To make it more confusing, Felicia's hair alternates between pink and orange for me. At times I think it's more of a peach color if anything.

I actually agree with Mikoto; she's such a driving force in the story, and even to other characters (Yukimura comes to mind), but really, I never got that disconnect.

I get the dynamic of his foster siblings caring for him and the confusing he (I played male) felt over returning to Hoshido and discovering his true family.

And I felt each choice was weighty and interesting for Corrin. I can't wait to see what the neutral path is like; but I'm busy with other games at the moment.

The only problem I have with it is the cop-out that the Hoshidan siblings aren't his true family either. It's just an excuse so you can ship the avatar with any of them, Nohr or Hoshido without fear of incest.

It makes sense that they are the children of the Hoshidan King's first wife, and Mikoto just wed in after and never added to the family... but, I think the story would work better if they were his biological family vs his emotional family.

And yeah; all paths are basically the same one, just backwards and forwards, but that's forgivable from a story standpoint at least. You have to transverse the maps in some way.

Have you played all 3, by chance? I'm not sure if Lillith's death in Revelations is best, but while I didn't really care myself, I did get that she had a huge attachment to Corrin, hence why she saved him early on. So those flaws you have worked for me at least.

Oh, man, don't tell me that; that a key element of it is just DLC. That's the one thing I hate about FE; in any form... they love DLC. The worst aspect of gaming these days.
Do you think they really cut out a story beat just to put it behind a paywall? Does it impact the story that much?

The character in Fates feel more like real people you have to read into, which I like (Kagero was very bland to me at first until I went through all her support and finally began to understand her, for example) but Awakening characters pop a bit more, even from the start.

You can literally tell who everyone is based solely on their character designs and even something as basic as what they say in a shop when selling their items.
Kellam comes to mind "Go ahead, sell my life..."

    Nah
"has pink hair" doesn't exactly narrow it down too much yeah lol

But re: Fates' story, I guess it depends on your standards for stories. I've kind of come to have a bit of a high standard for stories, for whatever reason. The beginning could've used to spend more time developing the relationship between Corrin and the royal siblings (and Mikoto), to make the choice between Conquest/Birthright harder on a emotional level, which would then also make the character deaths later have more impact. or maybe I just don't have a heart Building more of a relationship between Mikoto and Corrin would've made her death scene in chapter 5 make more sense. Corrin even outright states that they don't feel much of anything when learning that Mikoto is their mother, but then gets super pissed when she dies, and you're (or I'm, rather) sitting there like "but why tho?". Garon has very little character development, same with Corrin. Lilith's deaths are....kinda pointless really. And a big thing for me was how the story largely ends up being the same regardless of whether you choose Hoshido or Nohr (basically "invade the other kingdom to stop Garon"). In some ways that's fitting, but in other ways it's not, and maybe could've been done differently/better. There's also the whole reasoning for going along with the invasion of Hoshido in Conquest too. And then the rather odd decision to make what I feel are the biggest revelations of Revelations part of a pair of optional, paid DLC maps instead of part of the main story.

    In my opinion anyway.

And yeah, there's just something really nice about the characters in Awakening

Felicia is super cute, oh man, haha. I was interested in her from the very start.

I actually thought you meant Olivia in the pink hair post, haha.

But really, wasted potential for you? I haven't stated Revelations yet, but I've beaten the other two, and I'd say Fates' story is its best element. But I like Awakening slightly more due to characters. They just have a bit more pop to them.

    Nah
I have some I like from all of the FE games I've played, but the two that I'd say top the list for me are Nah and Felicia.

Fates....is good as a game, but its story was a lot of unfortunately wasted potential. Kind of annoying but also sad when that happens. Funny you mention it though, I started a new playthrough of it just a couple of days ago.

Are all your favorites from Awakening alone? What did you think of Fates?

Wise isn't a word I'd use to describe myself, but, uh, thank you.
