xD I am English, my good fellow. That's the only language I'm even remotely fluent in. Which part didn't you understand - the pic ideas or the CSS stuff? I'll try and rephrase whichever it was better for you. :)

ok im glad to hear you liked the pic, but can you please sayt he second part in english? as I've said I'm goign for authoring in the english language. its my only language. anyway yes something like what you had in your post would be nic,e but maybe something slightly different so the two dont seem too alike.

It will be worth it, promise! :D If only so you can step back at the end and think, 'wow, I did all that.' Keep going, dude!

The pic looks great - although I agree, some text might be useful to give the judges a more detailed idea of what's going on. (Moves, dodges and suchlike.) I'd love to help (maybe make you an animated titlescreen or something), so lemme know if that's something you'd like.

And CSS? It's basically a way of sexying up your posts, lol. Making them look pretty.

    Like this.

A lot of Dystopia's graphics were put together separately without much code involvement (which is what CSS is, essentially, just code), but the layout itself (e.g. table cells) is pure coding. I taught myself the basic principles for the purposes of the contest, lol (having originally created a design in Dreamweaver that was HTML and so incompatible with the forum) - so it's not too difficult. And a valuable skill, so if you want to learn to do it all yourself, that's obviously fine! But if not, I'd be happy to do a quick layout for you. :)

I also just remembered I have a question. whats CSS? Either way the two biggest helps would be with pictures and formating. so I might ask you for some help with that sooner or later, but I think I did well for my first try at an entire scene. though I might add text or something.

barrels I've been working since 1 o'clock, and I still have tons to do for decolonized. I'd never have guessed it'd take this long. I've only gotten one pic done too. I got the rest of those, the plot, and lots of little details. I hope its all worth it.

trust me I appreciate the feed back. I also did misunderstand one of your vms. I thought you said that someone had said pokemon in the game im designing never ate, rather then you saying that I noticed pokemon never eat in the franchise games.

I hope to get to work on sprites soon, so wish me luck.

Oh, I did see it was a WIP! :) Just giving my one-and-a-half cents in case it was useful.

I like it, sir! I like it very much! Especially the flipping of the Trainer role so that they're now protectors rather than the battle-at-the-drop-of-a-hatters they were before. :)

Also, YAY SOMEONE ELSE HAS NOTICED THAT APPARENTLY POKÉMON NEVER EAT. xD the food and water mechanic sounds very interesting! The whole thing feels like a delicious hybrid of the best bits of the main-series games, PMD and Ranger plus a healthy dash of originality. If I may make a single suggestion - are you going to have an antagonist? It's the only thing I felt might add more suspense to the storyline... although there are games without enemies that work just as well, lol.

Nah, I shouldn't think there's a limit - the more in-depth the entry, the better, right? And yeah, it's tough trying to use other people's pictures to describe your own thoughts - that's why I set meself the challenge of making my own, lol. But I'm sure you'll come up with a solution! :)

How would you do sprites? Uh... not sure I know what you're asking! YES I'M STUPID SORRY D: If your game was 3D, it wouldn't have sprites - they're 2D-specific things. You could always try using some of the Pokédex 3D screenshots, if that's what you're after - they're generally thought to be GF testing out models for the eventual 3DS Pokémon games.

If it's more a written description, PMD sort of is regular Pokémon wild encounters, just in an overworld mode rather than a separate battle one. So maybe the Stadium/Battle Revolution style battles are better suited to what you're after. :S I have a feeling that wasn't particularly helpful, so lemme know if I completely misinterpreted. If only so I can headdesk. ;)

One thing I thought of when I spotted your second entry though it has nothing to do with it. Do't judge my mind just works that way:

how would I do sprites if I want to make a 3d (as in not top down) game? I guess I could do a ds game and it'd work jsut as well, but I had considered a full on all out battle system. I suppose I could do somehting like the half way between normal pokemon wild encounters and PMD's turn by turn top down grid fights. idk. I'm heaidng home form school now so I'll catch ya later (lol pokemon jokes ftw).

thanks. yeah I spent my childhood dreaming of being a pokemon game designer so I've had ideas floating around. My new one is based on an RP I wrote called Decolonized. I'm trying to become an author now, so by drawing from that I've got a lot going for me. I hope there isn't a limit on the submissions though. I had to break single player into two parts (synopsis and mechanics). the Other has been turned into specifications and other notes on parts of the game like the actual plot line, game appearence, and lots of examples.

Only problem I'm having besides length is getting some pictures together and having some images to go with it. Its hard trying to use someone elses pictures to describe one of your own original concepts.

Thanks very much, man! It means a lot that you liked my idea - I remember liking yours! (I'm a massive PMD fan, lol.) Also, how could I take any of your message the wrong way? ;D it's the biggest compliment you could give me.

Also, nope, didn't think of it beforehand - I saw the contest annoucement at the same time as everybody else. I just happened to have a *lot* of spare time on my hands, haha. I think I spent one day writing the overview/single-player/multiplayer stuff and the next faking all the screenshots and the next doing the post styling. :)

And yeah, go all out, dude! The more great spinoff ideas in the thread, the better. If you need a hand with CSS or anything, feel free to hit me up (it took me a day-and-a-half to figure out how to get it styled properly, xD. My 'Preview Post' button was worn out by the end). I'm definitely looking forward to see what you come up with! Rest assured it'll be better than this. xD but that's awful on purpose.

I just saw pokemon dystopia version and I have to ask did you think of that before the contest started? it seems so organized and planned out I could have sworn it was a mod hack or something. don't take this the wrong way, but dude you just made this competition a hell of a lot harder. I thought I had a great one when I submitted a PMD3 then I read the rules again, and well since I'm starting from scratch and I've seen the competition, again don't take this the wrong way, I'm going all out to match or exceed your concept.

    let the games begin.

P.S. good luck. Though I doubt you'll need it. I'm sure gonna a hell of lot of it though.
