All of them have left now, so I guess they just wanted a replacement trio! :D

H-Staff seems to like mass Super Mod promotions, don't they? I remember back in '09 when Drew, Hiiro, and Patchisou Yutohru all got promoted on the same day. I guess they needed a new set of three, huh?

You're right in that I don't remember the VM, but the awesome power of 'View Conversation History' has filled me all in, And thanks for your congratulations! It was just over a week ago, so you're not too late. :D

You probably don't even remember the VM that I'm responding to but thanks anyway. And congratulations on that promotion, however long ago it happened. :)

I miss it too but its replacement has definitely earned its spot there. If you ever get a free minute (or sixteen), you should give it a listen.

I think it's Osama that's going to be in the news for a long while, yet!

Nah, I was just looking for another topic because talking about modding for too long upsets me. I usually don't follow things like that. Unless an event has a direct influence on me, I don't bother myself with it too much. That may make me an ignorant bigot but... meh. I'm the type of person who'd rather have a debate over the efficiency of programming languages than a debate over Obama's medical care plan (or whatever's in the news these days).

I saw a bit of it, mainly when Kate Middleton - or, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge as she must now be known until she may/may not die in a car accident - got out of the car and everyone was oohing and aahing at the dress. Spent the rest of the day revising: FUN! Did you see any of it?

I would imagine that modding a section like C&M entails promoting activity more than "moderating" (deleting posts, approving threads, etc.). We're pretty much the opposite over here in Emulation. We don't have to worry about activity (in fact, sometimes I wish there was some way to reduce activity (excluding permabans)) so most of our time is spent dealing with all the newbies, instead.

Again, we're the complete opposite. I can't get my members to stop making threads. Most of them are just... ugh. I don't want to talk about modding anymore. It gets depressing. :(

So... how about that royal wedding. :D

For me, I log on in the morning to check Notifications, Staff Forums and C&M briefly. (I imagine reports will fall under this if and when I get one.) Then it's more of a case of little visits to PC but often throughout the day. Beforehand, I'd just go through all the forums I visit - PG, PGC, OVP etc. - post in threads I hadn't done if I liked the looks of them, and report nooby stuff (mainly in the first two), and then come back on and do the same. Now, though, I feel obliged to check C&M every time I log on. It's not stressful, given that there'll only be 2-3 new posts... but it's more the obligation to check it. At times I wish there was significantly more activity, but then I don't know how my modding activity would change as a result. For the most part, I do no more than 1/2 modly things a day (today's was deleting a post, yesterday's was updating the claim threads), and I like that at the moment, as I've got a crapload of revision to get down with. Once that's over, I'll be able to spend more time and stuff.

In terms of intelligence, I think most of the C&M populace can spell definitely, but I can't get them to create threads at the moment. Ah well... the year is young. Hopefully they'll learn!

It's not so bad once you get used to it. I have a tab open with my User CP (for subscribed threads) and another tab with all the new threads. Seeing how I'm subscribed to between one third and one half of all the current threads, I can just work my way down both lists simultaneously and get through all the new posts pretty quickly. There are usually between 25 and 50 threads that have received new posts every day (37 today). Once you throw in unapproved threads, reported posts, and responding to VMs & PMs, it adds up to roughly an hour, sometimes more, sometimes less. That's probably why so many Emulation moderators only last a couple months; it's a real chore. But luckily, unlike before, I actually get reports these days. There are a couple of members who are nice enough to report some of the SPAM (and one who, from what I can tell, reads almost every new thread :O).

But yeah, that's why I only log on once a day, sometimes twice. Any more than that and I get frustrated with how n00by most members are. I would wager that you get more intellectual-types over in C&M? Or, at least people who know how to spell "definitely" (I dunno why but apparently that's a really hard word for kids to spell :\).

An hour?! ZOMG, that's ages. It takes about five minutes to read all the new posts in C&M, and most of those are just short responses to questions. If I had to solidly read posts to make sure they were all OK for that long, I don't know what I'd do with myself! I feel for you.
