August 30th, 2014 10:23 PMNolafusSince I'm working right now, I can see where my limited education will take me. If I was interested in a field that absolutely required a degree, then I would definitely go back to college, but writers just need patience and hard work, so that's what I'm going to do. Even though I dropped out of college, I still think it's tremendously important in today's society.

August 30th, 2014 9:38 PMrickyt713wow that wouldof definitely been a weird but insightful process to be put through, although i have the maturity and mind of a middle school student, so once i get in the work force ill be able to confirm that theory lol.

August 29th, 2014 7:15 PMNolafusOuch, good luck with that!
Yes, I can't agree more. I feel like if they tried a bit more with getting students to see the value of education, it would go a long way. I'm not talking about more videos or lectures, but some real stuff that will actually stick. My band teacher said he would like it if middle school students were forced to get a job instead of go to school, just so they could see how far their limited education would take them (not very far), and how much an education would help. I think that's a pretty good plan, since middle school students tend to lose their intelligence, haha. -
August 29th, 2014 7:07 PMrickyt713well according to my hw this week im gonna be face deep in some used books for labor day
i always like to think the most stressful processes with purpose are some of the most rewarding, the situations that are stressful for no reason are definitely not worth it -
August 26th, 2014 6:53 PMNolafusThat's okay, school takes way too much time, haha.
It sounds like you got a great deal, and that's always good. Let's just hope the professors actually use their textbooks a lot.
Every time I start a writing project, I think I must be the dumbest person alive, or a genius. I can't believe I actually want to go through the entire process again with all of its stressful glory. -
August 26th, 2014 6:09 PMrickyt713my bad, had to prepare for school, havnt been on in a while
anyway yeah i just rented $500 worth of textbooks for about $200, so at least theres that option, hopefully they get used instead of being an out of place, dusty decoration under my bed
hey at least you can get the satisfaction of putting your time into it even if you didnt hear back from them, people would think that the project was a waste of time, but just having the experience of being able to put your thoughts down and your ideas down into comprehensible writing and having fun with it is a win in my book. -
August 18th, 2014 6:20 PMNolafusAnd it's even worse of the class doesn't even use the textbook. I've had a class like that, and I sure as heck wasn't happy about it.
Maybe! It's always a possibility. And what the heck, the worst thing is that I never hear back, and that's not that bad. -
August 18th, 2014 5:16 PMrickyt713yeah seriously, i rent textbooks for about half the price but even then its disgusting how much i still have to pay.
it may have even happened and we didnt even notice it yet. also id say go for it. it wouldnt hurt to keep that as a side project and eventually send it in. who knows whatll happen, it may even someday show up on the big screen. -
August 13th, 2014 7:19 PMNolafusThat's business for you! Oh, and textbooks are some of the biggest rip offs the world has ever seen.
I hear that! Of course, I work full time now, so I feel productive most of the time. I might have found mine, but it's a race against time and all odds to see if it will even happen. I thought of a sequel to District 9 (since that movie really needs one), so I was thinking it would be pretty cool if I wrote out my idea and sent it to the director of the original one. With any luck, he'll like it. -
August 13th, 2014 6:23 PMrickyt713And thats what it all comes around to...money. they will make sure that you are out of the college within 4-5 years and charge you for every step you take on campus and every word you read in a textbook (thats why i dont read any of them).
that golden gem can happen at any time, so itll definitely be worth it once a person finds it. i hope mine happens soon, sitting in a chair all day being on the internet gets old after a while. -
August 8th, 2014 7:11 PMNolafusIt just doesn't make that much sense. I know money trumps the student's education, but this is a little extreme. I mean, you can actually get a degree in something while taking only a few classes on the subject, if any at all.
Most people don't think their life is that interesting. The majority of most people's life is pretty average, but the part I'm interested in is that golden gem that makes their life unique. -
August 8th, 2014 10:53 AMrickyt713i hate that so much. im going to graduate without taking about 3-4 of my communications courses that are going to matter later on, instead im going to have to take an internship, which definitely has its benefits but without those classes, it would probably become pretty difficult over time.
well it definetly is possible that it would be creepy, but every once in a while i bet someone would be completely willing to give their whole life story. then again i think it would be better to just speculate about someones life. your mind can make them whoever or whatever you want them to be and in turn would make their life story much more interesting. -
August 4th, 2014 12:06 PMNolafusThe only thing I would go to college for is writing, so I never got why I had to take all of these other classes. I mean, why on earth would I want to take math when my field isn't even close to using that. My counselor also told me that I wouldn't have the time to take any creative writing courses because I needed my general education requirements. It's like, what? They were going to give me a creative writing degree without me actually taking a creative writing course.
That sentence did make sense! I think it would be kind of cool to find out a lot of people's backstory and figure out what made them the person they are today. But, going up to people and asking for their entire life story is kind of creepy, so that's where books come in! -
August 4th, 2014 9:23 AMrickyt713exactly. im fine with one class to just go through the basics but i dont wanna take 3 or 4 classes on multiple subjects that i despise or dont need at all. i want to be able to sign up for classes that sound interesting, thats why i took japanese and also why i took a course called psychological statistics. the stats class sounded interesting even though i despise math and it turned out to be a good class.
i also think about that too. the way you see your life through your perspective is how someone else sees their life through their perspective (if that sentence just made sense). being around a group of 40 people means that, including your life that you lived, 40 other lives that have been lived, some shorter, some longer, some tougher, some easier, but never exactly the same. -
July 31st, 2014 11:24 PMNolafusThat's honestly why I dropped out of college. I felt like I was going there every day just wasting my time. I might have been doing a lot of work, but I was hardly learning a thing. Although, that first quarter was worth it. People were actually forced to participate and share ideas, so no one was really left behind. Plus, people were there because they signed up for it. That's where I feel like schools fall short. They don't realize that some kids just don't understand or enjoy certain subject. I can understand wanting a basic understanding of everything as fundamentals, but don't force them to sit through hour after hour of boring subjects as they slowly wither away on the inside.
It's also a little weird to think that everyone had their beginning. I kind of like looking into a crowd, and imagining the people there as they grew up. Every person has their story, and I think that's pretty great.
