Thanks, I may need to wait until tomorrow to get onto the IRC (or just stay up really late) because I'm not in close proximity to my Windows OS and won't be until this evening (from what I understand, it's a bit late where you live and you'll be asleep in about eight hours). I'm also looking at Shiny Quagsire's thread on ASM, and it seems much easier to understand now that I'm looking over it a bit more clearheadedly. Which, you know, I don't usually do considering that my sleep schedule is awful even with my medication and I do most of my work from 13:00 PST to like... 01:00 PST the next day or later, and sometimes I just don't sleep at all. I think my record for insomnia is like 43 hours with little to no food or drink (I've gotten much better at avoiding that, though).

FBI's tutorial is good and a bit more modern than HackMew's or whatever. I'm not sure if he covers any IDA, but he does cover basic hacking practises like hooking. Otherwise just check the ones recommended here. I will probably link you to my (really rough and unfinished) "tutorial" on the IRC.

I'll go check out some more basic ASM to try to get my feet wet (I know it can be pretty annoying to have to show someone the ropes from the very beginning, hopefully I'll find some clearer tutorials/information). Do you have any thread recommendations in particular, or should I just fish around a bit? And I'm not surprised that you haven't heard them considering that they aren't extremely common, but they're present in my (admittedly small) social circle and, apparently, the Vancouver school board, so I think it would be very much worth it to make the effort. Again, the Devil's in the details, and if I'm being honest, I really do love garnering positive attention (although I don't really know anyone that doesn't). I also tend to get very deep into and hyperfocused on projects, so I obsess over the little things way more than I should. I guess OCD does that to you.

I'll join up in the IRC as soon as I get some threads open and refresh my memory.

Hmm, that's interesting. I didn't realise that those were actually in use. I have literally never heard those in real speech though. Don't worry about the long post, I find this interesting. Anyway, if you want me to help you with learning about RE and ASM, come on to the IRC. I try to avoid teaching the true basics, like opcodes and such. I prefer to be asked specific questions that to just sit down and teach. Try to read some tutorials first if you haven't already. I am on #rhm now if you want to talk.

Fae pronouns actually weren't nounself pronouns (to my knowledge), as the few people I've seen using them arent even otherkin and just prefer the aesthetic of femininity but not necessarily being binary female (although they are listed as nounself here, along with a ton of other more widespread nb pronouns, like xe, which are used in Canada). I really don't know where I stand on otherkin sometimes, and I'm not going to go off on a tangent here, but I wasn't really driving for that even in this prospective script; it was more to allow for people such as my best friend using Elverson-Spivak pronouns (ey/em, coined and beginning usage back in 1975) with an auxillary set of any other pronoun to use their main pronouns. People that use pronouns like fae or ce always have auxiliaries from my experience both online and in real life, and I think it would be interesting to allow people to use their primary pronouns as opposed to others. It would also make the games very widely appealing to a lot more people, and that's typically the goal of people in marketing; after all, even if it's not for profit, getting positive attention for your work is a really great experience, and people tend to appreciate the details in games a lot. As for your internet, I hope that's resolved soon, and even if you don't think this is something worth pursuing, I would still like to have to opportunity to be an "ASMentee" as you put it to optimize a game experience even outside of this.

Hey. I haven't been on the IRC in a few days because I don't have internet atm, otherwise you probably would've seen me. I like the idea of buffering pronouns, because It's useful even if you're just using the standard gender binary of the games. However, I'm not so sure I like the idea of entering pronouns. At the risk of offending you, I feel that most of these "custom" pronouns for otherkin and whatever detract from legitimate social justice causes that fought for awareness about gender assumptions in language. "fae" pronouns are quite ridiculous (fairy isn't even a gender, so I don't get how it makes sense), and many people still refuse to acknowledge the legitimacy of the singular "they" in modern English, so I don't get how an influx of pronouns is going to help rectify that.

Hey, I was wondering if you've seen this thread and have any idea how to help me out? I can't PM you and I didn't want to send a friend request out of nowhere, but I do need at least a few pointers. I've also been hanging around the IRC chat today, but you're several hours ahead of my time zone (PST), so I was never able to catch you online. Any help would be appreciated, but I understand if you're a bit busy or overwhelmed, so feel free to get back to me whenever possible.
