But communism results in a strict decrease in social liberties and freedoms that many of us take for granted. Communism is a good idea in theory, but it doesn't work in the real world, and definitely wouldn't work in the US.

I agree to an extent; it's not that hard to say, "Oh, religion is your justification to ban gay marriage? We'll just legalize it then." stupid democracy.

gogogogogogogo communism, CLEARLY the best system

When so many political beliefs are directly correlated with people's religions, it's kind of hard to do separation of church and state....Gay marriage, abortion, schooling... You'll never get people to make decisions without taking their religious beliefs into account, which is sad really.

And I think you're right...At some point our country is going to legalize gay marriage. It's just a matter of when. I honestly don't have a defense for being against it because I'm not religious. And there are social reasons against it I suppose, but none of which I'm really die hard about.

Oh, and I'd love to see an old school "Anti Pop Culture Warrior 13" post if you can find one XP

I agree, so much much for separating church from state lol. ESPECIALLY with gay marriage where they point to the bible...and being a Christian myself, I really hate when people pick and choose what they want to have in government from the bible (creationism education =/)...There are some really backwards ideologies in this country. I'm no economist so I won't go there, but social stuff I am fiery about.

And you're right, gay marriage isn't going to pass any time soon, but that's because the country isn't ready for it, just like how we weren't ready for getting rid of slavery at the Constitutional Convention in 1789. IMO the whole issue of gay marriage will eventually be looked back at like "why exactly did we oppose that?" since "redefining marriage" is a pretty awful defense lol. As long as it happens in my lifetime...and I don't just mean California.

Well I agree...The majority of major news networks have a political agenda and sway the stories whichever way they please. So many people are misinformed because of the crappy news they get, be it over the internet or newspaper or what have you, and they blindly follow. Naturally I'm going to gravitate towards Fox News, because no one wants to hear people spit out slanted stories that go against their political beliefs. But the media is the media...They give the news however they want to give it.

Gay marriage is....well, let's just say I've shifted much more towards the center. I honestly just want the states to put it up for vote and have them decide if it should be legal or not, like they did in Cali and Massachusetts. I'm fine either way...But I will say that if a state as liberal as Cali votes down it's legalization, then I don't see how the majority of the states will let it pass.

What I really hate is when people bring religion into politics. But that's just me...I will say that our country will never come together again like it did after 9/11 unless the media can clean up it's act and stop brainwashing people. Not like that's going to happen anytime soon though =/

I despise social conservatism to the point where I'd probably go Anti-Pop culture Warrior 13 2007 on you and flip out so I just don't bring it up besides when I'm not being serious lol. It's basically because in a nation that has been definied by progress and liberty, withholding liberties to groups of people doesn't make sense to me...basically. But yeah lol

I hate any news channel where the outcome is predetermined...and I don't mean one person like Bill O'Reilly, I mean the entire network. MSNBC and FOX disgust me. They're doing the American people a disservice. The job of a news program is to inform the people and to let them make up their own minds...not some biased load of crap. No network is completely unbiased but those two just need to be banned forever imo.

Trust me, I respect you a lot more than the moron hardcore Republicans who act like I'm going to hell because I support gay marriage. Why our country is so divided now when we need to be united just makes me go blarg

Most of the media anyway...Fox News is our one last beacon of hope XP

No really, I do need to lern to pollitikz a lot more. There's still a lot I don't understand about the economy/social issues. But my dad is very conservative and he starts pwning me with all this information and I'm like "That sounds bad D:"

I try to be rational...Look at both sides of the argument, ya know?
