February 12th, 2013 4:00 AMGuyDon't worry, I'm a fan of using a lot of dialogue too. I can be descriptive, but I'm such a sucker for an interesting conversation.
Plan to introduce more? Weaponry type representations maybe?
This WikiPad sounds incredibly useful and organized. I have a notebook that I've been constantly filling up with character details, plot ideas, ideas of different scenes and dialogue. It's crazy! And I do it so often and I write it down as quickly as possible so I don't forget, that my handwriting in their isn't even my best. It's just fast! Whenever it comes to finally putting it all into coherent words and making a story out of it, I'll probably use Microsoft Word to complete the writing process of it. Nothing fancy.
Have you ever had the chance of running into a wild shiny? I tried chaining for one a few times, but I failed terribly. Meanwhile my sister was able to chain for a shiny Plusle easy after like eight shaking grasses. lol -
February 11th, 2013 7:38 PMSammiThere probably is. I've got a really solid concept, but the writing itself still needs a lot of work. For some reason even the theoretically action-heavy stuff seems to be a lot of talking and not so much action. No idea why. I guess I just like dialogue. D:
Nah, the wings are the only physical representation I got.
Worldbuilding is one of the best parts! I've done so much of it I run a program called WikidPad to make a wiki stored on my computer about it. I still don't got everything in there yet. The bits about magic and souls and totally-not-angel orders are in it but I don't have a lot about the species and their planets done yet. I also keep character bios in it just for fun. It's a godsend for keeping all my information together; I'd been keeping a lot of notes in a single document before that and it's not easy to keep everything straight that way.
What programs do you use for writing? I totally love hearing about that kind of thing. There's like a billion word processors and writing programs out there. :D
I don't know either, not being interested in Nuzlocke. Knowing my luck I'd find all the shinies during a run and then they'd all die and boooooo. :( I want a shiny so bad but I am too lazy to breed or try to chain in DPPt. Curse my laziness! -
February 11th, 2013 9:45 AMGuySo far I've been able to understand your concept, so I wouldn't call it too complex or stupid. There's a lot worse out there that has been published already! I like what you have going though. Personally, I like complexity and mythology and learning of a being new abilities and their different skills along the way because it makes reading that story all the more exciting.
Interesting. I don't I've read anything that has ever used wings that can't allow one to fly be used as a way to dignify one's power level. Do you use other physical representations too?
Well, I'm sure if that happened, then it would be game over. We would dieeee! At least I think so. I'm not certain. -
February 10th, 2013 10:48 PMSammiUhhhh all the planets written about so far are in the same alliance of planets. They've got spaceships to travel between planets and the totally-not-angels-why-do-you-ask can just teleport between them directly. Most of the main characters are connected because they are in the same rank of totally-not-angels, which is another weird concept in itself that I really don't like talking about because it's complicated and probably stupid.
Alas, the wings are decoration only!! I haven't had them flying for like years and years now. :( It's a physical representation of their power levels. The feathers are really sweet though. Although plotbreaking, because they're good luck and thus can do some awesome miracles. People don't just part with them at every opportunity though.
I'm less concerned about being attached to them than I am that I'd get stuck because all my Pokemon would faint and I'd have nothing to capture more Pokemon! :( But I still wouldn't want to release them. If I use them in my team I don't ever get rid of them. They're my babies. <3 -
February 9th, 2013 8:26 PMGuyIs it like different characters located in different parts of space that are somehow linked together in the bigger picture of your story? Like do they have their own special alien abilities that connect them somehow or is there a central character to your book?
I love the general idea of it though, and to have wings and be able to fly? Never a bad thing! Who doesn't want that? Haha.
I hear you. I would probably be the same way! It would suck to have to let go of one of your favorites though. -
February 9th, 2013 8:13 PMSammiGeneral idea is that there's an alliance of aliens in some part of space. They're mostly humanoid in appearance and their societies are a lot like ours because I'm not as creative as I'd like to think. ;) From there there's like a billion stories about a whole bunch of different characters of several different species.
It's also got a dose of supernatural because not just the magic, but all the main characters are kind of like angels (in the sense that they serve a higher power, but obviously nothing from human religions, and wings because I am SO ORIGINAL I don't care wings are awesome).
Nah, not a challenge. Just wanted to try something different. I've always caught Pokemon as I went along and never monotype teams. Depending on how things go, I might try an actual challenge later! I could never do a Nuzlocke though. My Pokemon faint waaaaay too much. -
February 8th, 2013 7:27 PMGuyAliens are very cool! Is it like your basic alien story or is it out of this world? /pun intended
Are you doing this as a challenge? I've never actually done a monotype run, or any kind of challenge really. I think if I ever did I want to do Nuzlocke, because that seems like a lot of fun. I enjoy reading those comic strips fans make for them as they play. -
February 8th, 2013 6:12 PMSammiIt's about people doing stuff. And by people, I mean aliens. With magic. It's weird stuff. I don't like getting into the plot.
I'm playing Black. I breeded a team of dragon-types and sent the eggs over as soon as I could trade. Never done a mono-type team during the main game or started with a traded team, so it's a bit different. Admittedly dragons were a bit of a broken choice to start with since 4 out of 6 have Dragon Rage and thus could 1-hit KO everything for a little bit. Even now 40HP is over half and I'm in Nimbasa. -
February 7th, 2013 11:35 AMGuyWhat's your story about? Mine is centered upon witchcraft. I've always been fascinated by magic and the supernatural.
Of course! I'm playing SoulSilver right now. You? -
February 6th, 2013 5:37 PMSammiI'm always working, hahaha. The better question is what am I working on?
The project I'm focusing on at this moment is one I started yeaaars ago, and then stopped writing because I got lost/bored. Then I got a new direction and picked it up again. The new direction it took doesn't have enough setup in the older parts so I still have to go back and edit it sometime.
Not super actively writing anything though, because I'm playing lots of Pokemon instead. 8) -
February 6th, 2013 5:09 PMGuyThat has happened to me multiple times. Actually, I'm just glad I haven't started writing yet in that regard, because I'm kind of trying to figure out where I want my story to go all over again.
Are you working on anything right now? -
February 6th, 2013 4:41 PMSammiWhat's the worst is when you write it down, and then change ideas!! 10x worse if you've finished it already. :(
-
February 4th, 2013 7:45 PMGuyI have it hard. I've had the same story spinning in my head, but I have yet to finally put it all on paper. But the scenes and the ideas and plot twists never stop coming. Haha
-
February 4th, 2013 7:36 PMSammiI know!! Scenes end up so epic in my head but I'm still not 100% on getting it translated well into words. Pretty sure that's everyone's problem though, haha. I hope. :(

February 4th, 2013 4:48 PMGuySo much fun.
I actually started doing it about a year and a half ago when I started storming up this story I've been working on. The hardest part for me is trying to take all of those scenes I visualize in my head and writing them down into words.
