*gasp* it's only the next best thing coming out in a bit more than a week >:O
I never liked chikorita because it lacks a lot in power, but I'm choosing chikorita for 2 reasons. I like grass pokemon and I like a challenge. But every pokemon follows you, so I was wondering which pokemon you would let follow you.

There are 244 in total but it's a little weird because AdvanceMap does things a little differently. Unfortunately, you can't have more than 256 OWs because events take only a single byte (I don't know the correct terminology but it's like 0x09 or 0xFE, as opposed to 0x01A3) for the OW to use for a person event. I repointed the OW table to accommodate for more than 244 OWs but AdvanceMap won't let me use any OWs past 256 (and it won't let you go past 256 in a hex editor either).

As for the HG/SS question, do you mean which starter I'll choose? I've always gone with Cyndaquil or Totodile, the former more often than the latter. In fact, I've always gone with either the water or the fire starter. However, I'm thinking (if I actually do decide to get one of them (which would end up being Soul Silver as I have Gold)) that maybe, for the occasion, I should give grass pokémon a shot. My teams rarely, if ever, have a single grass pokémon so I think I'll mix things up for once.
By the way, I haven't looked into HG/SS much so forgive me if I say anything really stupid^^

Speaking of OW's, how how much sprites are in Emerald? And are there FR sprites since Emerald was built on the engine of FR?
Oh yeah, and if you get HG/SS, what pokemon are you going to get to follow you?

Well unless you're planning on using it in a hack (most of my maps are just for fun), then I guess it doesn't really matter.
I'm gonna go brainstorm some ideas for events that require a Pokémon OW. My goal is to incorporate as many Pokémon NPCs as possible, as I feel that the official games lacked in that area. It's gotten to the point where if I see a Pokémon OW in the real games, I automatically assume it's an event where I get to battle and capture the Pokémon, like a legendary.

    I'll try to find it.
I always despised border errors, they always prevented me from showing my real work. By the way, you will most likely noticed lots of border errors in my map.

Right. If the map is bigger, there is obviously going to be a lot more material to talk about.
By the way, I found another error on the map I submitted to the Get-Together competition. It's kind of hard to describe because the error isn't actually on the map o_0
It's a conceptual error and it's in the bottom right corner if you want to try and find it (oh and it's not a border error, in case that's what you were thinking). The error isn't visible in-game but it's still kind of funny to think about once you find it.

Besides, huge maps are always much more fun to rate.
When I saw a simple map(I'll try to find it, it's that map with a straight path and a cave at the end) I can't think of much to say about it.

What can I say? Big maps are just more fun to make. Plus, when you look back on your work after you've finished, it's so much more satisfying to see a huge image that can't fit on a single page than a simple route. Though it's very easy to get carried away and keep expanding your map again and again. And, of course, you have to be able to fill all of that space. Otherwise, you might as well settle for a smaller map. That's why I'm proud of my maps: I feel like I not only put a lot of detail in to them, they're huge and I put a lot of detail into them^^

I didn't copy your style, but I did take bits and pieces out of it. Mainly the big map part( I don't think I've ever seen a small map from you apart from the starter town), but it has other features that you seem to use. I'll have to make the map taller though, and it's already 80. :/

Well, I was talking to Vrαi about how amazing it was that they managed to 1) draw OWs for every single Pokémon and 2) fit all those OWs into just 16 palettes (for a total of 256 colors). Actually, there are even a few unused palettes o.O
And don't rush the map. I'd prefer that you take your time and make a better map. Though I'm eager to see your attempt to mimic my style :)

That's neat, I'll probably get done with the map this week if I'm fast. I went stalky about a minute ago, you're talking about the 16 bit limitations of mystery dungeon right? I never cared for them that much since bulbasaur was about the same size as Ho-oh in the games.

Sure, why not? I just finished inserting a bunch of OWs and doing a lot of palette work so it'll be good to get my mind off of that for a while.

Colcolstyles, you won't mind if I pester you about a map soon, will you? because I made a huge map to mimic your style a bit, but only with FR tiles. The limitations suck :(

You don't have to tell me. Believe me, I've tried that and have had naught.

    lol yer funny
No, I've attempted to get into spriting on numerous occasions and that tree is the only thing that I've ever made worthy of showing to anyone else. You should have seen the dozens of trees that I made before I got to that one^^
Actually, using the standard Fire Red tile requires a lot more effort than my custom tree did. Because there are shadows, you 1) have to make sure all the trees are correct and 2) have to put an extra line of trees around the border of the map to avoid tree shadow errors with the border <- kinda hard to explain.
