That is dedication, man, can't wait! How are you making them (or should that be a surprise)?

If you like my Fire Emblem idea now, just wait until you hear the little theme songs I'm making for each country ohohohoho!

It was really cool. Granted, I wasn't that old when I called them, but it felt like something better than the phone calls we have now with "Please listen closely, as our menu options have changed. Habla Espanol..."

Oh wow, that sounds pretty cool actually - I was expecting a much more clinical, detached kind of thing, like with most customer service-type calls these days. Nice to hear they sounded so friendly and helpful.

Basically, it's if your friend had the guide and you didn't, so you'd call him, tell him what game you were playing and where you were "Is it before, or after you fight the three-headed Dragon? Oh, you haven't gotten that far? Okay, well you were supposed to speak with the old man at Brick Out city then he would..." Kind of like that, but you could also write letters to them and they'd respond too. It wasn't like you called them and reached someone in a third world country that barely spoke English (no offense to those people). It was pretty personal like they'd say good job or "You got that far on your own? Sweet! Here's what to do next!" just like speaking to your buddy down the street. But writting letters was probably the cheaper of the two ways. I don't think there will ever be another service like the Game Pros ever again. It was a really unique thing to see and behold.

Haha, really? What were the calls like, did you just get to ask them that one question or do they kinda stay on the line with you for a while as you play through a tricky area? Wonder if the pros were just sitting there looking up stuff in guides all day - they can't possibly know every detail about every game. :P

This was definitely before our time, but apparently waay before online guides were a thing and even before those physical book guides, there were actually gaming expert "powerlines" that you could call for a one-on-one consultation if you get stuck on a game. :') I don't know if that was a thing offered outside of Nintendo, but it's just kind of funny to me, imagining what those calls would have been like.

Hahaha. I actually remember these. The hot-line sometimes cost more than a few pennies though, due to long distance rates at the time haha!
