March 12th, 2014 4:58 PMTalonAt first my favorite band was Queen, and that lasted up until like 3rd grade, and thats when Guitar Hero 3 came out. I played that game until I had done everything that could be done. Of course, Through The Fire and Flames - Dragon Force was on there. Dragon Force became basically an addiction for me. Up until like 5th grade thats what I listened to. Nothing else. In 5th grade I ran into a band, you probably know them, Three Days Grace. Still one of my favorite bands today. Up until the tail-end of 6th grade I listened to mosh-pit of DF and TDG. Then came around my Social Anxiety Disorder. It had always been there, but it developed a lot more. I started getting depressed, and listened more towards TDG because they had more meaning in their music. After that, without going into to much detail and making this that much longer, I started getting into Black Veil Brides, Fall Out Boy, TFK, Disturbed, Kamelot, A7x, Eminem, Papa Roach, Crush 40, Pierce The Veil, Lordi, etc. etc. I only recently got into In Flames, and after listening to one song (Take This Life), I got hooked. Deliver Us became my most listened to song, ever. Going onto Last.FM and having my Spotify activity tracked by it, Deliver Us is my third most played song, right behind Spit It Out - Slipknot, and Tomorrow - Downplay.

March 12th, 2014 4:48 PMHiatusI wasn't forced to get into genres like this, it was sort of accidental. xD" Never thought I'd like metal, but winded up running into this song on YouTube once, and actually loved it. I like Thousand Foot Krutch, too; it's an amazing band!

March 12th, 2014 4:44 PMTalonI think that metal and hard rock are just acquired tastes, so to speak. At first I didn't like it either, but the family I'm growing up in listen to it a lot, and the friends I found at school like it also, so in a way I was more or less forced to like it. I'm glad I was though, because it makes me happy to listen to it. In Flames isn't my favorite band, Thousand Foot Krutch is, but they are in my top 5. Every band in my top 5 is either metal or rap metal. (TFK, Slipknot, In Flames, Disturbed, FFDP).

March 12th, 2014 4:00 PMHiatusMetal music do have meaning, but for some people, though, it's kind of hard to put them all together.

March 12th, 2014 3:41 PMTalonI basically will listen to anything, except most dubstep / electronic. I think it just sounds like noise and has no meaning to it whatsoever. People seem to think that metal is just people screaming about killing everything, which in some rare cases is true, but the songs actually have meaning to them, unlike this new mainstream electronica.

March 11th, 2014 10:04 PMHiatusCouldn't agree more. I'm pretty much the same as you; when listening to music, it's mostly just metal and its variants.

March 11th, 2014 6:36 PMTalonNah, they aren't. Everyone just goes with the flow and falls in love with pop and rap. Don't get me wrong, I do like some pop and rap, but Metal, Hard Rock, and Shock Rap Metal is where most of my love lays. Music is just something I couldn't live without. It gives a sort of escape from the world outside, and lets me express my creativity and feelings in a new way.

March 11th, 2014 4:17 PMHiatusYeah, me too. :P Metal bands in general just don't seem to be too appreciated these days, if you ask me.
-
March 11th, 2014 1:17 PMTalonI know. I can think of a lot of bands that don't get the exposure they should.
-
March 10th, 2014 10:37 PMHiatusYup, yup. They're an amazing band, aren't they? It's kind of sad that they're not as popular as they should be. :(
