Hmm, they have close interactions with wild beasts in the desert, and that influences their character as they grow up. Like one of them bonded with a savage beast and that made him ruthless and impatient.

hmm, sounds interesting. I like it. it builds a stronger connection to the Sand Kingdom. The four were orphans in the barren land of Sand. They banded together much like Pein, Yahiko, and Konan did. Over time they became very skilled bandits and were hired by the Grass and Ice Kingdom to kidnap the Water Queen so that they wouldn't get linked to the theft until they had her in their borders. So, if these guys are all orphans, banding together to survive, what are they like? I think one should be gay for another guy, just throwing that out there. One of them is also writer, who records their adventures before their becoming of the best, which i can use as material for another season sometime later, with Matthew reading the story to his son.

Make the bad guys' history first. Like, they evolved from desert bandits who poached on innocent travelers, and they started grouping with each other and moved to the city.

actually, here's something more specific. I need a team of bad guys. Some work for the Grass Kingdom, others work for the Ice Kingdom. They are working together to kidnap the Queen of the Water Kingdom. By using her as ransom, they are going to force the Water King to sign a trade agreement that favors the Grass and Ice kingdoms.

    I don't know who's our badguys though

actually, this is supposed to be a more Monster-tamer-esque world. I'm getting my inspiration from Pokemon, though Pokeballs do not exist. The world effectively is populated by magical creatures that can do their own special thing. Matthew has a Weasel that can breath fire. His uncle has a giant golem. The dragon King has dragons that breath fire and can fly. But the humans can also fight, being able to use swords and other weapons from this time, with humans having the potential to take on the monsters that inhabit their world.

I kind of want humans to be magic-less. I want to enforce engineering to create a sort of Steam-punk esque world in the later seasons because of the need of industry to combat the rising Pokemon threat.

But actually, while I like the idea of an Academy myself, I don't want Matthew to go to it. I kind of want him to grow through war, develop strnegth and valor and seize the thrown his father had left him. but maybe his son could go to this academy?

Hah, it's a free world, anything can happen. We'll even implement 'magic' if you'd like.

When I meant Academy, I meant something like training center for troops, but this conception is much better.

So would you want to implement magic?

    hmm, academy?

That actually sounds intriguing. I was thinking of making the Thunder Kingdom a huge engineering empire, so it would make sense for them to have an Academy. Grass and Ice are kind of the generically evil countries. Greedy, unscrupulous, etc. They even go so far as kidnapping the queen of the water Kingdom to try and force a trade agreement with the king.

Exactly. The other kingdoms are aware that the Prince isn't exposed to the moral values of ruling so the other kingdom tries to lure him by falsely saying you'll be away from the royal business and enroll him in their Academy.

well, if the prince doesn't want to rule, but his uncle does, then doesn't that make more sense for the kingdoms to be going after the ncle, not Matt? what if he enrols in the Kingdom's military to combat the Dragon King when he tries to conquer the lands. The tests the Prince as a man and forces him to grow up and take responsibility. Over time he becomes a decent tactician and learns of the values of being a King.

And that might be the better idea. I think we can make it like one of the other kingdoms are trying to lure the prince away due to his inability to rule as King.
