April 27th, 2011 2:05 PMcolcolstylesDon't sweat it. I can empathize with the spate of VMs that accompanies a new moderator (well, you're technically not new but you get the point). I'm pretty sure I got zero work done my first day because in the time it took me to respond to one VM, I would have three new ones to tend to. Hopefully things have cooled down by now.
Yeah, the blog scene here isn't great. It seems like people blog just for the hell of it. I don't post entries very often but I try to make them worthwhile and somewhat entertaining.
Haha, Emulation can be a handful sometimes. But I've been around the forum long enough to know its ins and outs. On an average day, I can get through all the new threads in about an hour, sometimes less if the server permits but that happens just about never. :D -
April 27th, 2011 6:50 AMMr Cat DogThanks for the congrats! (Sorry for getting back to you so late. :/)
For me, the hardest is posting in every blog entry and meeting a new person every day. Some of the blog entries are just piles of turd, and I'm just really shy at introducing myself anyway, so my introductions always come across like someone with severe Asperger's or something (like mine to you, for example!) Welcoming people is actually not that bad: I thought I'd hate it at first, but there's normally something in each welcome post that you can latch onto and talk about, so it's not that bad.
Emulation is kinda massive. I honestly never realised how big it was until about a month ago... dunno how you cope with just one modding partner; it feels like it needs about 6 mods on at all times! -
April 26th, 2011 8:09 PMcolcolstylesThe whole "do X every day" thing is just too much for me. I could maybe manage "greet 3 newbies" and "meet 3 people you've seen around" in these two weeks (or however long it is) but doing each every single day is a little ridiculous. Modding Emulation takes up a large chunk of my day, as is. :(
Well, it looks like you can add Culture & Media to that list. :D
Congratulations on that promotion. It's always nice to see old, experienced faces on staff. :) -
April 25th, 2011 4:20 AMMr Cat DogI'm sure it'll count when it's all totted up at the end, don't you worry! :D
Apparently, I did Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, Pokemon General, Pokemon Gaming Central, Other Voting Polls, then S-Mod, then back to normal membership. I had approximately no life all those years ago because of this place! -
April 24th, 2011 6:54 PMcolcolstylesAh crap, I totally forgot about that. I'm supposed to be doing the same. Does being approached by someone else count as talking to someone new? :D
aaanyways, yeah I've seen you around too, though all I know about you is that you're ex-staff. What section(s) did you used to look over? -
April 24th, 2011 12:54 PMMr Cat DogHi. I'm currently doing Nick's PokeCommunity Challenge and I'm up to the part where I need to introduce myself to a person I've wanted to talk to but haven't had the courage to actually do so. From what I've read of your blog posts (mainly the first two), you sound like a really interesting and nice person. I don't go into ROM Hacking all that much, so this is just me saying hello. Hello!
