July 16th, 2014 3:03 PMBelldandyToday's an errand day lol jeez, I just want to play Pokemon lol

July 16th, 2014 2:17 PMCycloneThat I actually did not know. I try to control the number of Eggs at a time anyway, and I usually don't keep the parent for use (instead keeping and leveling a baby if anything; I mean, who needs four stages of a breeding project on hand?), but I figure, if I'm going to trade a parent away, I should at least keep an Egg Move there without wasting the Heart Scale; most won't check with the move lady whether it knew an Egg Move. :)

July 16th, 2014 12:16 PMBelldandyDid you know if you leave a parent in the daycare and don't remove it, even if it levels up and forgets a move, the babies will have the moves of the parents when originally submitted to the daycare?
i.e. a Skitty that knows Charm with a female Pikachu (to breed Charm onto Pichu) that levels up and forgets Charm will still produce offspring with Charm, because Charm was known by the parent when originally submitted.
Once you the applicable parent out of the daycare, though, it's a permanent overwrite and you'd need to use an HS to learn Charm back on for further breeding, if applicable. -
July 16th, 2014 11:29 AMCycloneTurns out my Jolly Ditto is still in the Daycare with an Everstone from the Croagunk project. If you're all right with Jolly, I have my steps set:
1. Hatch a Jolly male Pinsir and learn Seismic Toss early on (doing that now).
2. Level up my Lv.26 Brick Break Heracross to Lv.46 for Megahorn.
3. Breed the Jolly Pinsir with any Heracross and combine Jolly nature and Seismic Toss with Rock Blast and Megahorn. Three down, one to go.
4. Level up a bit to ensure no overwriting, and combine all four Egg Moves into a baby. Include the Destiny Knot if there are numerous 31s already in the male parent.
5. Breed for IVs from the resulting babies with the Ditto, which would then return to the Daycare. At this point, Adamant could also be substituted if preferred. Only breeding females due to the Apricorn Ball preferred and not looking at the ability in this step. -
July 16th, 2014 11:12 AMCycloneAlrighty. :)
Time to see what my Pinsir is.
EDIT: Ah, it's male, but Seismic Toss has been forgotten (Lv.8 learned move). I think I'll just breed another instead of wasting a Heart Scale. -
July 16th, 2014 10:36 AMBelldandyAdamant or Jolly is OK :)
-
July 16th, 2014 10:33 AMCycloneI forgot to ask. What is the preferred Nature? My Adamant Ditto is temporarily over in Y from cloning purposes, but I can send a copy back to X if needed.
-
July 16th, 2014 10:32 AMCycloneI will do that then! I guess I'll start with Seismic Toss, then I can level up both it, the Focus Punch user, and the existing higher-level one so I can get Megahorn and get the Egg Moves all quickly. With four Egg Moves, I'll just breed for IVs later since Egg Moves are automatic in breeding with Ditto. :)
EDIT: Oh hey...the female Focus Puncher is Lv.14. Maybe I should have looked for a higher-level one to speed up Lv.46. Oh well; I never played to Mt. Silver there, so I can't access Route 28 unless I do wall-walking. Which I COULD do... -
July 16th, 2014 10:24 AMBelldandyI prefer female in Level Ball :) I can always get an HA Heracross later XD
-
July 16th, 2014 10:20 AMCycloneWell, I have made my first two Apricorn Ball catches and transfers. I think I'll make routine trips around Johto now and collect the Apricorns just for the sake of this, and while doing that, periodically clone TMs just in case there's a request.
With that said, both the male Heracross (Great Ball because it's male and refused to go in six Poké Balls) and the female Heracross (Level Ball, had four, took one attempt) have Focus Punch. So does the female Aipom (Friend Ball) that I found in the same tree as the Heracross. I meant to add the Lure Ball Psyduck to the transfer, but I forgot about it before playing the game and left it for a later time (I cloned the male once, the Aipom thrice, and the female Heracross twice just to complete the group of six). I should look into all of the import Egg Moves and see if I can set up a box of such males for breeding unto unsuspecting females. :)
So, in other words, I can now do your Heracross! The only question is: do you want it WITH the Hidden Ability (in which case I use the male, you can't use the Level Ball), or do you want it in the Level Ball (which due to breeding rules cannot have a Hidden Ability)? -
July 15th, 2014 7:26 PMCycloneHey. Just to check, is that Buneary request of mine dependent on the Heracross, BTW? ;) Just got a Buneary through WT today, but I don't think it has Egg Moves.
And yeah, might need to choose between HA and Apricorn Ball. If that type of thing interests you. If not, I can see what my used Diamond and Pearl have once the other three moves are together.
EDIT: Megahorn is learned normally at Lv.46. But I do see it's also an Egg Move. I suppose leveling one of mine to Lv.46 is enough, or I can find a Scolipede to breed with if I'm in a hurry. Might use one of the existing parents to speed things up and worry about IVs later. Seismic Toss, meanwhile, does have to be bred. -
July 15th, 2014 7:12 PMCycloneYeah. Mine came from a 4IV Croagunk and the same type of Ditto.
In other words, I wasn't even trying.
But now that I have 6IVs, I can breed up one of the Heracross and try to do the Heracross you were talking about. The only potential problem is the Egg Move Focus Punch. If I use a female, I can get an Apricorn Ball; if I get a male, I can get the hidden ability from my existing female. Am I right that a male cannot pass the hidden ability when bred with a female, but only with a Ditto? If that is correct, any Pokémon with both the hidden ability AND an Apricorn Ball is automatically a hack.
EDIT: I checked and can confirm Hidden Ability and Dream/Apricorn Ball together is a hack since males cannot pass the ball, and cannot pass the HA except with a Ditto. Further, male balls do not pass with a Ditto. -
July 15th, 2014 4:48 PMBelldandyNope, 6IV Buneary and 6IV Ditto :P
-
July 15th, 2014 4:45 PMCycloneWere you using a 4IV? Good luck with that. :)
-
July 15th, 2014 3:58 PMBelldandyXD Those 6IV like you. I got two 6IV Buneary in three Eggs yesterday :(!
