September 5th, 2011 9:06 AMMr Cat DogParentheses are sometimes used in that context, but most people I know seem to refer to them as brackets.
() - Brackets. [] - Square brackets. {} - Curly brackets. -
September 5th, 2011 9:05 AMOryxWhoa really? I thought parentheses was a global word. I had no idea!
I think I'd call those square brackets too, if only to specify between those and curly brackets, { }. -
September 5th, 2011 9:03 AMMr Cat DogApparently the UK and US differ on this point. Parentheses are called brackets in the UK but parentheses in the US (duh!). Brackets in the US are called square brackets in the UK. I'd never refer to [] as brackets... glad Wikipedia gives me validation in my grammar skills!

September 5th, 2011 9:01 AMOryxBrackets are like...[ ]. Those are parentheses. :(
-
September 5th, 2011 8:59 AMMr Cat DogPeople actually put brackets in to signify this? I just assumed that was their mathematical function.

September 5th, 2011 8:55 AMOryxBut the way it's written, cartoon is automatically included because there's a space between it and the slash. >:[
"children's/non-anime cartoon character" vs. "children's/cartoon(non-anime) character" :< -

July 31st, 2011 4:09 AMOryx:33 Tbh, my sister picked Avenue Q for us to go see on Broadway and my mom didn't even realize that it might not be a great idea until she realized that there was no one in line that looked even remotely 14, like I was at the time xDDD Great musical though!

July 31st, 2011 3:59 AMMr Cat Dog3 times. Maybe 4, actually. I took my parents to see it in its penultimate performance in London, and my mum loved it. (My dad didn't, but no one was expecting him to!) Book of Mormon is by half of the Avenue Q creative team (as well as the South Park guys) and I can't WAIT to see that.

-
May 16th, 2011 2:56 PMMr Cat DogAlso, the way you're dealing with people in this thread is another example of you being a good noodle! I should upgrade your emblem to 'Good Ramen' or something!
-
May 16th, 2011 12:34 AMMr Cat DogIt's for exactly what it says it is: you're a good noodle! :)

May 15th, 2011 5:38 PMOryxNot sure what the emblem was for, but that made me smile. (:
