March 21st, 2016 1:00 PMPhilosophizerLmao I've heard the road arguments too many times. The answer is people :P
-
March 20th, 2016 7:49 PMSomewhere_No problem! Rothbard makes everything pretty easy to understand to be honest.
Some questions are fun to answer, and challenging, but others are just so common its ridiculous. How many times have your heard the "muh roads" argument? -
March 20th, 2016 11:48 AMPhilosophizerHaha I see, thanks for the tip :P Also, thank you for adding your input in my thread! These discussions on government vs. anarchy can lead off in any direction, it's quite grueling trying to answer all the pointless questions that they wouldn't even ask if they didn't believe in a ruling class

March 19th, 2016 12:27 PMSomewhere_I watch Molyneux, and he has certainly helped a bit. Read Rothbard. you can't be Ancap without naming your children Rothbard or reading him. xD

March 19th, 2016 9:13 AMPhilosophizerInteresting! I became an anarcho-capitalist after discovering Larken Rose and Stefan Molyneux. I'll be honest and say I haven't read Rothbard's work, but I've heard of him! I would be for voluntary governments since that's their choice to be subjected to it, although I doubt anyone rational would subscribe to that system after understanding it haha.

March 18th, 2016 9:08 PMSomewhere_well i was a neo-conservative for a while, then I found a libertarian instagram page and I was sort of interested. I was a paleo-conservative for a while and started some more research. Then I discovered the N.A.P, and slowly became a minarchist. after that i read a lot of Rothbard and read more on property rights. So i became a Voluntaryist.
I consider myself a Voluntaryist because it allows for more things, unlike Ancap. Ancap is sort of like Ancom- it does not allow for communes or voluntary governments, which goes against my philosophy against coercion. Then again, thats sort of my definition of Ancapism. Honestly, Voluntaryism and Ancapism are pretty much interchangeable. And I dont consider myself Rothbardian because I disagree with him on some things, but I do agree with him on voting, unlike other Voluntaryists/Anarcho-Capitalists. Voluntaryism also sounds better to stat its being drawn in. Anarcho sort of pushes them away... -
March 18th, 2016 8:52 PMPhilosophizerI agree, education is the only way! I am an anarcho-capitalist by the way :) How did you become an anarchist, and what sort of anarchist are you?
-
March 18th, 2016 8:13 PMSomewhere_interesting. there are only a few libertarians on the form that I have found.
I am a Volutaryist, but I see it occurring peacefully because I feel like violence wont achieve anything but another government (like French Revolution).
1. People must lose all respect for the fiat currency and the Fed abolished. This can occur by auditing it.
2. People must realize that they can rule themselves, and that the government has no true authority. The government only has authority as long as people think it does.
3. A man or woman must be elected president and slowly restore power to local towns and cities in a process called localization
4. After private organizations have been formed and roads slowly privatized to stock companies, the public will not have to worry about instant crime, and there will not be any reason to have a government.
5. This state of anarchy must stay in place for at least 1-2 generations before people get used to it, so a bad incident will not result in a provisional government that will result in another government.
6. The rest of the world will follow our example.
I haven't thought too much how to achieve it, but education is the best way in my opinion. You? In addition to this question, do you prefer the term Anarcho-Capitalist, Voluntaryist, or Anarchist? Would you consider yourself a subset of these, such Rothbardian? -
March 18th, 2016 7:12 PMPhilosophizerHi! Like you, I am a voluntaryist/anarchist that opposes the destructive idea of government. :P What are those select circumstances in which you see it as acceptable?

March 18th, 2016 7:11 PMSomewhere_What are you politically?
