January 14th, 2016 11:31 AMIceHappy Birthday!

May 23rd, 2015 11:40 PMIceWell, as I said, a character that could change into real animals would best be a human mage that's like a skinwalker. I think an artifact that could change one into an animal is a bit strong to start with, but I know a great place to have your character obtain such an artifact.
I'd start writing your SU at the species part then, and send it to me on skype. I can see a wereboar working different from a werewolf.
I still have one left, but the others went good, I think. Which means I'm hopefully done with high school after next wednesday. -
May 23rd, 2015 7:46 AMLycanthropyWhat if I use an artifact then to transform full animal too? Okay, I'll stop being annoying, but I must say that not playing as a lycan is no option, at least not for my first character in the RP. I don't know if I'm willing to switch characters through the story.
I'm thinking about building a wereboar instead of a werewolf, but there's not much difference between the two aside from the looks of the hybrid form. I still need to work out the whole characteristics and background. I hope there's still time left.
I must've misread something about the artifacts then. I'll see if I can think of something funny.
Your exams are over now, aren't they? How did they go? -
May 20th, 2015 11:04 PMIceYeah, it would be a bit weird for a werewolf to not outrun a human, haha. The hybrid form would still allow them to walk tiptoed, and a bit on all fours, they're really quick. They basically get the perks of being a wolf, combined with having human traits, and added superstrength. The only downgrade is the loss in cognitive function. A wererat or a werepanther would work really well if you made you character like a skinwalker, I think. It's basically a human that can change into animals if he wears their pelts. Owh no, lower power artifacts are totally fine, it's just that the strong ones need to be introduced later in the story, with my permission. I don't want people starting out with a philosophers stone, haha

May 20th, 2015 6:25 AMLycanthropySpeed too? I thought the hybrid form of a lycanthrope just increased strength mainly, while speed would only be higher in the full animal form I'm used to its existance thanks to Dungeons and Dragons. Even when they may be able to have their good strength, brute force doesn't stand a chance against magic. I was actually thinking of building a wererat or maybe a werepanther, which don't really focus on strength, but more on skill and stealth. I thought as a wererat it would come in handy to transform to a rat, not because of powers it would have, but the have the possibility to enter small passages or sneak into places unnoticed. But I can understand your point too. I thought we weren't allowed to start with artifacts as a non-human and had to require them in the story.
By the way, why did you even ask for a co-GM for Stars of Sinnoh? It appears that you're still more active than me, even with your exams. :P
Oh, and a happy birthday! ^^ -
May 19th, 2015 12:09 PMIceWell, make sure to check with me if they're fine, haha.
I think that more people will not want to kill off their characters, haha
I haven't seen choice quest.
They are a lot less sandbox-y, I think, so there is more discussion to be had. And they are more active I'd say.
Werewolves are superhuman in strength and speed, beating most other species. You can always buff them with artifacts, but in general werewolves are already very brutal and strong. If you want to play something more akin to a real wolf than a skin-walker might be the way to go. -
May 19th, 2015 11:31 AMLycanthropyOther SU's gave some interesting other characters indeed. I'm probably going to throw in some random species myself in later arcs, if I manage to kill my character that is, because I have no idea if I'm actually able to. Writing out of a story isn't that hard, but I can get really attached to characters, it's annoying sometimes. I have no idea if you've seen Choice Quest at Trivia. I said in the beginning bad decisions can lead to deaths of the player, but I don't really feel like I can just end it, even with a revive at some chapters back.
Those RPs are the more advanced RPs I think, more than simple Pokémon sandboxes like Stars of Sinnoh. That's were the real RPT hermits are, so it makes more sense. I don't think there's much point in making one for Stars of Sinnoh, I don't really have the feeling many people really know each other or are really active.
Many monsters in Venice are able to disguise themselves as humans and can use some nice magic, seducing effects or some other special powers. I feel lycanthropes have a little disadvantage in here, being only able to shapeshift really, giving some drawbacks too. Would it be possible if the character would have the option to shapeshift into full animal too, while still having at least some amount of cognitive function? -
May 17th, 2015 10:46 AMIceYes, and that list is just common monsters, haha, there are more. The setting was made to serve just superpowered people at the start, but I also wanted to do something with gothic monsters, so I shifted focus. That does mean that human mage is still a hugely wide character range, though, haha.
Yes, it started out with the Titans group, and from their a lot of us got thrown into the big RPT chat. And because we discussed all kinds of RP's randomly, we organized it a bit and made different chats. There is one for Gunpowder, Titans, Railways, and Venice. That's at least the ones I'm part of. Stars of Sinnoh doesn't have one, though. -
May 17th, 2015 10:40 AMLycanthropyWith the appearance of Venice, Stars of Sinnoh just seemed to have gotten less appealing to write for. I really have a weakness for mythological creatures of some kind. You've really made a big list of them, while that isn't even necessary as human magician has tons of options by itself. It nearly distracted me from playing as a lycanthrope, haha.
I'll send you my Skype name via PM, for the RP group. Do many RPs have Skype groups? Because the ones I've signed up for all didn't. -
May 15th, 2015 4:28 AMIceYeah, the fun part comes out of the fact that people don't know each other's identity.
The way lycanthropy works now is that it gives someone the ability to change into a half man half wolf beast, but you lose some cognitive function, and basically run on your instincts. I think the setting will allow for a lot of crazy characters, haha. -
May 15th, 2015 2:42 AMLycanthropyThat can give really weird situations, as you might work together with or even against someone you know in real life without knowing the double identity.
Lycanthropy works a lot better that way. Sometimes it is possible to accept your curse and practice to gain control over it. Full control practically gives a shapeshifter, but it often gives a drawback to your personality, more ferocious even in human form. That wouldn't be a real problem if you're evil already though. -
May 14th, 2015 11:33 AMIceYeah, especially when you don't use characters from other media as your appearance. It's so cool to see them visualised.
Thanks :3
The way I set up the 'veil' between normal life and supernatural life in that world is that people don't know about each other being not human at day, and when they do supernatural things they put on masks. I had the idea for a superhero story set in Venice, because the canals and the masks could do for some fun storytelling. And because it's a very rich city with a lot of trade, you can have very eccentric stuff happen, and have a mix of different cultures. I hope it draws some people in, haha. And I'll be accepting other werebeasts, although to keep them viable in action, they become a bit more like shapeshifters, than straight up lycans. -
May 14th, 2015 8:51 AMLycanthropyI know, it's a bit like the artworks created here, but then you feel an even bigger connection with it, as you gave all characteristics yourself. I even managed to start liking some Pokémon just because I used them in an RP, not even in any game, really weird.
I don't see why you would have any reason to complain, your sprites are awesome.
Is there any special reason why you chose Venice? Is there any connection between mythical monsters and that place or is it just a random location? I'll just see at that time, it's hard to estimate my time at that moment, because I'll be having exams coming up in four weeks, I think. If I happen to join, I'll probably going to bother you with asking for the possibilities of other lycanthropes, because werewolves are too mainstream. :) -
May 14th, 2015 8:32 AMIceThey are adorable, aren't they? It's fun to see a character you created be put in art form. I wish I could draw, but alas, just sprites for me.
I'm waiting for some feedback from Deceptio and Gimmepie, and once I've incorporated that, I plan to launch it. It's going to be Venice filled with monsters like vampires, werewolves and ghosts, and superpowered humans battling it out. If you feel like you can't join at the start, it's set up to be very joinable later on, and easy to step out of too.
I'm waiting on the Infinite/Canceler JP and the Gios7m/Likarus JP, and I'll move on then. I'll need to check how many players have arrived in Jubilife. We can move on if that's at 3/4th I'd say.
