Yeah I think you're right about that.

I can't seem to be able to do it again. If I send you a copy of my game so far can you insert the map for me? I could pay you with deviant art points or buy something from you on ebay. (I don't have a paypal account)

    My map is here: http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/010/4/e/pokemon_star_version_map_by_missdigitalis-d4l4z2m.png

What's the 4 digit code for that color?

    Ok thanks!

Do you know how to get the map borders back though?

Ok ok I FINALLY got it lol.

But the only thing is that the pallet is messed up. How do I fix that?

(thanks for helping me so far, I would never have been able to figure that out by myself.)

Er... I'm supposed to change all those to the offset of the map right?

It turned all pink and glitchy when I tried to do that.

Oh wait, I see what I was doing now. I was doing the offset for the map wrong.
    It was 003EF61C so that's 1CF63E08.... I think.

    Oh I see now.

    So then

But whenever I go back and replace all those with the pointer of my offset I still get a blank map. ???

Ok. I see how you reverse it but I don't understand why you put a 08 at the beginning.

I'm sorry I'm still not understanding it.

Maybe you could just tell me what the others are supposed to be?

I really hate to be a bother.

For your first question, ignore the first two zeroes. The pointer would be 50 15 38 08. For the second question, offsets are backwards in the hex. As i said before, ($ABCDEF becomes EF CD AB 08), so 3F089C would be 9C 08 3F 08

    Also, I don't understand how you got 9C 08 3F 08 from $3F089C

ok so $ABCDEF becomes EF CD AB 08. So what would 003F1550 mean? 00381550?

I'm sorry I'm just really new to this.

Assuming you have a hex editor: Open up your Rom in it. If you consult the pointers in the spoiler on that tutorial (Assuming you have Firered BPRE and are editing the map of Kanto), you need the pointer $3F089C. Take the offset of your tilemap, and turn it into a pointer ($ABCDEF becomes EF CD AB 08). Using the hex editor, search for "9C 08 3F 08". Whenever you find that, replace it with the pointer of your tilemap.

    In the map thread (http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=164425)
I don't understand what it means by changing the pointers in hex editor. Could you explain that to me?
