I thought the writing was fine. It's a YA book after all. It was the plot and the whole setup to the end that made me hope for some big twist that never actually happened. Of course I didn't know it was part of a series when I read it so I thought the book could end a lot of ways.

yeah, I felt like the writing in the first one was really rushed and predictable. like sometimes, a day would be a paragraph lol. This is the first time in..ever..that I think the movie will be better than the book. :X

I've only read the first book in the Hunger Games and I thought it was... okay. Like, not super great, but okay. Eventually I'll get to the others.

Didn't want to necro a thread, but my favorite dystopian novels are The Running Man and The Time Machine. I definitely recommend reading them if you haven't. The Sprawl trilogy by William Gibson is also good. Iron Heel is one of my favorites, too, but it's less focused on futuristic science fictiony stuffs- I don't know what you like, but I figured I'd mention it. Also! I just got done reading the Hunger Games trilogy since I kept hearing about it. What did you think about it?
