Wow. So, if one does not speak... what do they do? Does it get violent?

Yeah, the Hawk shows us that even being completely limp and incapable of speech is no insurmountable problem. It makes you wonder what is. So even with your anxiety, I suppose the only thing to do is keep on keeping on. Remember this tacky and yet strangely empowering quote: "Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right". A bit of self-confidence and you can take on the world.

It's a tiresome process, for sure. But ahh, there's nothing like Blu-ray.

Oh! Another thing about meltdowns and overloads in general... the person having them will usually go completely nonverbal. It doesn't matter if they are normally very chatty or not. It still happens because when they brain shuts down, the person basically can't think straight and focuses mostly on the trigger at all times during their overload/meltdown. Overloads are usually a sensory overload. For me, they usually occur when my emotions get out of whack. Basically, it's like... having a volcano erupt inside my brain. With shut downs, think of it as a computer when it gets a blue screen of death. There's no way to get passed this error unless you shut down the computer, right? That's how a shut down is like for an autistic person.

I've always actually been fascinated by Stephen Hawking. Not of his mind, but mostly of his disability. I mean, he's been through so much because of it that it inspires me with my own disabilities. It makes me realize that just because I'm autistic, have ADHD and severe anxiety, that I can overcome them with strong determination. I've already accepted my autism as being part of me, but my ADHD and my severe anxiety... that's still a long way to go. >< My ADHD tends to get i the way when I write. So like... I get bored easily of stories and have to make new ones. I can never finish previous ones. :c

Yeah, but I may have to buy the DVD or blu-ray anyway. I tried to find it online at one of those illegal movie sites, curiosity mind you, and I found out they weren't actually free. Most of them you have to do this or that or some stupid offer before you can even watch the movie. I usually don't like to bother doing that because it's illegal. :/ I prefer either buying it, finding it on Directv (tried that too but it's expensive to have to buy or rent it on pay per view) or waiting for Netflix or Hulu to aqcuire it. However, I do't think Hulu or Netflix will get it because of the rights. So, I'll just have to get the DVD or blu-ray. Luckily, I have a blu-ray in my bedroom that works really well. I finally was able to find my control for it as well. <3

Amazing, isn't it? Not too get all religious or anything, but there's a touch of a miracle in that. Divine intervention at its best.

Fantastic Beasts was a really great watch! I still haven't seen the sequel but I'm working on it. And yes, apparently Newt is rumoured to be an aspie. The depiction is, for want of better words, adorable and endearing. If I ever get to a cosplay event, I'll be pulling a Newt.

Unless you're down for torrents and all that jazz, I'm not sure how to acquire films. Getting DVDs is archaic and expensive.

Yeah. He actually outlived his condition though. He had ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease. So, he died knowing that he actually overcame something that most people don't do with that disease! Hillenburg, the Spongebob creator, had it as well... and he died from it. I also want to see that one. It's on Netflix. Eddie looks cute in it. <3 I'm still trying to figure out how to watch the first Fantastic Beasts. I hear a lot of talk that Newt is actually an aspie/autistic.

I'll definitely keep that in mind, and thanks again.

And yeah, I was going to make the main guy have a big question mark over his head when it came to the lad with Aspergers - at first thinking him spoilt, then unsettled, and then he figures it out. More rocky that way.

He's one-of-a-kind, that's for sure. My favourite actor! Need to re-watch The Theory of Everything, now that I think about it... and I'm still traumatised over the passing of Stephen Hawking. That was a terrible tragedy, wasn't it? There was such comfort in knowing that this life houses such a genius, such an inspiration.

Yeah... that's usually the problem. D: Most "professionals" don't really describe it enough. If you have any other autism questions, I'll do my best to help. :3 Usually though, it's good to also make it SEEM bratty to those around the character. If they are having the meltdown in public, people will shake their heads at the person or remark about how bratty the person is. Because people don't know what's going through the person's mind.

    Also, thanks. o/ I just think he's super cute~

Thanks! That was actually really helpful. I was anxious about accidentally making the as-of-yet un-created character seem bratty or something. And its pretty cool that you're so open about it.

And I didn't know about that stuff. In all of those articles, they just said 'meltdown' and didn't elaborate, so it was easy to just imagine a tantrum or something like that.

I don't really know how to even explain my meltdowns. However, one thing to keep in mind is that they differ highly from tantrums. The reason is because meltdowns are often triggered either by a sensory issue or maybe even a change in routine. The person having one doesn't do it to gain attention for any reason. It's more of an overload of the emotions associated with whatever the trigger is. You probably know that but... that's the only best explanation I have of them. ^^; Also, meltdowns can and will take the energy out of the person because they put in a lot of force into them to express frustration and again, overloaded emotions. There's also the moment when their brain can shut down. They can become completely unaware or not even care what's going on around them. I mean, that's how it usually is for me.

lol I'm not ashamed to talk about my autism stuff. :P If people ask, I tell them.

Definitely good for you. It's nice to have hundreds of ideas swimming around, or at least it's infinitely preferable to, you know, not. Being a writer is so fulfilling, yet so.... horrible.

It's easy to get stuck in routine and start to fear everything outside of it, huh.

And I've been wondering for a while... I hear of meltdowns when it comes to people in the spectrum, and I'd really like to know what they're like. If you've had any yourself, I'd be interested in knowing the gist. Of course, it'd be perfectly alright if you'd rather not, or would prefer to be PM or something. I don't mind. It's just that when I do write up a character, it'd be great to really be familiar with the whole thing.

I have so many stories in my head right now though. I'm not really sure which one to work on. :c That's the suckish part about being a writer right now. Also, a friend of ours in our living complex (she's a snowbird) has a son with Aspergers. I've never met him though because he doesn't like to come out here, which I have a feeling is probably because of routine and preferring home comforts over the idea of new places. I don't really blame him in all honesty.

Neat idea. Disorders of the mind are bloody fascinating and I'd love to befriend some people with Asperger's and the such in real life - learn everything I can and write a book that does them justice.

... but only a week left to the event and I'm mentally barren. Pray for me, lmao.

Sorry! I forgot to respond to this. >< I got preoccupied. Anyway, I'm trying to write my own Pokemon fanfiction. I'm also thinking of writing a story that takes place at a mental health facility about four teenage girls with different mental disorders as well. I'm still working everything out, but I hope to have a good story going.

Same. I'm always antsy and unfulfilled when there's no story in my soul. Very unpleasant to eat breakfast with, too, and I keep telling everyone to shut up.

But yeah, good idea! Roleplay seems like a lot of fun. I just can't hack the commitment.

So nervous about performing in front of people next week, though! I've never even sang in front of my family other than a short karaoke stint and a chorus of Old Lang Syne, let alone read out my own narrative in front of thirty strangers. Well, twenty strangers. I met about ten people today and they were all sensational.

Got to write like mad and get a short story down! It can only go on for five minutes, so that's one hell of a limit. And I'm competing with other people on my own accord. Going to blow them away, hopefully.
