move, being only 55 power as opposed to Electro Ball being varied based on opponent's Speed stat vs the user. Also, it's a move that makes absolutely no sense for Pikachu, especially when you consider this used to be the signature move of the Joltik line until Move Tutors ruined it and made it accessed by pretty much every Electric and Bug-type. Another bad point towards SM, with Pikachu learning a new move that is significantly weaker than the one it replaced, much like when Electro Ball replaced Volt Tackle in BW020. -
May 22nd, 2018 6:50 AMHikamaruI just know the writers will want to slap at all the fans who wanted Rowlet to evolve.
-
May 22nd, 2018 5:56 AMCodeHelmetLOL an Everetone on Rowlet? Why not an Everstone on Ash for being forever 10? That to me still rubs me the wrong way as having him age would actually do more for the Franchise by enabling more mature content/themes without having to censor it. Either that or they think kids can’t handle things like Death or other serious topics(they can, they just require parental guidance).
-
May 21st, 2018 9:44 PMHikamaruMaybe the writers should just slap an Everstone on Rowlet to slap fans in the face even more, like when Dawn gave one to Piplup.
-
May 21st, 2018 9:43 PMHikamaruI agree on Rowlet. The fact he learned a new move despite being lazy and doing absolutely nothing he made me want to hate Rowlet even more. First being pretty much confirmed as the new Piplup/Oshawott clone by being prevented from evolution due to merchandise, and now learning a move without putting any effort.
For being Ash's first bird with a personality, it's definitely a lame one. Also, mastering a Z-Move within the span of one episode is nothing but one word... RUSHED. -
May 21st, 2018 7:07 PMCodeHelmetSeen PRB12’s review of 75? I wasn’t as enthralled as he was with it. Brought back memories of Episode 38 when Mimikyu and Jessie got separated and Ash and Lycanroc were trying to master their new Z-Move. In a span of one Episode(less than that actually), they Master it. Got same vibe with Lycanroc’s Anger issues. Furthermore... how the heck does Rowlett learn a new move by basically being its lazy ass self. If they’re trying to teach kids that hard work leads to success, that Rowlett scene flies in the face of that.

May 17th, 2018 8:48 AMCodeHelmetHaven't watched the latest Episode(sounds to be fillerish/training episode) but its worth noting that the time for Serena's return should be coming sometime soon. May returned around this time in Diamond&Pearl while Dawn didn't appear until Episode 85 or so in Black&White. Misty returned around Episode 44, which is not far off from when she reappeared in Sun&Moon(granted that was for 20th Anniversary fanservice). With May's VA now a professional singer, she likely won't be making a return to the show and the odds of Dawn returning are minimal. Iris' popularity is complete crap despite the fact they did her a disservice. That leaves Serena for the next cameo and I expect it to happen in the next 5-10 Episodes, if it happens at all. Today's Episode(#75) is tailored to training, 76 is the long awaited battle between TR and Ash(Mimikyu and Pikachu specifically) and 77 is the rematch between Nanu and Ash. 78 looks to be a clash between Ultra Beasts(perhaps Poipole's first battle with Ash?) so that means if Serena is to return, its going to be Episode 80 onward.

May 16th, 2018 6:04 AMCodeHelmetThe biggest reason I hate SM is that it’s nothing like the games. For all the grief I give Black&White, at least it tried to stick to the games. In Sun and Moon, Kiawe, Mallow, Lana and Sophocles are not Trial Captains wherein they would challenge Ash prior to him challenging the Kahuna for the Grand Trial. As a reward for completing said Trials, they’d reward Ash with Z-Crystals and/or the honor of battling them. Outside of Kiawe(and to a lesser degree Lana), none of them even battle and without them being Trial Captains, their purpose in the series is pretty much removed. When Ash got the Electrium-Z, Sophocles role was removed. Ash got Grassium-Z on Akala so Mallow is a pointless character. Ash hasn’t gotten the Fire one but that’s because Kiawe has it(same with Lana and Water). In other words, Lillie is the only character with a purpose and even her role is not that well defined. Her fear arc lasted far too long and since it ended, what’s her goal/objective within the series? Alola Guardian? If so, this isn’t Voltron/Power Rangers....
I mean in XY, Clemont’s role was as an obstacle for Ash and was on the journey to gain more self-confidence. Bonnie was there for comedy relief and Serena’s role wasn’t fleshed out until 38 Episodes in(took far too long). Even then, she had a crush on Ash so she at least had a reason to be there. What darn reason do the SM cast have other than going to a school that has been proven multiple times not to be necessary in the Pokemon universe(at least for Ash). -
May 15th, 2018 5:11 PMHikamaruIt's terrible how lame SM's writing has been. First, changing the format due to Yo-Kai Watch being a massive hit during XY's run, to badly handling the main cast, and now portraying Z-Moves as OP and only as a stupid anticlimactic end battle nuke.

May 15th, 2018 7:04 AMCodeHelmetIn a single word: Yes. It’s not as if they haven’t done this before though. Ash’s results in the League Tournaments(particularly Tobias and especially Cameron. Against Alain, it was a coin-flip but it was dangled out there that he was finally going to win but then crashes and burns at the last moment) and Female Protagonist results in Grand Festivals(Granted a case can be made that neither May or Dawn deserved it(especially Dawn due to how much Zoey helped her. However the build-up and belief by the fan base that she would win was exceptionally strong)) were deliberately done as plot devices(particularly to keep the Anime going).
-
May 15th, 2018 6:30 AMHikamaruBut anyway, do you agree with PRB12's video that Z-Moves made battles too predictable, ruined any form of creativity and in the case of the infamous Pikanium Z, used as a stupid plot device to try and end a badly-written plot.
