January 29th, 2009 3:47 PMInMooseWeTrustActually, I want n00bs who have some experience on the subject of whatever job they have so they're somewhat decent. I want them to work on the game and get more experience that way.
-
January 29th, 2009 2:09 PMNinja CaterpieWell, once you've got a couple, let it go, especially if they're good.
It's perfectly fine to have completely different mapping styles in two different regions, it probably makes it look better and more natural that way. =D At least we get to map most/all of a region alone.
And it's HARD to recruit mappers? What world is that? O.o
I swear, when I started here, mappers were going around everywhere, and no teams wanted mappers! Must be different in GD. :\ Or do you mean good mappers? xD -
January 29th, 2009 2:01 PMInMooseWeTrustI know you should only have a small number of mappers, but it's so hard to find mappers, and then it's hard to find mappers who will map for your game.
Eventually there will be some combination of stock tiles and custom tiles, in a sort of "thematic tilesets." For example, Orange Islands would use a Tropical Beach tileset. Kanto would use an Urban Subtropical. North Sinnoh would be Evergreen Winter. And so forth. We need spriters and tile artists to make that happen, and it's a fairly huge task.
For the time being, all we have are stock, Don Patch, and Saurav.
Yes, I would like each mapper to map out a large section of each region to minimize discrepencies. -
January 29th, 2009 1:47 PMNinja CaterpieFor the time being? >:|
Why can't we keep stock tiles? They're awesome!
Some changes, like Emerald paths and grass and stuff is okay, but keep to Nintendo's beautiful tiles! =D
...
Holy crud. How many people exactly have you asked to map? :O Mapping's one of those small things that it's best to leave one person to do. Two is okay, but...well...a lot of people have conflicting maps, see..
Well, you wouldn't want someone to go into Route 1 and walk through it and feel it like Nintendo mapping, but then the next Route is filled with trees and mazey grass. :\
It's okay if each of us does a different region, or maybe two to one region, but you have to understand that it's not really easy to map alongside someone else, especially if they map in a way you don't like. -
January 29th, 2009 1:18 PMInMooseWeTrustI hope we can find more people. For the time being, yes, we are using stock tiles.
-
January 28th, 2009 2:50 PMNinja CaterpieLovely, I've always wanted mapping in RMXP.
Are you using stock FR tiles? If not, well, I hate mapping in tiles that are majorly changed. Changed houses are okay.
Wait, am I working with iPro? -

We will provide you with a working copy of RMXP and the tools that go along with it. -
January 28th, 2009 2:17 PMNinja CaterpieHmm?
Game?
Made in what? -
January 28th, 2009 12:46 PMInMooseWeTrustI really like your maps and I was wondering if you would like to be a mapper for my game.
