April 7th, 2012 10:17 AMEsperYes, it was. And you should go even if there is no English!
-
April 7th, 2012 3:23 AMMr Cat DogWas it you that suggested I go to Mister Donut? Because there's one right next to my hotel and it looks tempting, but nothing seems to be in English!
-
March 13th, 2012 1:36 PMMr Cat DogAhhhhh! Well, I'm going to the Ghibli Museum (booked my tickets and everything) so it looks like I'll be doing all of your Tokyo suggestions. Yay! :D
-
March 13th, 2012 1:33 PMEsperInokashira is kind of on the edge of Tokyo so it would take some getting to. It's a park in the city of Mitaka and in the middle of the park is the Studio Ghibli Museum.

March 13th, 2012 1:17 PMMr Cat DogErm... Kabukicho was cheap, and I imagine it'll be 'interesting' if nothing else! That was pretty much is. And Inokashira is also unfamiliar; what sort of stuff is there?
-
March 13th, 2012 1:13 PMEsperArgh. Inokashira. I always spell that one wrong. Dx
-
March 13th, 2012 1:12 PMEsperWait. Inogashira isn't on the Yamanote line. Oops. Got my geography messed up there.
And woooah, Kabukicho. Is there some reason in particular you picked that area hint hint. Be careful you don't run into any Yakuza there. -
March 13th, 2012 12:55 PMMr Cat DogRe: Tokyo, I'm probably going to do most of those. (My Tokyo hotel is in Kabukicho and my ryokan is in Asakusa.) Inogashira is the only unfamiliar name from that list. But thanks for the other suggestions. :D

March 13th, 2012 12:38 PMEsperOkay, so you're already going to a festival. That's good. You can see some dancing, take pictures, eat takoyaki. I've only been to, like, two parts of Osaka: the castle, and the shopping area, Namba.
In Tokyo I could suggest you go around the Yamanote train line to all the different 'areas' like Shinjuku, Harajuku, Akihabara, Ikebukuro, Inogashira, etc. etc. but I don't really know what you want to do with your time there so I don't know if you would really care to see all the gothic lolitas in Harajuku or the maid cafes in Akihabara.
Kyoto has temples galore. If you want to see a famous area there is one called Gion, slightly out of the way from the city center, which has some temples and old things. Sometimes you can see maiko (geisha in training) rushing around looking annoyed that people are taking pictures of them. Kyoto has some very famous temples, Ginkakuji and Kinkakuji, but I haven't been to see those so I can't say much on them. -
March 13th, 2012 7:13 AMEsperConsider me held.
-
March 13th, 2012 7:03 AMMr Cat DogI'll hold you to that! :P
-
March 13th, 2012 7:00 AMEsperDarn you. You preempted my Japan survival guide blog post with this question. Dx
Give me a little bit and I'll get back to you. -
March 12th, 2012 3:09 PMMr Cat DogOK. I'll be off to Japan soon, and I need stuff to do. (Turns out that I'm staying in a capsule hotel, a ryokan, a hostel and a regular hotel during my time... yay?) Suggestions of things to do in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka? I'll also be going to the Takayama Festival, but that's about it, I think.
-
January 28th, 2012 10:45 AMEsperIf you listen to it again you might be surprised to find it gets stuck in your brain.
-
January 27th, 2012 2:34 PMMr Cat DogI've read about that, but I'm not sure of what direction it would alter my opinion of the character. I think the general shock of him rapping was enough to sour me on him, to be honest. For me, anything with '80s Robot was a highlight: especially the modem noise and New Coke!
