May 27th, 2011 3:22 PMEnigmaSo when do you plan on updating the Solo Challenge thread next? :3 I've had my Dewgong Ultimate Solo done for quite a while. Also, I have done a bunch of solos in RBY for my "personal" challenge, but you could probably wait until I'm done or something if it's too much of a hassle for you. xP

April 10th, 2011 5:52 PMmyrrhmanNo, go ahead.
-
April 9th, 2011 8:59 PMEnigmaSo, is it okay to use legendaries for the solo challenge? There is no rule against it, and I need to use legends like Mewtwo, Moltres, etc. for my original 151 solos. :P

March 27th, 2011 7:09 AMmyrrhmanAhh, what a predicament. I'm sure we'll work something out.

March 26th, 2011 11:00 PMEnigmaI have two gameboy colors, plus a GBA. So I'd be set. The only thing is that if I did it that way, IDK if I could record. I don't have a camcorder or anything. I have a webcam, but it's attached to the computer. (I use a laptop)
-
March 26th, 2011 10:45 PMmyrrhmanYeah. But I mean. I'd be willing to go get a gameboy from Gamestop (I have a friend who works there, I bet he could give me some deal where I could play it if I stayed in the building or something. That's probably good advertising). If we could beat the record once, I'm sure we could beat it again.

March 26th, 2011 10:30 PMEnigmaHmm, so with no trading, we wouldn't be allowed to use the strategy of having each person catch certain pokemon, then just trading them all to one game?
I think I'll be able to abide by those rules. I think I can record off the VBA. We should make sure that emulators are allowed, though. It'd be terrible if we actually did pull it off, but it wasn't counted because we technically weren't following a rule. :/ -
March 26th, 2011 10:22 PMmyrrhmanWell, I did some searching around on the Guinness site, and found this out:
To be "legal" in their stuff, you have to:
1. have a camera shooting the entirety of your record in one sitting.
2. use no codes or cheats. At first I thought this meant no emulator, but I think if you click on the cheats tab of VBA and show that there are no loaded cheats, it will be fine.
3. for this, use no in game glitches (No missingno or Mew)
4. do no trading (in game trading is all right, obviously. just no trading in a lv 100 starmie with boltbeam, psychic, and surf.)
5. either verbally announce or have a sign or something that shows who you are, what all equipment you used, and stuff like that.
So, they only get one video. But, if we just start doing runs now, i don't see any of us breaking the record (1:59, yeah, holy crap) and happening to video tape it. I think it will take a lot of team planning and stuff like that. I've already done a lot of this, but there's still a loooooooooooong way to go. One of the main reasons that I stopped is because I took a step back and said "sigh, there is so much that I still have to do." But I think that with like 5-6 of us working on this, it won't be nearly as much. -
March 26th, 2011 10:07 PMEnigmaI knew about it, but I just wanted some clarification on what exactly it was. :D
I'm definitely interested, and you can already count me in no matter what. How exactly does the timing work? (As in, the fastest person out of our group submits their time, or all of us combined? Plus, we probably have to complete the Pokedex too, right?) -
March 26th, 2011 10:02 PMmyrrhmanYou don't know about Alpha Fan? I thought all the regulars did!
So basically, a while back, this guy came on the challenge board and said "hey, I was looking in an old Guinness Book of World Records: Video Game Edition, and I saw that there was a record for fastest playthrough of Pokemon Blue. I was thinking that it would be cool if someone on here could beat it.
So it was a pretty popular thing, and I found myself leading the people who were working on it (the guy who posted the thread was like "I suck at Pokemon, I just thought it would be a cool thing for you guys to do"). It eventually died, but I never gave up... totally. I've been working on it here and there, but what I really need is a few more people to help me work on this. As good as I am at Pokemon, there's just too much to do. I think I'm really going to focus on this once I finish all the monotypes. I think I'll talk to jdthebud and see if he wants to help, since we'll probably finish them around the same time.
Still interested? -
March 26th, 2011 9:06 PMEnigmaSo what is this 'Project Alpha Fan'?
-
March 15th, 2011 6:54 PMEnigmaHey. :3 There was, at one point, a challenge where you could only use a certain type of animal on your team, right? (Like a...monospecies or something?) I was thinking about recreating it, since I don't see it existing anymore.
