\o/ It is a great game. Dialogue remains a huge plus throughout the whole game. Give me updates as you go! I love discussing games like these, and there's a lot of memorable parts to SPM. Lots of them.
Sticker Star sadly drops the story and characters (still has good dialogue and charm to it though!) thanks to executive meddling, but it's still fun for what it's worth. I'm yet to play the first PM game (I figure I might get it on a sale via Wii U eshop). The second one (TTYD - The Thousand Year Door) is absolutely amazing and is a must to play. Fantastic dialogue in spades, solid mechanics, partner characters... SPM lacks those too in a sense (with the pixel characters), but it has a large and solid cast anyway plus four playable characters, so hey. Compared to each other SPM has maybe worse gameplay (down to preference with the style partially), but a better story imo.
As for the game show bit, idk about the 1st game but there's been one in every other PM game!
Meanwhile before club nintendo shut down here at the end of September I used stars/coins/whatever it used on the first M&L game for eshop download (among other things), so I'll be checking that out in full... sometime.
The next night after my last VM to you, I decided to play some SPM.
I LOVE IT SO MUCH!
I've never played a Paper Mario game before (I'm hoping to change that as soon as possible, though!) I've played every M&L game though, and while there are some features of those games that I wish were in SPM, I'm having so much fun with this game. I do like that it's just RPG enough to satisfy what I'm looking for while also having the platforming which I enjoy so much.
Plus the dialogue... I adore the dialogue, with the fourth-wall-breaking and the humor. Like, I just finished playing through Chapter 2, and the sudden appearance of a game show set made me laugh.
Cheers! I got a couple emails about your comments as well (so in the end you were no longer anonymous =p). I'll check them when not at work, and then actually go and post it sometime this month. :V And worry about editing chapter 2. I hope you liked it.
Just dropping a note to say that this anonymous cheetah just finished reading through your chapter on Google Docs. I left a few comments just on the grammar issues and typos that I noticed. I'll save my comments about the story itself when you post it!
Uni is a smaller part of it actually - the bigger part is moving. Like yesterday in particular, when we actually made the move!. And we don't have net in our new place yet. :V And before that was a lot of packing and etc... so I haven't had as much spare time since my interstate trip a few weeks back, and hence haven't been around as much outside of a certain section. =( Hopefully that'll change soon! (Thanks for your post btw).
