June 11th, 2015 12:18 PMSomewhere_I think he used to go to church when he was younger, but when he moved to *insert where I live here* they stopped. I think they have a cross hanging their house, like a small wooden one. No one knows everyone's true heart.
Im not the best debater, but I am still not on board with carbon dating. WAY too inaccurate. Never heard of the background radiation tho.
I think he knows it isn't very cool to be a Christian, ESPECIALLY where I live.
I played LoL for a bit, but stopped because games took too long and I knew that would be a problem. DOTA is similar to LoL, right? Or am I thinking of something else?
I can't wait until I am 18 and move out. Other than paying bills and going to college, I can finally play online games without my mom or sister yelling at me to get off or pause it. My mom understands a little, but she doesnt really understand online games can not be paused or turned off without punishment. My parents went out to dinner one night and I was playing CS:GO and my sister yelled at me to make Mac and Cheese. I said wait like 5 minutes and Ill make it. Nope! She just kept on telling me to make it. (pretty sure she thinks me making Mac and Cheese is like the 11th commandment or something) No one in my family will ever get it lol.
Even if I had a well put-together argument, same thing would have happened.
I am so tired right now, and our water is turned off, so I can't take a shower. And I am nasty. Now, everyone is home and we have to share the same bathroom for the rest of the summer (in my parents room). It isn't so bad, I just can't stay up past like 10:00 otherwise my dad would freak out lol. My mom knows I stay up until like 3 in the morning on weekends and is fine with it. I am considering digging a hole and build some sort of draining system in the backyard. the back door is right next to the backyard and I have this secret area behind the bushes. I am pretty sure I can sneak past my dad at night. -
June 11th, 2015 6:02 AMThe VoidSome of your arguments were either bad or pushy tbh, it's not a surprise a liberal would react critically :/ You better have a good, well-researched comeback for him hah
I disagree though: Jesus, sure; the flood, probably; young earth? nah. [insert usual argument about carbon dating and background radiation here] My view's always been like this even when I was Christian, I was raised near a Jesuit (the catholics who do science stuff) church
That's so awesome, dammit. Literally all my parish friends are facilitators/admins of our youth camp so they get to play around with their newfound power lol. But... I don't think I have the leadership skills to be a faci anyway
Diversity is always nice, i always like a good chat with a foreigner. but hey, maybe your friend isn't very open with his religion as you are. For all you know his parents could be priests/ministers and he just wants another approach to school/friends other than religion :) I know someone who actually got depressed when we talked religion around her, it turns out she was devout but she was getting too much of it at home :/
I checked the game out, it's like Dota + Pokemon in one lol. Sadly I only get to play for 2-3 hours a day depending on busyness. I'll buy it when I get the chance. -
June 11th, 2015 3:25 AMSomewhere_I remember as soon as the christian club was made, the atheist alliance was made as well, not long after.
Well then, another person quoted my post in a condescending and sarcastic way, so I am not going to reply to the troll. *slides on shades* He was pretty ignorant in the post considering the vast amount of proof for Jesus (as a human), flood, and young earth. Whatever.
Yea, its a camp for like 1st to 5th graders. I am coming back today to be a counselor. Tonight, I will have a worse voice than now. :/
I wish I had Christian friends to hang out with. There are a severe lack of Christians where I live. In fact, I recently heard my Bible teacher from middle school is leaving...partly due to his new job and their are "more fish in the pond." :) All of my friends are atheist/agnostic, which creates interesting conversations regarding morals and religion, but I have one friend who claims to be Christian. I can tell he is lukewarm- and he acts more atheist than the rest of my friends regarding his belief. I swear, he thought I believed space was actually heaven lol.
I am going to buy Moonrise, a pokemon-like game. It is in pre-release and costs $15 on steam (will later be F2P when there is global release). It looks like fun and stuff. -
June 10th, 2015 9:04 PMThe Voidyou were probably the most active one there.
I find it problematic lol, I've been to a creation museum once and it was horrible. Answers in Genesis uses ad hoc arguments and most of the "studies" published on their website are academic but not the sort of studies used by actual, academic institutions. They're not even peer-reviewed. I find a lot of Ken Ham's arguments flawed.
Camp? Like youth camp? Cool.
I lost my religion a while back tbh, but I still hang out with my Christian friends in fellowships just for fun. -
June 10th, 2015 6:12 PMSomewhere_Really? That club sort of ended when I started to become more inactive i think. It is sort of hard to find good sources for apologetics because of a lack of science-based Christian websites. I love science lol. What is your opinion on Answers in Genesis? I wander if Kent Hovind has a website similar because I know that guy is freaking amazing haha (basically the stephen hawkins of Creation science).
Being a good sport is nice...Ill try my best to be open minded and stuff because I believe everyone should challenge their own beliefs (including me).
I have a habit of getting into arguments and stuff, its one of my (many) flaws.
So, whats up? I have been sick today and I was supposed to be a camp counselor, so I was resting for the rest of the week. I was there Monday and Tuesday at least, but the kids misbehaved so much I had to raise my voice a bunch and lost my voice. Thankfully, my sister filled in for me today. -
June 10th, 2015 5:39 PMThe Voidohhh hey there! i remember you from the christian club thing xD
Yeah but the format wasn't academic though, godandscience.com is used for creationist apologetics. It used the same studies anyway, and I was fine with the other creationist link.
Eh, I'm tired of debating too anyway. Thanks for being a sport ^-^ -
June 10th, 2015 9:22 AMSomewhere_I was formerly BadPokemon. Surprised people still remember that account. I sort of wanted to start anew with a new account. You know- clean slate. I was younger (and not in high school) with my old account, and I have been debating some people at my school (now I am a sophomore) and, well, winning because I had the superior knowledge. I guess I blew myself up.
I didnt really want to begin a debate because I knew I couldn't win. My reasoning for posting in the thread was to simply give my opinion haha. I never planned to fight the uphill battles I did prior to this account.
About about.com...I have mixed views on it. I have been looking into the guillotine thing. It makes sense, but idk if its 100% true. If there is confirmation, I wouldn't be surprised.
With using Christian websites...they can use the same science as other scientists. Kent Hovind and others have done the research and everything. Just because we are not atheist and dont believe in evolution, does not make the science not credible.
Evolutionists and creationists look at the same proof, remember that. Its how we interpret the proof.
Ill leave you alone now. :)
