When you get the chance could you please change Pokémon Grey's thread title to 'Pokémon Grey [Beta 1 Released]'. Thank you. :)
Have a nice Christmas, thanks again for everything you've helped me with this year.

Well, as I mentioned in the description, only blocks with a specific Background Byte will be treated as though they have three layers. I did this because otherwise I would have to repoint every single piece of block data (which would take a while given how many tilesets there are) and AdvanceMap wouldn't be compatible with the hack either.

    Yeah, I understand now.
In the original Emerald a tree near the water is cut smaller than normal due to the 2 layer limitation. I guess with this you could achieve a lot more in depth maps.
I guess everything has to be hex edited, or could you edit Advancemap to work this?

Yeah, I was afraid people wouldn't be able to see the difference.
Blocks be default only have an upper layer and a lower laver. My hack adds a third layer to blocks with a specific Background Byte. So, for example, "water edge" blocks use the lower layer for the water tiles and the upper layer for the ledge tiles. With my hack, you can have a third layer above both of those, which I used to put the tree tiles on. Does that make sense?

Yeah, I see what you mean.
I'll just have to leave the RHEA lock on for now...
At least that keeps out the low level hackers.
Anyway I see you have a new video.
Can you explain what it does to me a little better.
I watched the video several times and I couldn't see anything different than expected.

I don't like it any more than you do. It's just something hackers have to put up with. But if you really don't want people to look through your ROM, you should look into locking the map data. A lock of that sort (one that makes the game un-openable with AdvanceMap) makes the game incredibly difficult to crack, at least to the average hack player. I developed one for Emerald that works pretty well (actually, I haven't released it so I don't actually know how well it works) but, that I know of, there's no lock for Fire Red other than the ineffective "change the ROM Header" one.

Just to let you know, I didn't mean to offend or anything with the 'prohibited' thing.
I thought it would prevent stealing by putting that.
I understand that anybody with RHEA could look through my hack without me knowing.

As for the Emerald boot screen problem, here's a fix: change the data at '0x16cd17' from:

    4a 10 1c 08 80 00 20 00 21

    to:

    48 08 80 a0 21 00 20 49 00

And, in response to your numbered questions from your PM, the answer to both is yes.

Pokémon logo tilemap is at '0xDE0644' or 2614 in unLZ. The Emerald Version logo and the Press Start text are sprites (as opposed to being part of the BGs in Fire Red) so I don't know how to edit their locations.

I'll look into it later. I'm kinda busy at the moment. I'll try to answer those other questions too but I dunno when I'll have the time.

Hey, I know I've been asking you a lot of questions later but I was wondering if you could tell me how to refresh the map in Pokémon Emerald?
It appears the special 0x8E was removed.

Seeming you're an Emerald kinda guy, can you explain why the Bootscreen does not appear in Visualboy Advance yet it appears on my Nintendo DS?

Can you also tell me where the raw files are located for:

-The Pokémon Logo on the Titlescreen.
-The Emerald Logo on the Titlescreen.
-The 'press start' on the Titlescreen.

I want to move them across so there not covering Giratina.

    Spoiler:

Sorry for all the Emerald base question...
I had a urge to hack a bit of it today and you're the only person I can think of that could answer my questions.
    Thank you. :)
