April 16th, 2015 7:32 PMNolafusOh yeah, my first novel attempt took about a year and a half to complete, and I didn't even plan much on that, just sort of wrote it out.
Yeah, the underlying tones and subtle gestures and tricks will be hard to get down, but amazing of done well. -
April 16th, 2015 8:35 AMgimmepieA while I assume xD
No don't worry, I think you're write. This is a really cool concept it's just hard to do haha. Writing it will be crazy difficult. -
April 16th, 2015 8:14 AMNolafusThat's the plan, but man, I forgot how long it takes to do these sorts of things, haha.
I'm thinking of a more everyday choice that a lot of people can relate to. Obviously stealing is wrong, so that would give the angel an advantage. I think a choice that isn't obviously right or wrong would give each side a good argument, and display how they both manipulate their host. It's your story though, so I don't want to feel like I'm forcing ideas onto you. -
April 16th, 2015 7:36 AMgimmepieI think you'll do a great job :D
To steal or not to steal perhaps? -
April 16th, 2015 7:29 AMNolafusI hope so, the idea is different, so hopefully I can make it interesting.
Do you have any choices in mind? -
April 15th, 2015 8:28 AMgimmepieOooooooh interesting!
That's what I'm stuck on haha -
April 15th, 2015 7:56 AMNolafusSpoiler:
Well, kind of? Except, the genetic differences of the main character are a lot easier to see:
Spoiler:
Now you need a choice, and tension between the two. In what ways will they try to manipulate their host? -
April 15th, 2015 7:43 AMgimmepiePrawns, right? xD
Gattaca is a dystopian movie where non-genetically engineered children are despised. Here's a link
Of course it will be!
I don't have much for the latter two ideas, but the angel/devil one will centre around them trying to make the person they guide make a good/bad choice. -
April 15th, 2015 7:19 AMNolafusYou don't have to remember much about the movie. Not a whole lot carries over, since it's set thirty years after District 9, and District 10 is up and running. What you have to remember is what the aliens look like, and that everyone hates them, haha.
I haven't read/seen Gattaca. What's that about?
It's still in the very early stages, but I think it's going to be pretty good.
Hmm... do you have a main conflict for both stories? Stories progress because of conflict, so if you can identify that, get the basis for the characters down, and think about how they would react, it might help you along. Once you have the skeleton, then you can start thinking about the extra stuff like plot twists, secondary characters, etc. -
April 14th, 2015 10:19 PMgimmepieI have seen it but not for a long time, I don't remember it very well at all. That actually sounds really awesome though :D
I have read 1984, it's such an interesting book and it's a little scary how right Orwell has been about some things. It feels kind of like 1984 meets Gattaca the way you describe it xD
Oh that sounds awesome, especially because it will be two amazing writers working together. I look forward to reading all of these!
Maybe, right now I two main ideas, both short stories. One will be about a devil and an angel on a persons shoulders. The second is another thriller, this time dealing with a person who is being stalked by someone they talk to on Skype. Honestly though I'm not sure how to go about either. I talked a little with Nakuzami about revisiting some characters of ours from an RPC event as a collaborative fix also but I dunno. -
April 14th, 2015 6:55 PMNolafusWell, the first one I'll be posting is a District 9 fanfic. I can't remember if I've already asked you if you've seen it. Anyway, if you have, I basically wanted to explore the quirky little idea of one of the aliens getting into music, and eventually becoming a musician. Now, it's a serious idea about segregation and one alien's musical approach to cope with the social barrier and to possible push past it. The second one is my next novel attempt. In short, it's a dystopia story about a genetic experiment that wasn't supposed to be alive, and now that he's found out, he has to now find out how to live in the society that's very similar to 1984, if you've read that. Lastly, the third one is way down the road, but it's a collab with Klippy and it's a story about a kid who gets bullied in school, and the one kid who's willing to stick up for him.
You should tell me your ideas now! Maybe I can help. -
April 14th, 2015 8:56 AMgimmepieI suppose it is xD
That takes some serious dedication and motivation, I am impressed. Care to give some information (without spoiling anything) as to what they are about?
Only in the RPC, I have some ideas for FF&W but I haven't gotten around to making them happen because I'm not totally sure how to go about anything. -
April 14th, 2015 8:48 AMNolafusIt will. Our age is all about finding out where you fit into the world and learning how to achieve it.
I'm working on three stories at the moment, but it'll still be a couple months before I'll be ready to post anything. I'm writing through the entire story, and then going back and hammering it into place.
Do any writing yourself? -
April 14th, 2015 8:43 AMgimmepieLife is pretty meh, but it has to get better eventually.
Writing anything interesting at the moment? -
April 14th, 2015 8:40 AMNolafusI can't complain, which is always good.
How about you?
