January 3rd, 2021 12:24 PMDuckOh, just saw the edit, but it's looking fine

December 31st, 2020 8:12 AMRonii'm a dumb dumb. all this time i've been looking at Pokecommunity through the Johto Elite Dark Mode theme. just tried out the default and by god it looks so dark indeed. will change it to white asap.
EDIT - how's that -
December 31st, 2020 7:53 AMDuckStill looks kinda dark. As far as I can tell, there's nothing changing the text color so it's inheriting the default grey.
I messed with the inspect options and I think that changing those colors to a light-ish grey like #7d7d7d should do the trick. -
December 31st, 2020 6:34 AMRonidudee this website is pog thanks so much for this. bookmarked. i'm ashamed to call myself a graphic designer yet not have the eye for good contrast and text readability.
just recently decided to go the route of finding a new background for my flair, since i found a cooler one anyway so it's whatevs lol. i actually already have a slight drop shadow on the text, but i guess it wasn't enough, especially with the constant changing colors on that parallax background. how's it look now? -
December 31st, 2020 5:46 AMDuckYou mentioned wanting tips for making the flair text more clear on the Ban thread, so ...
There are basically three main options that I can think of: making the text color lighter, making the background color lighter or adding a light shadow (yes, I do realize it sounds dumb) to the text.
The property for the last is of the form:
text-shadow: right-offset bottom-offset blur-radius color;
As a general rule, you want the contrast ratio as calculated by this websiteto be at least 4.5:1, as that's the considered the minimum for accessibility purposes. -
December 30th, 2020 7:53 PMRoniyeah that's the unfortunate part. but at least there's a handful amount of cool CSS ideas over at the breeder stats page huehue.
there's the BBCode list found on the question mark drop down menu (top right icons), and the CSS Help Thread over at the internet and technology section. though the latter's pretty outdated. no one's posted since last year. -
December 30th, 2020 7:49 PMDuckUnfortunately it won't work if the post in a closed thread, and of course won't quite help for flairs. But still, a very handy feature.
Do you know if there's a centralized thread for CSS tips and questions? I think it'd be very handy. -
December 30th, 2020 7:08 PMRoniyeah, and i just realized if i wanna take a look at someone's bbcode for their post, i literally just have to quote their post in a reply and copy paste from there.
my god how did it take me this long to realize this... i've been stressing out for so long lmao. -
December 30th, 2020 6:31 PMDuckOh, interesting. Thanks!
Yeah, w3 schools and css-tricks can be life savers, lol -
December 30th, 2020 6:15 PMRonii got a relatively large photo (~1000 pixels wide), then used these codes
background-size: cover; background-attachment: fixed;
the second one's the one that got the effect going. was confused between scroll and fixed for a while last night, but i figured it out after some time hehe. big shoutout to w3 schools! -
December 30th, 2020 1:54 PMDuckHey, how did you get that parallax effect on the flair? It's a really dope effect.
-
December 25th, 2020 6:13 AMDuckMerry Christmas to you too!
