But housing, even short term housing, for those who can't afford it. Short term housing with costs covered and an allowance to allow for essentials and education would be lovely. I don't want to take away any of the lovely houses people have earned don't worry xD

Well I can't speak for the US, but here our food prices are insane and make no sense.

all housing would be public? Or for just people that can't afford it?

And what is wrong with the current food production system that warrants publicizing the industry?

In my ideal world? Healthcare, food, water, education and simple communal housing would all be public. The latter will likely never happen though.

What are you defining as need? I know you mean water and healthcare, but do you also want agriculture and food production public? To be honest, I could see why you would say yes, but at the same time, its already over-producing food (for reasons that are not free market btw or relevant for the question), so I dont see why food should be publicized.

Needs are what I want public. I don't really care if luxuries are private.

thank goodness you dont believe in 100% public ownership. That would be disastrous. At least you can make the case for only publicizing "needs" industry (water, etc).

"A market is a group of buyers and sellers, where buyers determine the demand and sellers determine the supply, together with the means whereby they exchange their goods or services is called the market."

not to be conflated with free markets. This does not mean the government can't buy or sell goods or regulate or tax or anything.

well everyone thinks it can be more complicated, but the contradictions just can't contradict the basic supply/demand

    thank god you think that

Do you believe in a market economy?

I mean obviously supply and demand is a thing xD
I just think it can be more complicated than the basics of the theory allow for sometimes. You know?

Value is probably one of the most subjective things around.

You would be pretty much a conspiracy theorist if you didnt lol, or you would have to reallyyyyyyyy try to lift the burden of proof off your back. xD Its not like the more obscure theories that are part of specific schools of economics.

Out of curiosity, do you accept that value is subjective?

well, surely we do at least agree on the basic laws of economics. Supply/Demand, Time-Preference, Say's Law, etc.

Honestly I don't have the energy to get into it. You know we'll never agree on economics xD
