December 22nd, 2012 6:07 PMGideon Jeremiah... I LOVE the Princess Bride! :D
It's right up there with Pride & Prejudice for me (I swear I'm not even joking >_>.).
What are you currently reading? -
December 22nd, 2012 6:05 PMLokiepieHaha thought as much :)
and ahs I will keep that in mind when I go back to uni and have some free time then :) still working through various different books however haha
I have to admit though it is not something I seek out but enjoy when I stumble across it :)
I mean my favourite book is the princess bride, a comedy and quite old but absolute brilliant :) The original has underlying politics when you analyse it too but it's not the strongest component of the tale:P but there non the less :D -
December 22nd, 2012 5:58 PMGideon JeremiahYes! :D
If you do not already know of it; I recommend you read Issac Asimov's "Foundation".
Now the entire series is split between 7 books, but the original alone is worth reading.
Note: I love Dune ^_^. -
December 22nd, 2012 5:50 PMLokiepieYeah, love Dune which is riddled in it :P amazing book!! :) guessing this is a subject within books that is a particular interest for you then??
-
December 22nd, 2012 5:44 PMGideon JeremiahHmm... do you like science fiction, or anything involving political intrigue?
-
December 22nd, 2012 5:32 PMLokiepiehaha I tried when i looked through Lovecraft's short tales but I just cannot settle with it :P I can barely get by one of the scary parts in my favourite book xD I know a lot of people like them though :)
-
December 22nd, 2012 5:29 PMGideon JeremiahOh no, it's alright.
I've made my peace with it.
O_O.
... please, for the sake of all that is holy (or unholy, whatever floats your boat), read something of his. Like... "The Shadow over Innsmouth" or "The Color out of Space". :D -
December 22nd, 2012 5:23 PMLokiepiesorry to hear that.
and wow definitely starting to sound like a very interesting game indeed! XD
and regrettably I can't say that I have read their stuff, though I have heard of them. Just bought Lovecrafts short tales for a friend of mine's christmas present xD
Flicked through the pages when I first picked up the book but couldn't settle and read it :P -
December 22nd, 2012 5:17 PMGideon JeremiahIt's funny, I actually got turned on to it by my sister, before she passed away a few months ago.
Oh it is immensely interesting!
Especially the religious take; they essentially have one religion which is a contrarian's perspective of Buddhism (they have the same journey [Koslun of the Qun & Siddhartha of Buddhism] & arrive at two different points; Siddhartha advocates personal isolation & non-violence in Buddhism, while Koslun advocates submersion & militarism in the Qun).
While the Elven religion is clearly the initial concept that the Human's religion of "The Maker" was stolen from. Similar to Christianity & other denominations having many similarities to much more ancient & well documented religions.
Ahhhhh~
I read a few hours everyday :D .
My favorite writers are still Leo Tolstoy, Issac Asimov & H.P. Lovecraft.
Have you read any of their works? -
December 22nd, 2012 5:13 PMLokiepieoh cool, that sounds really interestin! I have never played Dragon Age though :P watched my brother and bf play but never really tried myself :P
but like the fact that you are getting to see both sides of the story, is it interesting then? :)
and well types of books, I read an awful lot but I have a tendency to read a lot of fantasy books such as LotR as well as Sci-fi like star wars and Dune :D love comedy too though, I am an avid reader of Terry Pratchett's books as well as the Skulduggery Pleasant books by Landy makes me giggle to no end xD you?? -
December 22nd, 2012 5:06 PMGideon JeremiahDragon Age 2 :D .
Since the 3rd game/last game in the trilogy is coming out this fall, I am finishing my first of 2 files on this one.
In this play-through, I imported my save from the previous game, where I was a Elven Mage (more dialogue about the elven culture & the mages wanting freedom from the templars) & am siding with the mages on this DA2 file.
On my other one, I will be play as a human who always acts snide towards mages & side with the templars. Putting humans & non-magic above all else. That way I will see both sides of the story :) .
Hmm... what types of books do you read/enjoy? -
December 22nd, 2012 4:56 PMLokiepiewell forgive me for asking as I am a lil slow at times :P what is DA2? never come across this before,
and well my conversations just tend to evolve as they go a long :) can range from anything like cup cakes to why penguins look like they are always wearing suits :P so easy going really,
anything you wanna focus on?? :) -
December 22nd, 2012 4:52 PMGideon JeremiahHaha, well not particularly.
But thank you :) .
Hmm... well I will give that a shot later this evening.
As it is, I need to practice my mapping skills for the Gen V games (as well as scripting, though that's a bit easier to grasp) & finish my current campaign on DA2 :D .
Anything you'd like to chat about in particular? -
December 22nd, 2012 4:50 PMLokiepieyeah true dude but I am sure you pull it off :)
and immersion??
well why not just give it a fresh start here and try your hand at one of the on going rps?? :) they're good once you get the hang of it and practice makes perfect after all :) -
December 22nd, 2012 4:46 PMGideon JeremiahEeyup, truth be told; my only gripe is the issue with my hair & still going to school XD
Those all sound fantastic! :O
I have been asked, but never really been able.
I always have that "beginner" issue of accidentally breaking immersion.
