I got my ATAR back!!!!! I'll list the subjects I did alongside the marks I got:
Biology - 88
Chemistry - 79 (rip)
English Advanced - 91
English Extension 1 - 43/50
Legal Studies - 92
Mathematics - 81
Studies of Religion I - 48/50
That gave me a 93.75, which I'm fairly impressed with considering I was saddled with two relatively average subjects. I took Mathematics Extension 1 for a while, but I realised it wasn't for me in the middle of the year after coming last (~10 marks behind second last) in a mid-year exam and being ranked last by an unrecoverable margin
Your subject plan would give you 11 units for Year 11 (you need 12) so assuming you pick Extension Maths you would need an extra subject altogether, which would give you 13. 13 units is a lot of work - I did 13 units in Year 11 - but they're survivable, and you always have the chance to drop a subject you don't like in Year 12!
I've briefly thought about what I want to do for Year 11! Other than English, I'm definitely going to take Maths and at least one science. I was thinking either Biology or Chemistry since I've never been that fond of Physics. I'll probably also end up taking my electives for the HSC (History and Commerce) so hopefully that'll be fun? I haven't decided specifically on whether I should choose Ancient or Modern (same goes for Commerce with Legal and Business Studies) but I've got a rough idea of what I want to do at least. I don't know how many units that will add up to but as long as it's over 10, I'd be fine with just taking those subjects into the HSC. :D
I haven't thought about the units side of my subjects but I'll think about it more over the next year. Maths is easily my best subject at the moment so I could be ambitious and go for 4U if I felt like it but it's obviously something I still have to think over. I'm most likely just going to end up doing 3U though. Senior school sounds so scary, honestly. :( What subjects did you end up taking for the HSC? :o
I meant to reply but... never got around to it,,,,,,,,, sorry!
Uni starts on 27 February for me, fairly long break !_! I only bought Sun a week ago and I haven't made much progress lol. I've either been too busy or just don't get around to getting stuck into it. Don't worry about English essays at this point - I found Year 10 was the year where I really started to improve my craft with them bc my school started focussing more on them with the aim of making people better at writing. Have you started thinking about what subjects you want to do in Year 11?
Yeah, it sounds tough trying to find a job at the moment. You'll find one soon though, I'm sure of it! You could even work in fast food if it came down to it, the bonus being that you'd get free chicken nuggets (if it's KFC). The pay's not great but who doesn't like chicken nuggets :D Also when does uni start for you? My sister just finished her uni exams for the year so she said she's on break until March! That seems like a really long time but it's only fair, since she has very impossible looking work.
The Internet is always a great place to spend time 8) Have you had the chance to play Sun and Moon since you have free time now? And yeah, I heard that it's a huge step up from Year 10 into Year 11. I'm just going to relax until Year 10 starts. The only thing I'm really nervous about right now in terms of schoolwork is my English essays - it turns out that I'm not great at analysing literature. :')
been looking for casual work but I'm kind of out of luck because I left it until the last minute (waited until the HSC ended before even considering what I wanted to do). otherwise I've been going out once or twice a week to get myself out of the house, trying to find a new gym to go to and generally just screwing around the Internet when I'm not doing anything else.
Year 10 is mostly the same as Year 9 from my experience - the big jump happens from 10-11 but you'll be fine!
Free time is always good :D What sort of things have you been doing since you finished your HSC? I'm sure your ATAR will be awesome!
I'm almost done with Year 9 at the moment so I still have quite a bit of high school to go. Things are OK so far in terms of schoolwork, hoping it doesn't get too much harder! Get to start thinking about senior subjects and work experience next year though so yay for being almost an adult. \o/
