Well then. Creating a sprite from scratch. First off, I pick or envision what kind of body I want. To start, I would pick a frog, in spirit of Cave Story for the enemy from grasstown.

I use a vector tool to make a one pixel lined circle to start off as the body or I use the pencil tool.

After I have the shape, it's nothing but sprite modification skills from here. I make the bottom of the circle look flat for the bottom of the body, add a few legs, curve the top of the body down, add eyes and color with shades.

I'll make an expiremental sprite and post it on here soon.

Alright, first things first, if you have already had some experience in editing sprites; then creating from scratch should be a breeze or at least easy to do. If you got Skype or Team Viewer, I can physically show you how.

Why not help create enemies from scratch? Or artwork?

As much of a pain as it is, This is something I can teach, it's not hard.

    F*** YES!!!.....
Sorry, I should be more composed... But yeah, the game will be done with pixel artwork.
It's easier to manage and doesn't use as much processing power as 3D. It may require an a$$ load of the computers resources for what I and my brother have in mind.

... Thing is, I suck at scripting and music composing.

If this thing has pixels, I can do pixel art?

If you help out, I'll let you in on the story an ideas both my brother and I are doing.
Help in music, level design, art, story development, anything works.

Well, I hope that Cave Story is getting a sequel!

(Also there should be multi-player modes, too. >.<)

Pixel said himself if the game sold well through nintendo, he would strongly consider making a second one.
It's not entirely confirmed, but rumors are going around he was making one. It's hard to confirm it though.

Aside from him, there is also always Momodora II and III, the play style is simular to pixels as well as a little of the art.

There's 2 other games I'm wanting to develop as well, though they aren't ocming along well. One's cursed books which is made in RPG Maker, though I can't get the battle system I want.

Another is a 'co-op' metroid clone with VS. This one, I'm spending time coming up with its art.

Well, you don't exactly know his name unless you're doing the secret ending, which is actually hard to do if you're a normal player who didn't use walkthroughs.
