That'll be nice to do @@; need to see how can I get into post-secondary teaching or something XD I'm getting part-time right now (same part time I got since high school actually XD) and I like teaching a lot more there instead of public school classrooms! Too bad they got no full time.

I just find a lot of classic geek movies to be rather boring... I fell asleep in even the original Star Wars when it's supposed to be lot better than the new ones already x_x; Star Trek is even longer and even worse XD

Well, that's still terrifying. xD; I will refrain from going into teaching if only to avoid the scary applied students.

I haven't seen any Star Trek except that reboot movie. XD; I always feel like a bad geek when it comes up.

Maybe it's cause I only got the "middle" level class last time too. What scares me is like "holy crap? and THIS is only the middle level math class and there's 2 *WORSE* classes than this within the applied stream of math?" I wouldn't be that scared if I've seen the worse ones already. Maybe the pit of the pit, the males will act out more than females XD

No don't say that. Just so happens starcraft is slightly more mainstream in impressing kids than "hey look your teacher played KH2 yet too lazy to beat Sephiroth there!" And if starcraft doesn't make anyone a gamer unless it's been played, that's like saying I'm auto-disqualified from being a geek cause I never watched 1 full season of Star Trek.

    I only got the referral this year. I've been trying other options to deal with it over the years, some working better than others but none working as well as I'd like. u_u;;

I would have thought the males would be harder to deal with too. :P They always seem like the more rambunctious ones.

(I have... never played a game of Starcraft in my life. I feel like this makes me a bad gamer, haha.)

Erm aren't you like, well past 16 and past even '-teens' now in age? still waiting for referral? >_<; I know our health care is slow but not this slow =(

It's around 1:9 in ratio in reality, as only 10% get into college/university and most of the time that's the not-applied students who get in so heh... on average that's how it works. I did have an opportunity to give a full day inschool suspension once and it was more scary for me giving it out than it was for her to receive it XD

Maybe it's a gender thing... i used to think male students will be so much worse but class I have, it's the girls I can't deal with. The guys listen to me bit better.

I also got a student to worship me as a Godddddd because I play starcraft 2 as a teacher XDD

D: That's a bit strange. Maybe it's the area? I guess I live out in suburbia so for the most part, there were always more academic classes than applied. I always felt so bad for the teachers who got stuck with the applied classes though because even in my area they were pretty bad. ;~; Not that I want to scare you or anything, haha.

It's a chronic condition I've had since age 16 or so. :[ I'm waiting for my referral to a pain clinic to go through and after that I should be back on track. But in the interim I'm on a lot of different medications and I decided it was better to take some time off rather than fail more terms in university because of surprise side effects :P

I wouldn't be lying if I said some of what I'm playing is just clearing out my backlog from years gone by. xD; But there are some good games out lately that aren't just rehashes! Not tons, but they exist!

it's similar enough. sadly there's wayyy more "applied" classes than I thought before I start teaching. It's really far from a 50-50 split in reality =< sooo all the high schoolers and university students we meet up in PC and whatnot online world is like, 10% cream of the crop apparently. No wonder why online world feels so much more sophisticated than "real people"!

Health reasons? DDDD: Hope nothing major happened and you get to rest a lot. Video games lately? what? you mean... there's actually playable stuff recently that's not reaps of repeats of older games? LIESSSS!

I didn't really know how it worked but I guess that's why my cousin who teaches lives up in the middle-of-nowhere Saskatchewan, haha. :[ Hopefully you can catch a break and teach more honours-type classes? I'm not sure how the school system works outside of Ontario anymore but I know here at least there were two streams--"applied" (for people who suck at school and don't care) and "academic" (for the ones who cared). It was always the applied kids I refused to tutor. :[

No significant other yet, unfortunately. XD; Taking a break for health reasons, mostly. All I've been doing since then is playing video games and watching TV, pretty much. Not an exciting life but it's a nice break from "oh god assignments" or "aww man gotta wake up early for work".

wish I can choose but the board sends me to whatever school and I either accept their initial offer or never get called again ughhh. Same boat as your feeling tbh but I got patience if they don't get it, but I hate it when they obviously don't want to be there and they are out to disrupt (don't mind if they sleep.) Really really wish i can pick schools.

So what are you doing lately if you took a bit of break? doing part time type of stuff or did you travel around (with any significant other? =P)

aaaah. D: Don't work in a rough area; that sounds terrifying, haha.

Sometimes I think I'd like to be a teacher too, since I do love learning material and I can be a pretty good tutor when I have to be but... ugh, I cannot stand kids. XD; I know I'd get fed up and lose my passion if I tried to go down that route so I haven't.

ty ty! Pretty confident in teaching the materials, but really I don't know if I want to teach in *classrooms* as I like the material more than the kids, and I don't do well babysitting compare to teaching. I was that close to a mental breakdown when my 2nd student teaching was in a rough neighborhood and so hard to get the kids to listen for anything Q_Q and a kid tried to set my desk on fire (but he was too dumb to succeed: your puny lighter won't light a metal desk lag on fire, kid)

    Wow, congrats! Yay math! :D

I'm taking a break from school right now but I totally hear ya on the unemployment thing. xD; But the world always needs good math teachers (lord knows I had enough bad ones in high school D:) so I'm sure you'll break into the scene pretty quick. :D

An official high school math teacher now! So I didn't exactly change my career path from what I said back when I was 15-16 XD Just graduated and having my ceremony in June. ATM in Hong Kong for holiday as end of university life (and into the world of unemployment).

Maybe you were? Honestly, I don't remember when things happened in PC very well. After so many years, they all just jumble together. Maybe you had left by then. @[email protected] Oh well!

Haven't seen you here in ages. How've you been?

that early? hmmm perhaps I was gone already cause I think I started playing Ragnarok Online by then already, so no ;p Still nice to see you still around XD I never got a forum that I can actually bother with making 10+ posts a day like PC anymore elsewhere =P so kinda miss forum life I suppose (and some of the people around too~!)
