August 14th, 2012 8:56 PMArctosI think I have some idea as to at least two of the influences but I will allow you to keep the air of mystery xD
-
August 14th, 2012 8:46 PMLegendSounds good to me.
I shall not reveal the origins of Hyrus and what worlds influenced its creation quite yet. I will save that for the Q&A when the RP is done xD -
August 14th, 2012 8:20 PMArctosOkay thats a fair point and should be posted in a couple of hours depending on how important I deem sleep to be tonight xD.
I'll be sure to use Ser then! It makes sense and adds to the sense that Hyrus is not just medieval europe but a new and different world. -
August 14th, 2012 8:17 PMLegendI don't mind the character at all, really. I say write the SU now, post it when it's done and then my Co-GM and I will discuss it. I am sure there would be only minor complaints if any at all.
As far as Sir vs Ser...I'm not picky. Probably Ser since I made parts of Hyrus gender equal. -
August 14th, 2012 7:55 PMArctosWell no harm in paraphrasing here. I was thinking of him being the second born and least favoured son of a minor lord on The Golden Islands. Essentially an accident occurs wherein my character is the cause of the death of elder brother and is forced to relinquish his right to lordship and exiled by his father as a result. Living on the islands he takes to the sea as a trader (and smuggler but not a pirate). It is after a successful career and making a name for himself among the seafaring community he is summoned by the monks.
I felt this would explain his rough demeanour as well as the expected skill with weapons that in world such as Hyrus would really only be acquired by the children of the wealthy. Not sure if you think this would fit or not but seemed to leave a character who is perhaps a little different from the others within the Knights of Elikor.
As a side note are we using the traditional title of Sir for knights or the neutral gender title of Ser? -
August 14th, 2012 7:41 PMLegend*reads the edits*
Yeah, pretty much you got it. If the character had some renown or ability the monks would have seen them and recruited him/her accordingly. That is the only real...uhh...requirement I guess. -
August 14th, 2012 7:19 PMArctosYeah I reread and realised that and was editing my reply as you logged on and posted a reply xD
-
August 14th, 2012 7:13 PMLegendWe call them "Knights" but they are not necessarily "Sers." As long as you join that side, we are all good.
-
August 14th, 2012 5:00 PMArctosOkay so if I have this right I do not have to begin as a knight but rather would become a member of an order called the Knights of Ekilore? Knights with no true leige lord other than the monks?
I have a character in mind who should play off the prouder members of the group of knights quite well with the aid of a sharp tongue and sharper wit (Read: Hours of work thinking up witty remarks that I couldn't imagine saying as a spur of the moment thing). Needless to say the character in mind is not one for formal titles! -
August 14th, 2012 3:40 PMLegendWell depending on how quickly the RP advances (in terms of the Knights plotline), your character can come with either as a ship captain or something that the Monks employ to help out the Knights on their journey or as a character that happens to be in Shingou (their next location *spoiler alert*). Whatever you prefer.

August 14th, 2012 3:10 PMArctosMy SU for Atlantis was rather rushed and confused thanks to my indecisiveness as to a power. But thank you for the compliment xD Just a quick question but as a late coming knight is there any specific way you want my character to enter the RP?
-
August 14th, 2012 11:30 AMLegendGood luck on it. I am sure you will do fine. Your SU for Atlantis was pretty solid so I believe you will do fine for Hyrus. If you need any help, let me know.

August 14th, 2012 11:09 AMArctosThat sounds great! I'll reread the background info and begin working on an SU in anticipation for the reopening. Thanks for the heads up! Just got to hope the SU I submit is good enough xD
-
August 14th, 2012 11:02 AMLegendOh I know xD. It just happens that we have a few inactive members right now that I am considering booting and would be looking to replace ASAP. You would have to be a "Knight" though. I am sure you won't mind though for reasons I will keep to myself ;D
-
August 14th, 2012 10:56 AMArctosDefinitely but I don't want you to think that was what I was fishing for with that post! It truly was meant purely as a compliment. Credit where its due and all that.
