    Glad you didn't have to endure it too much. :D And haha, it is fine, I guess. Just don't forget A&D completely, y'know. I'm not gonna be too active either, yeah. School really does take away quite a lot of my time during these few months of the year. February and March being particularly busy months for me. So yeah, I guess I know how you feel. ;~;

    I think it was a one day thing. The most annoying single day/night ever, but nevertheless. :)

    Unfortunately, I have no time to do any further critiques ATM. The school rush is startin' up again! Maybe I'll get back to people and do summore tomorrow. I read you've got school holdin' you back, too.

    Well, hope things have calmed down a bit and your critic batteries are all charged by now! :D

    Thanks, hah. I'm gonna change it once I find out what I'm doing. Still, I'd rather take a meh start over this. There's so much banging going on just outside my door now that I think it's making me bitter, because I'm grown accustomed to them being gone, and my classes haven't started yet so I'm not away from it all.

    I think it's starting to have an affect on my critiques over at A & D, so I'm gonna stop posting there for a while before, lest I review someone's work with a total prune face going on. I need some air, haha. I gotta pay the rent anyway.

    Yeah, I read it there and it totally sucks, man. ;; Mine's off to a boring start, actually. Nothing special. Everything's meh. ;;

    I love your profile pic, btw. <3

    Thanks, even though it's off to a rough start. ñ_ñ; I mentioned it in the count to infinty thread, so I won't spam you with it, but let's just say the barking has yet to stop. Oh wait... what's that? Silence! Glorious silence that may only last another minute or two. C¦

    Hope your new year's off to a better start than mine, though!

    (Also, kinda sucks that I can't put in backgrounds right off, so I'll be sure to check out that donation thing.)

    The CSS thread is here, actually. As for gradient maps, I actually have yet to add anything about it. :p People generally spam gradient maps and neglect color adjustments so I made it a priority to explain stuff about color adjustment first. Although it doesn't really deal 'step by step' with it. It is more like 'if you use them, you can change stuff to a large degree. Examples below'. Selective colors is pretty much something that you'll learn only by experimenting. I know I did.

    As for the profile customization, you can actually change colors. Go to you userCP and click on customize profile to do that. You can't apply backgrounds, though. That's a supporter & staff only thing. Supporters are those who've donated some money to PC. You can find more about it here. :]

    Being a mod doesn't really make me all that busy, haha. Not especially in a not-so-active section like ours. Plus, our user-base is great so spam is rare. c: And thank you! I wish the same to you!

    I think you pointed this out already, but I found your large scale tutorial here.

    http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=293464

    Of course, I thought it was something else entirely. I was looking for something on CSS. I'll have to really go through the above in depth, though, because you probably talk about some things in detail I brought up last time, and in your reply. Mainly and mostly color adjustments. I'll probably never get it until I "get it", which'll require a lot of testing. And I'm sure you go over gradient maps, so I'll look for that, too.

    What I'm currently looking for though is how to change stuff in the user profile. I just found the separate profile image thing, and another page is full of what looks like a bunch of forum codes, or HTML or something. That's probably where the work gets done. I see you have your own background and theme going. Alexial has one too, and I've seen other mods with it. Gosh, I think everyone else here figured it out on some level. Yours is so neat though with the honeycomb-ish motif and the background image. Does PC have a thread about this somewhere, or do I have to make a post on the questions/answers forum?

    Well, it's not something I gotta have, I have no theme in mind anyway (I have a BG idea, but I'll cross that bridge...). I just don't like staring at my sad white background while everyone else including those who probably just joined today has it down. That's what I get for not participating on forums in several years, I'm so behind.

    "Business" aside (being mod and I'm bothering you with boring forum questions XP), hope you have or had a good new year's eve. Or at least that you make/made the most of it!

    Actually it is more due to me being awfully lazy. I tend to keep stuff quite disorganized, haha. So yeah, all that clutter and those directories could probably have been much easier to navigate if it weren't for me being a lazy bum. :p And haha, I just try random stuff. Whatever I feel suits the stock, really. And the rule of the thirds was something I learned a little late. But I try to apply it to maximum works of mine. I actually do believe it works really well a lot of times.

    As for bokeh, you can find TONS of them on Deviantart. You don't really need to make them yourself since there are a lot of people who've already gone through the trouble of doing so. ;] I just downloaded them from Deviantart and other sites. Google 'bokeh packs'. ;]

    Correct text-spacing can work wonders. :] Learned that from Abnegation. As for color adjustments, you'll need to take a look at some psds to notice how massive of a change they can bring about. I'll probably link you some stuff later. For now though, you may take a look at the resources and tutorials thread I sticked. There's an example on color adjustments in there. Also yeah, gradient maps are useful. :3

    And naah, you'll probably be able to do it just fine. All I do is random stuff. Anybody can do that, haha. And I know you understand all the basics. Someone who understands them will probably have much less problems, tbqh. ;]

    Regarding the video link:

    Cripes, man. You really have all those pictures and directories to sort through? It's no wonder you had to lock your thread, you've amassed one heck of a collection, and I'm betting most of it is (old) requests! Well, you certainly know what you're doing. Every now and then I had a moment where I was thinking "no no, don't do that" but then you make it work, and then I change my mind and think "wow, this guy knows way more about the inner workings of Photoshop than I do". Rules of thirds, I remember learning that in photography. I'm a horrible photographer, but I still remember that rule which I use for illustration and other things when I can. And then the bokeh, where'd you get all those textures?

    I have some sort of plugin called Alien Skin Bokeh 2. It's something you have to pay for, but can use as a trial for a certain amount of days. I remember messing around with it, as I needed it for a nighttime city background. Whether or not I ended up using it in the final image, I can't recall. Either way, my trial long expired, and it probably does more good to add bokeh to what already exists in the picture than as a texture you can overlay. :(

    I've never used tracking (or kerning, for that matter) creatively AFAIK, just to fix some fonts with questionable spacing, so that was interesting. One thing I never really understood was the color adjustments. I'm sure I've taken some classes that mentioned it and had me work with it, but I never really got it. It seemed to make more sense in your example, but the changes are just so subtle sometimes that I just don't worry about it. And I never even knew there was a such thing as a gradient map. I'll need to take a look at what that's all about.

    Anyway, it definately answered my question, and now I see just what you do. It requires about as much work as I thought it might, but not using methods I thought you would have, which is probably why I was so hooked on the video thinking "what will you do next". I'll probably never be able to duplicate it with success, though. :P I'll leave that up to you!

    Not here to request, I think you probably know how I feel about doing that.

    I've seen galleries like yours and Acquiescence by Cid, and on one hand really like what's being done, but on the other, I'm not exactly sure what's being done, either. I see all the before and after examples, but it's still not enough to paint a clear picture.

    I'm making the assumption that what you're doing is more graphic design and typography. But is anything else touched up from the source picture itself? Also, are personal graphic touches added in, like shapes and forms?

    I have a GD background, but didn't pursue it, so my knowledge of the subject has waned over the years, but I still understand some of the basics. I'm actually more curious, and interested to hear about your design process. That is to say, what do you do step by step? I'm speaking more generally, as I'd assume each piece kind of gets it's own treatment.

    I guess what I'm asking is, how does a found image turn into a signature work of Derozio? :) Also, I hope this question is still within forum rules. I don't have enough of an understanding of what's going on to comment on anything directly, but my curiousity and willingness to learn about it hopefully makes up for it (if nothing else but to satisfy the graphic designer in me that's barely making it through on life support, heh).
    The source picture isn't really changed much. Apart from its colors, maybe. Basically what we do is add all sorts of textures, c4d structures, brushes and fractals which work as effects enhancing the overall look of the tag or the piece in question and fills out the blank space in it as well. I recently made a video of it all, tbh. What I did in there isn't what I do all the time, no. But it will probably give you a good idea about the stuff that goes into making a generic 'Dero' tag. XD; The video can be found here.

    Oh, and you can check out the resource and tutorials thread I stickied if you wanna know more about the technical stuff. :]

    Thanks for the PM response, it was actually very nice, and made me feel better about my contributions (also, saw the one in the comic thread). :D Sorry about the confusion before. I was a little scared at first, heheh. I'll definitely remember the right way to respond to art galleries from this point on!
