that's what is desperately needed right now for schools and universities. Actually give classes that will make people think and have fun with and learn something that is worthwhile (except for the 4 hours of reading part) and not make them take ones that are completely unnecessary. i have over 120 credits right now and i can honestly say that 100 of them are completely useless, the only worthwhile classes i have taken are my year and a half of Japanese and my public speaking class.

that's why it's so scary! life is such a fragile thing and one person can either keep it going or be the deciding factor of when it ends.

It made you think a lot. I went home just about every day with a head full of mush. But then I still had four hours of reading ahead of me, so I had to pull myself together. It was a lot of fun, and it gave me a new perspective on life, so I think it was worth it.

What's even weirder is that because of that one character changing, my main character lived. He was originally going to die at the end, so it was the difference between life and death. Think about that!

that actually does sound like an interesting class. i bet it made you think a lot about what could really be considered a "good life." i remember my philosophy class made me think so much my brain almost exploded, it was awesome until i had to have test to remember all of the philosophers and then i became disinterested immediately.

that's the coolest and the scariest thing about life. what if one little thing was different. would that change your life completely or be the only thing that's different...ugh it hurts to think about.

I know! School does a terrible job of that, and so does society. They teach that money equals happiness, when that's not necessarily so. For one of my quarters at college, I had a class called, "The Good Life". It was a mix of English 101, English 111, and Psychology 100. It was interesting because we delved into what made the good life. So many philosophers...

Totally! It was actually quite interesting. The only thing I changed initially was one character, and all of a sudden, the entire book changed along with it. The character wasn't even a major one too. It makes you wonder how different your life would be if one person was different.

yeah exactly and if you get the opportunity to have a good paying job or occupation that is also fun for you, then you hit the jackpot. to bad i was not taught that and was only told to be stressed out and try to get the highest paying job possible.

and hey at least you still finished the book, a thrown out planned book is better than no book.....i think....

That's why I'm doing writing! I think jobs people strive for shouldn't be the top ones that everyone seems to romanticize, but ones that you find fun. If you don't like getting up every day to go to work, then why would you work there? Of course, it has to pay the bills too, so that's where it gets tricky.

And that's where planning comes along! I spent about a year of an and off planning to get through my book idea. Of course, I abandoned my plan by the third chapter, but that's besides the point.

hey as long as you have fun, thats what counts. im hoping whatever i do in the future will be fun to me.

oh i can bet that its a lot harder to write than a short story. the way i write, it would probably take me like 20 years to write a 100 pg book and i would have ran out of ideas at the 3rd pg.

I know the feeling! For my short, little while in college, I actually started thinking about the essay topics like debates on PC, and they weren't so painful. Although, I did receive the critique that I was too conversational, but oh well. I like my style, and that is one person's opinion.

It's going to be a long road, but I think it's going to be fun. Maybe I'll even get a book published. Books are so much harder to write than short stories, that's what I've learned so far!

it gets to the point for me where i might as well just copy and paste my essays because i usually just say the same things.

hopefully you get those few spots of glory, and even if not at least your work was considered enough for a rejection, id take that anyday instead of not seeing if theyll consider my work at all.

    Oh, no worries!

Well, it helps when you like writing. Not that I actually enjoyed all of those essays in school. When it comes to essays, I'll be the first to complain. There's nothing quite as painful as forced writing

Actually, I think they send a letter no matter what. I'm afraid the life of a writer is rejection with a few spots of glory, and there are very good writers that have never been accepted. So, if I get rejected, at least I'll be in good company.

my bad that i havnt been on in a while

a twelve chapter book sounds like it would hurt to write. it takes me 3 months to write an introductory paragraph to a term paper....and then an all nighter for the rest of it. most of the rest of the time is spent playing games such as pokemon.

and hey a rejection letter is better than the publishers not even looking at your work, so i would say that would be awesome in itself.

Well, I just finished a twelve chapter book, so I'm taking a little break. It's not that good of a story, but it was my first writing project I took seriously, so it was more of a learning experience than anything.

As far as current projects go, I plan to finish my three short story ideas this month. One I already wrote out, but I want to polish it up the best I can and send it off to publishers. If I reach my goal, I could be receiving my first rejection letters by the beginning of next month!

Hey, at least that means you have persistence!

It's the only type of coffee I can drink. Even then, I still don't drink it. Ironic, isn't it?

I write whatever pops into my head that interests me. Although, that mainly seems to be science fiction. However, I don't do advanced technologies or space fights. Rather, I do more subtle stuff like aliens living on earth and people with powers. Although, I do have some ideas for more realism stories.

haha, hey at least you realized your hate. i failed algebra 3 times in the last 6 years and yet i still thought it would be a good idea to pursue accounting.

also a coffee milkshake either sounds amazingly awesome or absolutely horrible

anyway what type of things do you write?
